Mike Brown will be a healthy scratch in Thursday's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The 30-year-old tough guy will sit for the first time since Mar. 5. He has two goals five points and 90 penalty minutes in 57 games this season. Brendan Gallagher, P.K. Subban, Lucas Lessio, Victor Bartley and Mark Barberio will miss the game because of injury.

That was in doubt after Brown left Thursday's contest before its conclusion. Fortunately he was back on the ice Friday morning and it seems like he won't need to miss a full game.

Mike Brown scored a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Anaheim Ducks.

Brown isn't exactly known for his offensive flair, so it's nice to see him produce every once in a while. His second period goal gave the Canadiens a 3-2 lead and he also picked up the primary assist on Lucas Lessio's game-winning goal. The 30-year-old hadn't registered a point since Jan. 21 and he hadn't scored a goal since Oct. 13. The goal and assist were his first as a member of the Canadiens.

Mike Brown is being seen as a "big brother" to the younger players on the Canadiens roster, according to Michel Therrien.

Brown was claimed off waivers from San Jose at the end of February and he's brought some physicality to the lineup. "He’s kind of a big brother to those young players," said Therrien. "He’s a physical presence. He brings a lot of energy. We wanted to make sure we’re a tough team to play against and he certainly showed that yesterday. He played 10 minutes and he had nine hits, so he came to work and he did a good job."

Victor Bartley is the defenseman sitting this game out as well. Brown, who was acquired from the San Jose Sharks on Monday's trade deadline, dressed for the Habs that same night, against his former team. He played 11:30 and a minus-1 in his debut.

Unfortunately their fantasy value has been stymied by a whole lot of not playing. Tennyson hasn't played since Dec. 8th, and Brown hasn't played since Jan. 24th. The veteran pugilist's 119 hits and 59 PIMs are impressive though, so keep him in mind if you ever need a plug.
