The Minnesota Wild have signed Daniel Winnik to a one-year, $660,000 contract.

Winnik joined the Wild on a professional tryout during training camp. The 32-year-old is a useful player, but he doesn't bring in much in terms of offensive upside. Winnik had 12 goals and 25 points in 72 games with the Washington Capitals last season.
Oct 4 - 3:44 PM

The Wild scratched Daniel Winnik for their preseason finale, but he made a good impression over training camp.

"I pulled [Winnik] aside and said, 'Danny, you've done great. I know exactly how you play. We just want to look at a couple of the young kids,'" Wild coach Bruce Boudreau said. Winnik has been attending Minnesota's training camp on a tryout basis. It remains to be seen if the Wild will ultimately sign him, but it's also worth noting that they're up against the salary cap. That isn't to say that they won't be able to agree to terms, but it might complicate matters.
Oct 1 - 10:09 AM

Daniel Winnik will join the Minnesota Wild for training camp on a professional tryout.

Winnik can chip in some points and work on the penalty kill if he lands an NHL contract, but he shouldn't be on your fantasy radar. He earned 12 goals and 13 assists in 72 contests with Washington last season.
Sep 12 - 10:04 AM

Daniel Winnik is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

That's a familiar position for Winnik, who has already played for seven different teams, but it's not one he's looking forward to. "It sucks," Winnik said. "There's a lot of guys in the league that are in the same boat. I'm older now, but I don't think my game's declined at all so hopefully that helps me come free agency if I get there." He had 12 goals and 25 points in 72 games this season. He has expressed an interest in re-signing with the Capitals.
May 14 - 4:55 PM

Daniel Winnik scored two goals, including the game winner, in a 4-1 victory by the Capitals over the Coyotes.

Winnik was coming off a seven-game streak without a single point. This was only the fourth time this season that he had a multi-point game and the second time he scored two goals.
Mar 25 - 10:09 PM

Daniel Winnik picked up his second goal in as many games during Saturday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Red Wings.

He has three points in that span as well. Through 47 games this season he has eight goals and 18 points.
Feb 18 - 6:39 PM

Daniel Winnik scored his first goal in his last six games during Thursday's 2-1 shootout loss to the Devils.

The veteran winger now has five goals and eight points in 24 games thus far. Which, unfortunate makes him better suited for the waiver wire.

Daniel Winnik will be a healthy scratch in Tuesday's game against the New York Islanders.

This will be Winnik's second straight game in the press box. The 31-year-old has just one goal in his last 10 games and seven points in 23 games this season. Zachary Sanford and Taylor Chorney will also be healthy scratches tonight.

Daniel Winnik said on Friday that he was playing through a high ankle sprain for a good chunk of the 2015-16 campaign.

Winnik had six goals and 19 points in 76 games last season. His ankle healed up over the summer, so it's presumably a non-factor now. He has four goals on just 15 shots this year along with six points in 18 matches.

Daniel Winnik and Taylor Chorney will be scratched against the Lightning on Saturday.

Winnik has seen just 15 games-worth of action this season, posting just four points with little else to his credit. Chorney has just three games of action himself. So neither have much fantasy value.

Daniel Winnik will sit out Wednesday's game against the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins.

Winnik started in the first six games (6-0-2-2) before sitting five of the last eight. Brett Connolly will draw into the lineup as a replacement. Joining him in the press box will be Taylor Chorney who dressed last game and earned an assist in 12 minutes of ice time.

Daniel Winnik will tag in for Brett Connolly for Saturday's match with Florida.

Winnik has two goals and not much else through six games this season. He'll line up on the fourth line to the right of Zachary Sanford and Jay Beagle and also see time on the penalty kill.

Daniel Winnik will be a healthy scratch against the Jets on Tuesday.

Winnik has two goals in six games with the Capitals this season. This will be Winnik's third straight game as a healthy scratch. He's more a bottom-six, defensive forward than a fantasy producer.
Tue, Nov 1, 2016 08:10:00 PM

Coach Barry Trotz will forego any lineup changes for Sunday's match with Edmonton.

Which means that Daniel Winnik and Taylor Chorney will continue to sit. The veteran winger Winnik has two points in six games so far this season.
