The move was made necessary when Matt Greene injured his back on Saturday, an injury that is likely to keep him on the shelf for the remainder of the season. He played five games for the Bruins in 2010 and signed a one-year deal with the Kings in the off-season. He has no fantasy value.

Bodnarchuk played in five NHL games last season, but that wasn't enough for him to last longer in the Bruins' training camp. He might get called up later in the 2010-11 campaign if one of the Bruins defensemen suffers an injury.

No terms were announced for the defenseman. Bodnarchuk played five games in the NHL last season getting a solitary minor penalty. He also had five goals and 15 points in 70 games with Providence of the AHL last season. He has no fantasy value and will likely play most of the season in the minors once again.

The Bruins have agreed to terms with prospect Andrew Bodnarchuk on a three-year entry-level deal.

The defenseman was the 128th overall selection in the 2006 Entry Draft. He is currently captain of the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League where he will remain until their season is over. Then he will likely join the Providence Bruins of the AHL, if their season is still ongoing. He has recorded nine goals and 32 helpers in 55 games this season.
