Clay Wilson is still hoping to earn a permanent spot in the NHL, even though the odds are against him.

Wilson recently turned 29 and he's only played in 36 career NHL contests. The odds of him ever being anything more than an injury replacement at the NHL aren't great, but he hasn't given up. "I’m just going to keep on trying," Wilson said. "Hopefully, I’ll find a niche, an opportunity where I’m needed." The one thing Wilson has going for him is that his contract becomes one-way in 2012-13, which means he'll get paid $525,000 even if plays in the AHL.

Clay Wilson has been summoned by the Calgary Flames.

Wilson has 14 goals and 39 points in 60 games with the AHL Abbotsford Heat. He doesn't have any fantasy value in standard leagues.

The Flames sent Clay Wilson back to Abbotsford of the AHL.

It looks as if Scott Hannan and/or Brett Carson will be healthy enough to play Tuesday against San Jose.

Clay Wilson might be sent to the minors on Thursday.

Mark Giordano (leg) is very close to returning, but the Flames will need to free up a roster spot if they want to activate Giordano off of the injured reserve list. They'd probably do that by demoting Wilson, who has no points in two games with Calgary this season.

Clay Wilson spent Sunday's game in the press box.

With Derek Smith out due to a high ankle sprain, Wilson is expected to spend the next month or so serving as the team's seventh blueliner. That's not a job that will make him appealing to fantasy owners, but it is a great opportunity for Wilson, who will turn 29 in April. Wilson is known for his offensive abilities at the AHL level, but he isn't expected to get much playing time with Calgary.

Clay Wilson has been called up by Calgary Flames.

Wilson has six goals and 20 points in 32 AHL games this season. He had three goals and two assists in 15 contests in 2010-11 with the Florida Panthers.

The Calgary Flames have signed Clay Wilson to a two-year contract.

He spent the majority of the 2010-11 campaign in the AHL with Rochester, but appeared in 15 games with the Florida Panthers. "Clay Wilson is a responsible defenseman, yet a consistent point producing D'man at the AHL level," said Calgary GM Jay Feaster. "He, too, adds to the depth on our blueline and is a player who we are confident will compete for a spot in our top seven at camp. He significantly improves our depth on the back end and we are very happy to welcome him." We don't expect him to have any fantasy value next year.

Clay Wilson will play for the United States in the 2011 World Championships.

Wilson scored three goals and five points in 15 games this season. He's become a great offensive defenseman at the AHL level, but he turned 28 on April 5th and he's yet to establish himself as a regular with an NHL team.

The Panthers have returned defenseman Clay Wilson to Rochester of the AHL.

Wilson filled in admirably while the team was shorthanded, but will Alexander Sulzer expected back in the lineup for Florida`s next game on Tuesday he`s no longer needed.

Panthers` defenseman Clay Wilson has surprisingly scored in threee straight games.

Wilson was called up from Rochester of the AHL due to Alexander Sulzer`s injury last week and the offensive rearguard has scored in three straight. He`s not much more than a depth player for the franchise so we wouldn`t rush out to pick him up in your fantasy league.

Clay Wilson scored his second goal in as many games, but the Florida Panthers fell 2-1 to the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night.

The 27-year old defenseman has scored two goals in four games since coming up from the minors on Sunday, March 6th. With three career NHL goals, Wilson should not be on the fantasy radar at this point of the season.

He saw 13:31 of ice time in Florida's 3-2 overtime loss to Washington. Wilson has appeared in just three games for the Panthers this season and replaced injured defender Alexander Sulzer in the lineup.
