Justin Abdelkader did a good job screening Columbus' Sergei Bobrovsky during Tuesday's 5-0 win.

He was in front of the net on Detroit's first two goals of the game and he picked up an assist on Gustav Nyquist's power-play tally. "He keeps getting better," coach Mike Babcock said. "We had four net-front presences on five goals, which is important playing against that goalie. With Bobrovsky, you have to find a way to get inside. You try to do that every night; some nights you get there and some nights you don't. Good for Abby." He has recorded 12 points in 18 games this year.

Nov 18 - 8:51 AM

The Detroit power play came alive against Los Angeles Friday night.

After struggling for much of the season the Wings' first power-play unit featuring Justin Abdelkader, Pavel Datsyuk, Henrik Zetterberg, Gustav Nyquist and Niklas Kronwall has begun to click. In the 5-2 win over LA Friday night the Wings tallied twice with the extra man and had another PP marker Wednesday night. Although Abdelkader did not register a PP point Friday night, he did get an assist on an even-strength goal and is fitting in very well on Detroit's first line alongside Datsyuk and Zetterberg. First line PP and first line general duty makes Abdelkader worth rostering.
