Jeremy Smith allowed three goals on 28 shots in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Nashville Predators.
Smith's second start of the season went a lot like his first one. Both times, he allowed three goals and lost. The Avalanche have been the worst team in the NHL this season and owning either of their goalies in fantasy isn't a recipe for success. Smith will enter his next game with a 3.08 goals-against-average and a .912 save percentage. Feb 23 - 11:44 PM

Date:

Jeremy Smith will be in net against Nashville on Thursday.

The 27-year-old stopped 37 of the 40 shots New Jersey sent his way in his career debut, though that went for a loss. He owns a 5-8 record in 17 games this season with a .911 save percentage and a 2.57 GAA for AHL San Antonio.
Feb 23 - 6:12 PM

Jeremy Smith will get another start soon, according to coach Jared Bednar.

His next game action could come as early as Friday night against Carolina. Colorado dropped a 2-0 contest to Buffalo on Thursday, so Smith may play the second game of the back-to-back situation. He made 37 saves on 40 shots in a 3-2 loss to New Jersey on Tuesday in his first NHL start. Stay tuned.

Feb 17 - 10:54 AM

Jeremy Smith dropped a 3-2 decision to the New Jersey Devils in his first career start.

The 27-year-old stopped 37 of 40 shots in the game, but he allowed Devils forward Pavel Zacha to score on New Jersey's first shot at the 2:04 mark of the first period. With the Avs in a tailspin, don't expect many of their players to carry much fantasy value down the stretch.
Feb 14 - 10:10 PM

Jeremy Smith will make his NHL debut in Tuesday's game against the New Jersey Devils.

It's a nice story. The 27-year-old has been in the minors 2009-10 and he never got to play in an NHL game, but that's all going to change. He has a 5-8-0 record with a 2.57 goals-against-average and a .911 save percentage with the AHL's San Antonio Rampage this season. He isn't worth adding in standard fantasy leagues.
Feb 13 - 8:21 PM

Colorado has brought up goaltender Jeremy Smith from the minors.

He has a 5-8-0 record with San Antonio this season along with a .911 save percentage and a 2.57 goals-against average.
Feb 8 - 6:02 PM

Jeremy Smith has been sent to the minors.

Smith was serving as the Avalanche's backup goaltender while Semyon Varlamov was sidelined with a groin injury. However, Varlamov will be back on Friday, so the Avalanche no longer needed Smith's services.

Jan 5 - 3:19 PM

The Colorado Avalanche have recalled Jeremy Smith from the San Antonio Rampage.

This most likely means Semyon Varlamov (groin) won't be able to dress on Tuesday against the Calgary Flames. Smith, was drafted in the 2nd round by the Nashville Predators during the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, and he has yet to appear in a NHL game. Calvin Pickard will most likely get all the starts during Varlamov's absence.

The Colorado Avalanche have assigned Jeremy Smith to AHL San Antonio.

The 27-year-old has yet to make his NHL debut since being drafted 54th overall in 2007 by Nashville, which ought to indicate his potential fantasy value unfortunately

That may happen soon, as the Bruins signed Jonas Gustavsson to a one-year contract worth $700,000 on Sunday. It looks like Gustavsson will start the season as the team's No. 2 goaltender behind Tuukka Rask.
