Mark Fistric was in contract negotiations with the Edmonton Oilers prior to the trade deadline.
"They made a quick back and forth, but it died off," Fistric said. "There was an offer, but over two or three days we couldn't find the middle ground." He's scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. Apr 19 - 10:13 AM

Date:

Mark Fistric will draw into the lineup Monday.

Fistric has been a healthy scratch for the last seven games. Coach Ralph Krueger did not want to fiddle with the Oilers lineup while they were winning but since Edmonton has lost their last two games, changes will be made. He has two assists and is a plus-three in 17 games this season.
Apr 8 - 8:18 AM

It has yet to be determined whether defenseman Mark Fistric will sit up for the Oilers in Sunday's game against Nashville.

Fistric was activated from injured reserve on Friday so he may step into the lineup in place of Corey Potter, but that has not been decided yet. If you're hanging on to either Fistric or Potter we suggest you find alternatives, pronto.
Mar 17 - 10:09 AM

Mark Fistric was activated off injured reserve.

The Oilers were able to add Fistric to the active roster once Ben Eager cleared waivers. It remains to be seen if Fistric will get into the lineup as the Oilers have eight healthy NHL defensemen.
Mar 15 - 10:17 AM

Mark Fistric (elbow) has rejoined his Edmonton teammates and could play on Tuesday as the Oilers conclude their nine game road trip.

Fistric suffered the elbow injury on Feb. 28 and it became infected requiring Fistric to enter have IV three times a day for a couple of days. "It hurt. It was throbbing, but at the time we had four D so you don't think about it. You just try and get through the period," Fistric said after finishing the game despite getting hurt in the second period. "After the game, I said to Ladi (Smid), is there something wrong with my elbow? He said, 'yeah, you're going to need stitches.'" He has little fantasy value so pass on him at this time.
Mar 11 - 7:51 AM

Edmonton GM Steve Tambellini said the club will place Mark Fistric (elbow) on injured reserve to make room for Mike Brown on the team's roster.

He has sat out the past two games with an elbow injury and is considered day-to-day.
Mar 4 - 5:07 PM

Mark Fistric (back) returned to action on Sunday.

Fistric played 16:26 minutes and was plus-two Sunday. He was hurt on Monday when he missed hitting the Canucks Jordan Schroeder and his back locked up on him. Fistric has one assist in six games with 23 hits, 12 blocks and a plus-two rating, giving him some value in pools that use those categories.
Feb 11 - 1:53 AM

Mark Fistric (back) should return to Edmonton's lineup on Saturday.

Fistric sustained the injury when he attempted to hit Canucks forward Jordan Schroeder and missed. "I go all in, on all of my hits and, unfortunately, some of them, I miss," Fistric said. " I've had a few bumps and bruises, but nothing major. My back just kind of locked up on me."
Feb 8 - 10:19 AM

Mark Fistric is being listed as day-to-day with a back injury.

He was limited to just 4:40 of ice time against Vancouver Monday because of the ailment. In five games with the Oilers, Fistric has one assist, 17 hits and 11 blocked shots.
Feb 6 - 5:14 PM

Mark Fistric and Darcy Hordichuk were healthy scratches on Monday.

Just an FYI. Fistric was picked up from the Dallas Stars before the start of the season but it looks like he is just a depth defenseman at this time.
Jan 29 - 9:35 AM

Mark Fistric will make his Edmonton debut Thursday night when the Oilers host the Los Angeles Kings.

He sat out the team's previous two games as a healthy scratch. Corey Potter will head to the press box to make room for him. "There will definitely be a lot of nerves putting on the jersey for the first time," said the Edmonton-born defenseman, who was acquired from Dallas last week. Once his jitters are out of the way, look for him to try to set the tone with some physical play.
Jan 24 - 4:45 PM

Edmonton has acquired defenseman Mark Fistric from Dallas in exchange for a 2013 third-round draft pick.

The trade will be finalized after Fistric passes a physical. The Edmonton native has 257 games of NHL experience, but he never discovered a niche while with the Stars. His top-six spot with the team wasn't guaranteed going into this season, but he should earn a position on the Oilers' inexperienced back end. He doesn't have any fantasy value unless you are in desperate need of hits or blocked shots in a very deep league.
Jan 14 - 2:44 PM

Mark Fistric is slated to become an unrestricted free agent next summer, but changes to the CBA could impact his status.

The NHL wants to alter the age of free agency and how entry-level deals work, so Fistric could be a restricted free agent by the time the 2012-13 seasons ends. Either way he will be looking to have a strong year, but could face another reduced role with the Stars after the team signed Aaron Rome this off-season. Dallas is also expected to give Philip Larsen more ice time, in addition to giving long looks to young blueliners Brenden Dillon, Jamie Oleksiak and Patrik Nemeth, which may result in Fistric being bumped from the top-six group. Fistric is a physical, stay-at-home defenseman, who won't offer much in the way of offense, and there's a strong chance that he will be traded at some point this year.

Mark Fistric has inked a one-year/$1.475 million contract extension with the Dallas Stars.

Fistric had an arbitration hearing scheduled for August 1. He's a defensive defenseman who had 235 hits and 105 blocked shots in 60 games last season. He's not expected to have any fantasy value in standard leagues.

Mark Fistric and the Dallas Stars are scheduled to meet for their arbitration hearing on August 1.

Of course, the two sides can avoid doing that if they agree to terms before the hearing. Fistric only had two points last season, but he finished second on the team in hits and third in blocked shots.
