Coach Mike Babcock wants to see more from Justin Abdelkader.

"He's really come (far), but he's got to get going now," Babcock said. "It's like anything — there are ebbs and flows during the year. We need him to be on fire here this next little while with six games on the road, we need him to be a factor." Abdelkader hasn't registered a point in his last five games and he has one goal in his past 15 appearances. He has already established a personal best with 12 goals this season and the next point he gets will give him a new career high as well.

Justin Abdelkader potted his 12th of season in Thursday's 3-0 win over Colorado.

While on the power play, Abdelkader was left all alone by the goal line and put home his own rebound to open the game's scoring midway through. The goal proved to be all Petr Mrazek needed, and was Abdelkader's first goal since Jan. 7th in Calgary. He now has a dozen tallies, four on the power play, and 28 points through 44 games this season.

Justin Abdelkader scored and added an assist in Detroit's 3-2 win over Calgary on Wednesday night.

It was his second goal in as many nights as he has racked up five points in a two night span. Abdelkader's 11 goals is a new career high as he is enjoying a breakout season with 23 points in 34 games. He is playing big minutes with top players on the Red Wings and he should be owned and started every game in all formats. Henrik Zetterberg also scored and added an assist while Gustav Nyquist picked up two assists.

Justin Abdelkader scored and added two assists for Detroit in a 4-2 win over Edmonton on Tuesday.

It looked like he may had been responsible for the game winning goal but instead replay showed that Pavel Datsyuk was the last player to touch it for Detroit. Nevertheless it was another good effort for Abdelkader who has points in three of the last five games. He continues his breakout season with 21 points in 31 games. Pavel Datsyuk added a goal and assist while Luke Glendening and Kyle Quincy notched the other two goals.

He has found the back of the net in both games for the Wings since returning from the Christmas break and he has a three-game point streak. Abdelkader is on pace for career highs in all offensive categories.

Abdelkader missed seven straight games due to the injury. His return could be bad news for Tomas Jurco as Abdelkader is likely to take his spot on a line with Henrik Zetterberg and Gustav Nyquist. Abdelkader has seven goals and 15 points in 24 games this season.

He's projected to be cleared to play Tuesday versus Columbus. Coach Mike Babcock expects Abdelkader to return after missing the past seven matches with a shoulder injury. Look for him to be taken off injured reserve at some point today if that is the case.

He's retroactive to Nov. 30 and was moved to the team's IR to make a roster spot available for defenseman Xavier Ouellet. Abdelkader skated on Thursday at practice without a no-contact jersey, so he could be nearing a return to the lineup.

It does not appear that Justin Abdelkader will play until sometime next week at the earliest as he must first put his injured shoulder through some vigorous playing conditions before returning to action.

Abdelkader has been ruled out for this weekend's games but he might be ready to play next Wednesday against the Maple Leafs. We will update you as to his condition over the next few days.

Justin Abdelkader has recovered from the flu, but is still dealing with a shoulder injury.

Now that Abdelkader isn't battling an illness he can at least resume skating. He was on the ice Friday after the Red Wings' practice. Don't count on him returning Saturday or Sunday.

Justin Abdelkader, who has a shoulder injury, is also battling the flu.

So as it turns out, Abdelkader wouldn't have played on Tuesday even if he wasn't injured. With regards to both problems, Abdelkader should be regarded as day-to-day.

Justin Abdelkader (shoulder) won't play Tuesday.

He suffered a shoulder injury in Sunday's win against Vancouver. He is listed as day-to-day. Abdelkader is enjoying a career year offensively, with seven goals and 15 points in 24 games, so hopefully he can get back in the lineup soon.
