Theo Peckham was back in the Oiler lineup Friday night against the Predators.
Peckham is obviously over the flu. However the rough and tumble defenseman will continue to rotate in and out of the Edmonton lineup depending on matchups so deploy him accordingly. Mar 9 - 2:26 AM

Theo Peckham has an illness and will not play Tuesday night.

Peckham has played in just three NHL games this season and was sent down to the AHL for a two-game conditioning stint in February. He'll be replaced in the lineup Tuesday by Corey Potter.
Mar 5 - 6:55 PM

The Edmonton Oilers have recalled defenseman Theo Peckham after a two-week conditioning stint with the AHL Barons.

Peckham came to training camp in less than perfect shape after suffering a hip flexor injury just before camp. He did not think the lockout would end in mid-January. "I brought this on myself," Peckham said. "I don't think I'll have to worry about another lockout. What's the CBA? Another eight years. I'll be gone by then. I've got my weight down and it's up to them when I get a chance." Peckham contributes in the penalty minute category and had 29 penalty minutes in four games with Oklahoma City. He is a depth defenseman at this time and will be in the press box Thursday.
Feb 21 - 8:40 AM

The Oilers removed Theo Peckham (hip) from the injured list and added him to the active roster.

Peckham has been practicing with the team after aggravating his hip flexor injury at the start of training camp. He takes Ben Eager's (concussion) place on the roster, but is nothing more than a depth defenseman at this point.
Jan 29 - 2:09 PM

Theo Peckham (hip flexor) continues to practice but is not ready for game action.

Peckham aggravated his hip flexor injury at the start of training camp and is still not ready to go. He is now a depth defenseman with the Oilers but can be counted on for penalty minutes when he gets into the lineup.
Jan 29 - 9:40 AM

Theo Peckham (hip flexor) hasn't been cleared for the Oilers' season opener.

Peckham isn't expected to be available on Sunday at this point. He might end up being sent to the AHL on a conditioning stint.
Jan 18 - 10:35 AM

Theo Peckham has aggravated a hip flexor injury and has been pulled from the Oilers' training camp roster.

Peckham's odds of sticking with Edmonton faded when the team acquired Mark Fistric from Dallas on Monday, but the injury certainly didn't help his cause either. The physical defenseman picked up 80 penalty minutes and 94 hits in 54 games with the Oilers last season.
Jan 14 - 4:55 PM

Theo Peckham has parted ways with the ECHL San Francisco Bulls.

Peckham reportedly asked the team to leave. He ended up with no points and 11 penalty minutes in four games with the squad.

Theo Peckham has signed a deal to play with the San Francisco Bulls of the ECHL.

The Edmonton blueliner will be in a battle for a spot on the Oiler defense once the NHL season starts as Ryan Whitney, Jeff Petry, Corey Potter, Nick Schultz, Ladislav Smid and rookie Justin Schultz look to have spots guaranteed and there are others like Colten Teubert are knocking on the door. Peckham is in the best shape of his career as he took great care in the off-season. Peckham is worth selecting if he makes the Oilers in pools that use penalty minutes as a category. He played only 54 games in 2011-12 as he missed time with a concussion in addition to being a healthy scratch.

Edmonton defenseman Theo Peckham is in the best shape of his career heading into training camp.

Peckham is in a battle to be a top-six defenseman on the Oilers as Ryan Whitney, Andy Sutton, Jeff Petry, Corey Potter, Nick Schultz, Ladislav Smid, rookie Justin Schultz and Colten Teubert are either guaranteed spots on the blueline or are banging on the door looking for a spot. He played at 239 pounds last season and has lost eight pounds thus far and still wants to lose another four. "When I cheat, it shows a little bit more on me than it does on some other people," he said. "I have to stay a lot cleaner with my diet and make sure I stay on top of it. I can’t go four weeks, then have that off-week. And I’m always going to be strong, but the lighter I can get, the faster I can get ... and for me, it was best to be up and down the stairs more than once or twice a week. This is the best shape I’ve ever been in." Peckham played only 54 games last season due to a concussion injury and being a healthy scratch.

Theo Peckham will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing 2011-12 campaign.

Peckham had three points and 80 penalty minutes in 54 games last season. He recently inked a one-year/$1.075 million deal with the Edmonton Oilers. "Obviously last year, I didn’t play as well as I think I could have," Peckham said. "Taking that into the summer, I’m looking to train a little bit harder and play like I did two seasons ago. I don’t think it’s too tough that I can’t do it, I did it once and I think I can obviously do it again. I think once you get a little comfortable getting into the NHL, it can get into your game. I think last year I got too comfortable thinking that I was an NHL player and perhaps wasn’t at the point where I needed to prove it every game. That’s something I want to bring back into my game, proving I belong every time I step out onto the ice." Peckham isn't much of an offensive force either way, but he did accumulate 198 penalty minutes in 2010-11.

Theo Peckham has agreed to a one-year/$1.075 million deal with the Edmonton Oilers.

Peckham had three points and 80 penalty minutes in 54 games in 2011-12. As long as he's healthy, he should spend more time in the sin bin in 2012-13, but he won't help your team much offensively.

Edmonton Oilers defenseman Theo Peckham suffered a concussion during today's Edmonton Oilers-Columbus Blue Jackets game and won't return.

A Rick Nash hit might have been what injured Peckham. The young blueliner doesn't bring much to the table offensively, but his ability to accumulate penalty minutes and eat up a few other smaller categories makes him at least worth a depth consideration for some fantasy owners.

After returning to the Oiler lineup for two games after sitting out for 15, Theo Peckham was a healthy scratch Saturday against Colorado.

Peckham took a couple of penalties Thursday night that led to two Montreal goals and coach Tom Renney was not happy as a result. Peckham's fantasy value is derived from his propensity to amass penalty minutes. If he is in the press box, or suiting up for games worried about drawing penalties, he is worthless from a hockey pool perspective.

Theo Peckham has not been in the Edmonton lineup since the end of January.

While he suffered facial injuries at that time, Peckham has been ready to go ever since Feb. 19 and has been a healthy scratch as the Oilers have eight healthy defenseman and he is the odd man out. "We have to get Theo in, but it’s not always easy. It’s often tougher for the player to explain," coach Tom Renney said. "We have some big decisions to make on some people and he’s one of them, as with others." When he plays, Peckham has value in the penalty minutes category and little else.
