Justin Abdelkader will be back from a knee injury Tuesday against Chicago.

Abdelkader isn't listed on injured reserve anymore. He could be on a line with Dylan Larkin and Tomas Tatar, which is where he spent Monday's practice. Abdelkader has sat out the last 16 matches due to a sprained MCL.

Justin Abdelkader is hoping to return to action Tuesday against the Blackhawks.

Abdelkader has been sidelined since December 1st with a sprained MCL, but appears to be ready to return to the Red Wings' lineup. He will have to get through the next few days of practice without any setbacks but it looks as if Abdelkader will be a player next week.

While that's an encouraging step, Abdelkader's return isn't believed to be imminent. As it is, he's already missed a little more than a month due to the knee injury.

The Red Wings have placed Justin Abdelkader on seven-day I/R with a sprained MCL.

The veteran winger is expected to miss the next two-to-four weeks, so this is just a perfunctory move so they can make a call-up from Grand Rapids. Abdelkader has four goals and eight points and 13 PIMs in 22 games this season.

"We never know until they take pics," GM Ken Holland told the Detroit Free Press. It looked like Abdelkader suffered a right leg/foot when he fell awkwardly following a collision with Florida's Vincent Trocheck during the fist period on Thursday night.

Justin Abdelkader scored the only goal in a 2-1 loss of the Detroit Red Wings to the Montreal Canadiens Saturday night.

Abdelkader’s larger contribution on the night might have been in drawing penalties. He drew a roughing penalty by Phillip Danault in the second and gave the Wings a great opportunity to win in overtime when he was slashed by Shea Weber. Unfortunately that last penalty gave Weber a chance to catch his breath as he had an assist in the overtime goal sunk by Alex Galchenyuk.

Justin Abdelkader had a team-high four shots on goal in Detroit's 1-0 loss to the Washington Capitals on Friday night.

The game was scoreless until late in the third period when Jay Beagle beat Jimmy Howard for the only goal of the game. It's been a tough start to the year for Abdelkader. He hasn't scored in five games and he has just three goals and one assist in 16 games.

Abdelkader's first period goal gives him a three game points streak, but the Wings eventually fell 2-1 to the Oilers. Abdelkader has three goals and four points in 11 games.

Justin Abdelakder found the back of the net in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Winnipeg Jets.

Abdelkader scored a huge goal in the third period to give the Wings a 3-2 lead with less than 10 minutes remaining. Unfortunately for Detroit, they watched as Winnipeg scored three unanswered goals. Abdelkader finished the game with two shots on goal and two hits in 18 minutes of ice time. The 29-year-old is off to a disappointing start, as he has just two goals and one assist in 10 games.

Justin Abdelkader earned an assist Wednesday in Detroit's 4-3 overtime loss to Philadelphia.

He has recorded just one goal and two points in nine games to start the 2016-17 season. Coach Jeff Blashill has encouraged Abdelkader to keep playing the way he has early in the season and eventually the puck will bounce his way.
