James Reimer allowed four goals on 35 shots in Toronto's 4-1 loss to Detroit on Friday.
Reimer was making his third straight start for the Leafs, but they may go back to Jonathan Bernier after tonight's ugly performance. Although this is only one bad performance from Reimer, the Leafs haven't had great goaltending from Reimer or Bernier. Toronto is prone to making mistakes in their own end and leaky goaltending will not help. The Leafs are now 2-3-0 this season. Oct 17 - 10:59 PM

James Reimer is expected to be between the pipes for Toronto Friday night against Detroit.

He practiced in the home net during the morning skate, which suggests he'll get the nod. Reimer has posted back-to-back wins for the Leafs after Jonathan Bernier lost his first two contests of the year. It has reignited Toronto's battle in the crease, so a timeshare situation is likely forthcoming for the next little while. Bernier will probably start Saturday's rematch against the Red Wings.

It was another good outing for James Riemer who stopped 22-of-24 shots in the Leafs’ 3-2 OT win over the Avalanche on Tuesday.

It is the second straight win in as many starts for the Leafs' "back-up" goalie. It is only four games into the season and Leafs’ coach Randy Carlyle has a decision to make in net. Riemer is 2-0 with a 2.24 GAA and .920 save percentage while Jonathan Bernier is 0-2 with an ugly 4.51 GAA and .882 save percentage. "We felt with the double-header coming against Detroit, (Reimer) had earned the opportunity for the next start (against Colorado)," Carlyle said. "Does that change for Friday? We’ll see. We’ll go with the goalie we feel gives us the best chance for success on Friday night." This situation is definitely worth keeping an eye on as Bernier was considered the starter at the beginning of the season.

James Reimer is projected to start on Tuesday.

Reimer got the nod on Sunday and it was going well until he was hit in the head and consequently left the contest. He said afterwards that he felt fine and only left the contest because the league's protocol made it a requirement.
Oct 14 - 12:22 PM

James Reimer practiced Monday and appeared to be fine after leaving Sunday's contest in the third period.

Dominic Moore of the New York Rangers made contact with Reimer's head when he skated by him and the Leafs goalie left the game as a precaution. Prior to leaving, he had been playing well and he might get the nod on Tuesday versus Colorado.
Oct 14 - 8:59 AM

James Reimer insisted he was fine even though he was forced to leave Sunday's game against the Rangers after slightly over two periods of work.

"I'm fine. Just got bumped on the head and protocol is to come out," he said. "Erred on the side of the caution. I was feeling good. I felt like I was stopping pucks. I felt like I could stay in the game." Reimer defended 24 of 26 shots in a 6-3 victory for the Leafs. New York's Dominic Moore made contact with Reimer's head and after talking it over with the medical staff, the Toronto netminder left the ice for the locker room. If he is healthy then there's a chance that he could be back in goal for the Buds on Tuesday versus Colorado.
Oct 13 - 8:30 AM

James Reimer won his start against the New York Rangers but left the game early in the third period with a head injury.

Reimer stopped 24 of 26 shots in he faced, but left the game in the third period after being clipped in the head by Dominic Moore. The injury is concerning because Reimer has a history of concussion problems. Jonathan Bernier entered the game after Reimer was hurt and stopped 11 of 12 shots he faced.
Oct 12 - 10:04 PM

James Reimer left Sunday's game against the New York Rangers with a head injury.

Reimer picked up the knock after Rangers' forward Dominic Moore collided with him in the third period. Reimer had stopped 24 of 26 shots to that point.
Oct 12 - 9:42 PM

James Reimer played in his first preseason game Wednesday night.

He stopped all 18 shots he faced in the first half of a 4-3 shootout loss against Ottawa. "I think for me there's a few things that I really want to excel at this year and it's just reminding yourself constantly, so that by the time the season comes around it's kind of natural, whether it's in between whistles or when the puck's at the other end," he said. "You're trying to remind yourself to do certain things well." Reimer is entering the 2014-15 campaign with a positive mindset even though he's found himself behind Jonathan Bernier on the Leafs' depth chart.
Sep 25 - 12:07 PM

James Reimer admitted that he didn't see eye-to-eye with Maple Leafs coach Randy Carlyle last season.

Reimer also said that he has nothing against playing for Carlyle. The 26-year-old goaltender is coming off of a rough season and has lost the starting job in Toronto to Jonathan Bernier. We wouldn't be surprised if the Leafs trade him before the start of the 2014-15 campaign.
Jul 28 - 1:28 PM

James Reimer has signed a two-year, $4.6 million contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Reimer had an arbitration hearing scheduled with the Maple Leafs for Monday. He lost the starting job to Jonathan Bernier last season and has reportedly requested a trade. The Maple Leafs might still be able to accommodate his request, but most teams are already locked in when it comes to their goaltending, so Toronto only has a limited number of potential trading partners.
Jul 25 - 5:08 PM

James Reimer is set to have his arbitration hearing on July 28.

Reimer is coming off of a rough season where he posted a 3.29 GAA and .911 save percentage in 36 contests. He has completed a three-year, $5.4 million contract. It wouldn't be surprising to see the Maple Leafs trade him over the summer.

Jul 9 - 5:07 PM

James Reimer filed for salary arbitration on Wednesday.

Reimer was reduced to a backup role this past season after Jonathan Bernier came to Toronto from Los Angeles. Reimer reportedly asked for a trade over the weekend, but the Leafs won't give him away for nothing and the market is thin for goaltenders right now. "If there is a deal that makes sense for us, then we would look to do it," Leafs GM Dave Nonis said. He posted a 12-16-1 record with a .911 save percentage and 3.29 goals against average last season.
Jul 2 - 7:57 PM

James Reimer reportedly asked for a trade, with a deal being discussed with the Winnipeg Jets during the 2014 NHL Draft.

The RFA certainly would be a sensible fit in Winnipeg, where Ondrej Pavelec is far from a lock as the No. 1 guy. It might take some time to see if Reimer ends up with a job that's closer to a backup or 1B role, with Toronto not totally being out of the realm of possibility.
Jun 29 - 5:24 PM

Toronto GM Dave Nonis hasn't ruled out a return to the Leafs' crease for James Reimer next season.

Nonis hasn't had any contract talks regarding the pending restricted free agent and Reimer's name has been linked to trade speculation since the end of the regular season. The Leafs appear to be set on Jonathan Bernier as their starter, but keeping Reimer may not be a bad idea if another insurance policy doesn't present itself.
