Justin Abdelkader will continue to play on the Red Wings' fourth line until he is in game shape.

Justin Abdelkader scored the only goal in a 2-1 loss of the Detroit Red Wings to the Montreal Canadiens Saturday night.

Abdelkader’s larger contribution on the night might have been in drawing penalties. He drew a roughing penalty by Phillip Danault in the second and gave the Wings a great opportunity to win in overtime when he was slashed by Shea Weber. Unfortunately that last penalty gave Weber a chance to catch his breath as he had an assist in the overtime goal sunk by Alex Galchenyuk.
