Daniel Winnik scored both goals in the Washington Capitals 2-1 victory over the New York Islanders Saturday night.

This was some exceptional production from the fourth-line shooter. Winnik recorded a multi-goal game for only the fifth time in his career and the second since he joined the Capitals.
Oct 16 - 1:17 AM

Daniel Winnik finally scored with Capitals, and he did so twice.

Winnik had gone scoreless through his first seven games with the Capitals, but on Friday night he scored twice as the Caps cruised to a 4-1 win over the Predators.
Mar 18 - 11:31 PM

Daniel Winnik will play for the Capitals when they take on the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Verizon Center tonight.

Winnik was traded on Sunday night from Toronto to Washington. Winnik will be on the fourth line tonight, alongside center Mike Richards and winger Jay Beagle. Other newly acquired Mike Weber will play in his second game for the Capitals tonight after making his debut last night against the Penguins, who had five blocked shots.
Mar 2 - 12:41 PM

Daniel Winnik and Michael Latta will be scratched against Pittsburgh on Tuesday.

Through 56 games with Toronto, Winnik posted 14 points with 35 blocks and 41 hits. So not much fantasy value there unfortunately.

The Toronto Maple Leafs traded Daniel Winnik and Anaheim's fifth-round pick in 2016 to Washington for Brooks Laich, Connor Carrick and a second-round pick in 2016.

Winnik is good at killing penalties and blocking shots. He'll add another capable body to Washington's bottom-two lines. This trade cost the Capitals a second-round pick because of the difference in salary between Brooks Laich ($4.5 million) and Winnik ($2.25 million). Both players are signed through next season. None of the three players involved in this trade will have any fantasy value down the stretch.
Feb 29 - 12:23 AM

Daniel Winnik will be back in the lineup Tuesday.

He will skate alongside Byron Froese and Rich Clune on the fourth line. It is suspected that he missed Saturday's game because he was feeling banged up. Josh Leivo is projected to be scratched to make room for Winnik's return.
Jan 19 - 5:30 PM

Daniel Winnik will miss Saturday match with Boston and Rich Clune takes his place.

No word yet on the reasoning, but the game just got a lot more interesting if nothing else. The hometown boy Winnik has posted just 11 points and not much else through 39 games of his second tour of duty with Toronto.
Jan 16 - 6:45 PM

Daniel Winnik earned a pair of assists in Toronto's 5-4 OT loss against San Jose on Thursday night.

He has three points in his last two outings to give him a total of 11 on the year. Winnik shouldn't be on your fantasy radar in standard leagues, but he is decent two-way player.

Daniel Winnik will get back into the lineup on Monday.

He will replace injured winger Joffrey Lupul when Toronto hosts Edmonton. Winnik has been scratched for the past two games. He feels like he returned too soon from a lower-body injury, but he's ready to compete again now.

Forward Daniel Winnik and defenseman Frank Corrado will be the likely scratches against the Capitals Saturday night.

It looks as if Martin Marincin will draw back in due to the demotion of Scott Harrington. None of these roster moves will have any fantasy impact.
Sat, Nov 28, 2015 11:30:00 AM

Daniel Winnik will be a healthy scratch in Monday's game against the Boston Bruins.

The 30-year-old has two goals, seven points and a plus-4 rating in 20 games this season. Frank Corrado and Martin Marincin will also watch the game from the press box.
Mon, Nov 23, 2015 07:24:00 PM

Daniel Winnik returned to Toronto's lineup Thursday.

He sat out Tuesday's game with a lower-body injury, but was back in the fold quickly. Winnik had two shots in 12:39 of ice time against Nashville.
Fri, Nov 13, 2015 02:31:00 AM

Daniel Winnik will be replaced by Peter Hollan in Tuesday's tilt with Dallas.

Winnik has had a nice season so far for his hometown team, posting six points, 12 blocks, and 14 hits in 14 games. Holland just two points in nine games, with little else to show for his efforts. Neither are recommendable fantasy options.

Daniel Winnik (lower body) skated Monday and will travel with the team to Dallas.

Still, he is considered doubtful to play Tuesday night versus the Stars. Winnik suffered a lower-body injury on Saturday after he scored his second goal of the season.
