Teddy Purcell was released from his PTO on Monday.
Boston wasn't expected to sign him, so this move doesn't come as a surprise. Purcell had 10 goals and 38 points in 38 games with the Ontario Reign of the AHL last year. He also had two assists in 12 outings with the Los Angeles Kings. Oct 3 - 9:59 AM

Teddy Purcell is unlikely to earn a contract with the Boston Bruins.

Purcell has been skating with the Bruins on a professional tryout. "He was a bit of a buffer in case our young guys didn't come through," said coach Bruce Cassidy. "I think we are happy with the young guys for the most part. If we include Heinen in that mix, and I thought [vs. Chicago] he was on pucks, had some chances, made some plays ... he did well for himself. I like what Teddy brings, but we've put an emphasis on trying to get some youth and speed in the lineup, and if that's what we decide, then those guys will be ahead of him."

It's likely going to take a series of injuries or rookies who are underperforming for Teddy Prucell to break camp with the Bruins.

Purcell is in Boston camp on a professional tryout and will have his work cut out for him to make the squad. He will need a few wingers to come up lame or young players such as Jake DeDrusk and/or Anders Bjork and Danton Heinen to fall on their collective faces to earn a roster spot. Purcell spent most of the 2016-17 campaign in the AHL and has not been a fantasy factor for years. We're not bullish on his chances.
Sep 17 - 8:38 AM

Teddy Purcell will attend Boston's training camp on a professional tryout.

Purcell suited up in just 12 games with the Los Angeles Kings last season and he chipped in two assists. He was demoted to the minors in December and he generated 38 points in 38 games with the AHL's Ontario Reign.
Sep 14 - 12:40 PM

The LA Kings have sent Teddy Purcell down to AHL Ontario.

With Purcell down on the farm, the Kings will retrieve $950K of his $1.6M cap hit. The 31-year-old winger has been hampered by poor health and ineffective play all season. He posted just a pair of helpers in 12 games.

Teddy Purcell cleared waivers on Sunday.

However it's not yet clear what the next step will be for the veteran winger. He could stick around, be sent to AHL Ontario, be traded, have his contract terminated, or loaned abroad. Of course, it's the first two options that are most likely. We shall see.

Teddy Purcell has been placed on waivers by the Kings.

And thus a dreadful season for Purcell takes another sour turn. The 31-year-old winger has been hampered by poor health and ineffective play all season. He posted just a pair of helpers in 12 games. Purcell carries a $1.6 hit to the cap, and the Kings will be spared just over half of it should he go unclaimed and sent to the AHL.

Teddy Purcell and Jeff Zatkoff will not play in Saturday's match against the Blackhawks.

Purcell will now have gone a full week without playing, which is no surprise given that he's posted just two points in 12 games so far this season.

Teddy Purcell earned his first point with the Kings on Friday in a 2-1 loss to Ottawa.

He contributed the secondary assist on a goal by Dwight King. Purcell didn't have a point in his previous six appearances this season.

Teddy Purcell will get back into the lineup on Thursday versus Pittsburgh.

He missed eight games because of a nagging lower-body injury and an illness. "Hopefully [he'll bring] that element of scoring," coach Darryl Sutter said. "He has the ability to do that, create and hang on to pucks in the offensive zone." Purcell is projected to join the top line alongside Tanner Pearson and Anze Kopitar.

Teddy Purcell, Jordan Nolan and Matt Greene will each be scratched from Saturday's match with the Blues.

This will be six straight games on the pine for Purcell, though it sounds like he's nearing a return. Nolan and Greene have also failed to produce thus far, so feel free to leave them on the wire.

Teddy Purcell is apparently only at 90 percent after he was "banged up" and sick at the end of training camp.

Purcell has been scratched for the last five games after he played in the first two matches of the season.

Teddy Purcell, Jordan Nolan and Matt Greene will each be scratched from Thursday's match with Nashville.

Unfortunately, this trio has become the Kings' standard scratches which indicates that they don't have much of a role with the team. At least not at this time. So they don't offer much fantasy value.

Teddy Purcell, Jordan Nolan and Matt Greene will each be scratched from Saturday's match with Vancouver.

Unfortunately none of these three have managed to make an impact on the stat sheet. Purcell has been especially disappointing given his talent level and the production he provided last season. If he ever gets going though, he'll make for solid depth for both you and LA.

Teddy Purcell, Jordan Nolan and Matt Greene will each be scratched from Thursday's match with Dallas.

Purcell has been a disappointment through two games played with no points and just over 12 minutes of ice per. Nolan, who is more known for his physical play, hasn't been. Greene has been better, with seven hits in two games, is seeing about as much time as Purcell, which does not bode well for his long term prospects.
