Daniel Winnik has a goal and five points in eight games this month.
Winnik has six goals and 14 points in 26 contests in 2013. As you might guess, he's a borderline player in standard leagues and he's not likely to do any better for the remainder of the season. Mar 16 - 4:42 PM

Daniel Winnik is getting a chance to play on the top line with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry.

That is what scoring five goals in four games will do for you. Coach Bruce Boudreau loves to switch up the lines and putting Winnik up top is his current move. "Once you get to know me, you'll see my lines change a lot," Boudreau said. "I'll usually keep two of them together, but the third guy can change if I feel someone is going or not going." Obviously do not expect Winnik to keep up anything close to this pace but he could pot 15 goals if he can keep it up.
Jan 29 - 6:35 AM

Daniel Winnik is the first player to start his Anaheim Ducks career with back-to-back two-goal showings.

When you think of some of the talent that has been on the Ducks over the years, including Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne, that's a pretty impressive feat. Winnik has never scored more than 11 goals in a single season and might stay hot for a bit longer, he shouldn't be regarded as a long-term option in standard fantasy leagues.
Jan 23 - 8:16 AM

Perhaps Daniel Winnik is worthy of a spot on your fantasy team, after all.

While the left winger has been perceived generally as a defensive-minded player, he has scored four goals in his first two games with the Ducks this season and lifted Anaheim to a 5-4 victory over the Flames in Calgary Monday night. Winnik became the first player in Ducks history to record multiple-goal games in his first two with the team. Winnik also added an assist Monday. Anaheim captain Ryan Getzlaf scored twice, too, his first two of the season. Also contributing significantly for the Ducks was Saku Koivu, who produced his first goal of 2013 as well as two assists. Andrew Cogliano and Corey Perry also notched two assists apiece. The Ducks had a 3-0 lead in this one before the Flames tied it at 3-3 early in the second period.
Jan 21 - 11:38 PM

Daniel Winnik's debut for the Ducks couldn't have gone much better.

He scored twice while playing on a line with Saku Koivu and Andrew Cogliano. Before you get all excited about Winnik's offensive potential, bear in mind that his season-high point total is 26. He's a good hockey player but has little or no fantasy value.
Jan 20 - 9:28 AM

Daniel Winnik is projected to start the shortened season on the Anaheim Ducks' third line.

He should play alongside Saku Koivu and Andrew Cogliano. He should also help the Ducks kill penalties. He's a defensive forward with some offensive upside, but not enough to make him worth considering in standard leagues.

Dan Winnik was surprised by the NHL's harsh reaction to the union's latest proposal.

The NHL was expecting the union to give them a yes or no response to three issues the league considers essential points. Those key issues are: five-year player contract limits, the length of the CBA agreement, and transition issues between the old and new CBA. Rather than provide them with a yes or no response to those issues, the union came back with a counterproposal and the NHL responded by rejecting it and pulling all the compromises they've made over the past week off the table. "They asked us to address their three main issues," said Winnik. "And that's what we thought we were doing today. We didn't know by us not completely agreeing to what they want was that's it. I should say we didn't think it would lead to that." Winnik described what happened last night as "insane."

Daniel Winnik thinks he'll serve as a penalty killer and a third liner on the Anaheim Ducks.

Winnik recently inked a two-year/$3.6 million contract with Anaheim. He's also hoping to score more goals after netting just eight last season. "Last year, I probably had the most chances I have had in my NHL career," Winnik said. "Shots-wise, I had a lot and created a lot. So hopefully the point production goes up. Hopefully my linemates around me score a little more too."

Daniel Winnik has inked a two-year/$3.6 million contract with the Anaheim Ducks.

Winnik had eight goals and 23 points in 84 games last season with the Colorado Avalanche and San Jose Sharks. There's a chance that he'll get some playing time on one of Anaheim's top two lines, but he should be regarded as more of a bottom-six forward.

Daniel Winnik scored for the first time in 44 games -- that's no typo -- in the San Jose Sharks' 2-1 triumph over the Boston Bruins on Thursday night.

His goal was the game-winner, to boot. The winger has six goals and 20 points on the season. The goal was his first since Dec. 15. The more exciting fantasy option, Joe Pavelski, had the other goal, his 27th, in the first period. Patrick Marleau, Joe Thornton and Andrew Desjardins chipped in with the helpers.

Daniel Winnik will make his San Jose debut tonight and will do so on the second line.

Winnik will join Joe Pavelski on a line centered by Patrick Marleau against the visiting Flyers tonight. Winnik was acquired along with T.J. Galiardi – who will be on the third line – from Colorado at the deadline.

The San Jose Sharks have acquired Daniel Winnik, T.J. Galiardi, and a seventh round pick from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Jamie McGinn, Mike Connelly and Michael Sgarbossa.

Winnik had five goals and 18 points in 63 games. He's not going to have much, if any, fantasy value with the San Jose Sharks, but he will bolster the team's depth.

Daniel Winnik has played on each of Colorado's four lines and in every offensive position this season.

Winnik most recently served as a left winger on the same line as TJ Galiardi and Peter Mueller. His versatility makes him a great guy for the Avalanche to own, but he still doesn't have much value in standard leagues. He has 14 points in 46 games this season and we don't see him getting much more than 25 points overall in 2011-12.

Daniel Winnick was placed on the top line alongside Paul Stastny and Matt Duchene Thursday.

The injury to David Jones created a void on the top unit and Winnik showed that he belonged with a goal and an assist along with a fight, in the 5-4 loss to San Jose. Winnik has five goals and 13 points and he saw second power play duty as well, alongside Stastny and T.J. Galiardi with Erik Johnson and Kyle Quincey, while Gabriel Landeskog, Duchene, Milan Hejduk, Stefan Elliott and Ryan O'Reilly played on the first unit. Winnik will have fantasy value on the top line, but when Jones returns and he is day-to-day, he should go back down the depth chart.

Daniel Winnik was a healthy scratch for the first time this season.

Dave Koci was put into the lineup in his place. "There's different reasons that I have," Colorado coach Joe Sacco said. "I'm not going to get into the specifics of it, but I thought that "Koc" would be beneficial in the lineup for us tonight against that team and some of the players they have." Cameron Gaunce was also a healthy scratch.
