"We never know until they take pics," GM Ken Holland told the Detroit Free Press. It looked like Abdelkader suffered a right leg/foot when he fell awkwardly following a collision with Florida's Vincent Trocheck during the fist period on Thursday night.

Justin Abdelkader scored the only goal in a 2-1 loss of the Detroit Red Wings to the Montreal Canadiens Saturday night.

Abdelkader’s larger contribution on the night might have been in drawing penalties. He drew a roughing penalty by Phillip Danault in the second and gave the Wings a great opportunity to win in overtime when he was slashed by Shea Weber. Unfortunately that last penalty gave Weber a chance to catch his breath as he had an assist in the overtime goal sunk by Alex Galchenyuk.

Justin Abdelkader had a team-high four shots on goal in Detroit's 1-0 loss to the Washington Capitals on Friday night.

The game was scoreless until late in the third period when Jay Beagle beat Jimmy Howard for the only goal of the game. It's been a tough start to the year for Abdelkader. He hasn't scored in five games and he has just three goals and one assist in 16 games.

Abdelkader scored a huge goal in the third period to give the Wings a 3-2 lead with less than 10 minutes remaining. Unfortunately for Detroit, they watched as Winnipeg scored three unanswered goals. Abdelkader finished the game with two shots on goal and two hits in 18 minutes of ice time. The 29-year-old is off to a disappointing start, as he has just two goals and one assist in 10 games.
