Date:

Cody McLeod has three goals in his last two games.

McLeod hasn't spent any time in the sin bin this month, which is typically the principal source of his value in fantasy leagues. Obviously his recent offensive outburst helps, but we don't expect it to continue.

Feb 13 - 8:52 AM

The Avalanche re-signed Cody McLeod to a three-year, $3.45 million deal.

With six goals and 11 points, the physical forward doesn't do too much in the scoring department but he is good for accumulating penalty minutes, as he amassed 164 of them this year. McLeod was due to be an unrestricted free agent. He made $1.2 million this past season.

Don't be surprised if Cody McLeod is traded to the Canucks.

Vancouver could be looking for an agitator, and with Steve Downie on board, the Avs may be able to spare McLeod. It is also not secret that Canuck GM Mike Gillis is a fan of the Colorado pest.

Cody McLeod is a single penalty away from reaching the 100 PIM mark for the fifth time in his five-season old career.

McLeod doesn't do a lot offensively, but the physical forward currently ranks fifth in the league in PIM. If and when McLeod gets his next penalty, he'll become the first Avalanche player to get at least 100 PIM in five straight campaigns.

Cody McLeod had 14 penalty minutes as the Colorado Avalanche were blanked 4-0 by the St. Louis Blues.

The Avs could get nothing going on offense all night -- getting two shots in the first, seven in the second and six in the third, with Ryan O'Reilly and Gabriel Landeskog leading the team with three. If you can live with next to nothing offensively, McLeod is one of the best when it comes to penalty minutes, as his 98 ranks him sixth in the league.

The Colorado Avalanche aren't sure if Cody McLeod will be suspended for his hit from behind on Minnesota's Jared Supergeon on Monday night.

McLeod received a five-minute major and a game misconduct on the play. He has three points and 79 penalty minutes in 30 games this year. If he isn't suspended then he'll be in the lineup on Tuesday night versus Winnipeg.

The Colorado Avalanche are in a complete free-fall this season.

The Avs have now lost 15 of the last 16 games, the most recent to the NHL’s worst Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers are now just six points behind Colorado in the standings. "Our compete level's got to be better, all the way from our first line to our fourth line, from our top 'D' to our bottom 'D,' " winger Cody McLeod said. This is an embarrassing time for Colorado fans.

Cody McLeod (groin) will return to action on Friday.

McLeod has been out since December 27 and the Avs could use his grit back in the lineup. McLeod chips in with the occasional point but his true fantasy value is in his penalty minute totals as he was third in the NHL before the injury. Get him back in your lineup if you need the minutes.

He has skated the past two days at practice, but doesn't appear to be quite ready to return to the Colorado lineup. McLeod's last appearance came on Dec. 27 against Detroit.
