The Blues re-signed unrestricted free agent defenseman Chris Butler to a contract.

Terms were not disclosed. Butler was a frequent scratch in 2014-15 and will likely find himself in the pressbox quite often again this season. With nine points in 33 games Butler is not a fantasy asset.
Jul 1 - 12:56 PM

Defensemen Chris Butler and Robert Bortuzzo will watch from the press box yet again for Game 3 Monday night.

There was a slight chance head coach Ken Hitchcock was going to insert Bortuzzo for Barrett Jackman for Game 3, but he will ride the same lineup that led to a convincing Game 2 victory, which means both Bortuzzo and Butler will be scratched. Bortuzzo has just eight playoff games under his belt while Butler has appeared in only seven playoff games over his career.
Apr 20 - 6:21 PM

Chris Butler and Olli Jokinen are healthy scratches in Thursday's game against Chicago.

More importantly, Alex Steen (lower body) and Vladimir Tarasenko (lower body) will both be out of the lineup. It's entirely possible that these two teams face each other in the first round of the playoffs.
Apr 9 - 8:16 PM

Chris Butler and Chris Porter will be scratched against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night.

Unfortunately, neither player has any fantasy value. Butler, who played just three times in March, has eight points and 23 PIMs to his credit over 32 sporadic games this season. While Porter hasn't fared any better with a pair of points and 55 hits over 22 games.

Updating a previous item, Chris Butler will play in Saturday's game against Toronto.

The Blues were going to make Butler a healthy scratch but Jay Bouwmeester (flu) is unable to play in the game. Butler doesn't have any fantasy value.
Mar 7 - 6:50 PM

Chris Butler will tag in for Ian Cole on Thursday night against the Winnipeg Jets.

Barret Jackman will join Butler to create St. Louis' third defensive unit. Jackman actually has the better fantasy value with 43 PIMs 70 hits, and 92 blocks through 60 games this season.
Feb 26 - 7:41 PM

Chris Butler and Joakim Lindstrom will be scratched versus the Boston Bruins on Friday night.

Of the two, only Butler has managed to put up some stats in 28 games this season. He has six points, 15 PIMs, 23 hits, and 33 blocks from the blue line.
Feb 20 - 7:45 PM

Chris Butler will return to the Blues' lineup against the Lightning on Tuesday night.

He'll line up with Carl Gunnarsson to form their second defensive unit. Through 20 games he has four points, 13 PIMs, and 25 blocks. Previously to tonight, Butler hadn't played since Jan. 10th.
Feb 3 - 8:02 PM

Chris Butler will be a health scratch in St. Louis' afternoon tilt against the Washington Capitals.

Butler has two goals and two assists in 20 games this season. This will be his seventh consecutive game in the press box. Jori Lehtera and Patrik Berglung will both miss this game due to injury.
Feb 1 - 1:09 PM

Chris Butler will be a healthy scratch for his sixth straight game on Friday night against Carolina.

With just four points, 10 hits, 13 PIMs, and 25 blocks in 20 games this season, Butler has no fantasy value.
Jan 30 - 6:43 PM

Chris Bulter will be a healthy scratch on the blue line for the Blues Monday night.

The Blues will continue to go with Ian Cole as their sixth defenseman which means Butler will continue watch from the press box. Butler hasn't recorded a point since scoring a goal back on December 30th and isn't worth owning in any fantasy formats.
Jan 19 - 6:58 PM

Chris Butler will draw back into St. Louis' lineup on Tuesday against Los Angeles.

He was a healthy scratch on Saturday. He's been rotating with Ian Cole and Petteri Lindbohm while Carl Gunnarsson is sidelined with a concussion. Butler has one assist and 15 blocks in nine appearances with the Blues.

Chris Butler made his debut with the St. Louis Blues on Sunday.

In doing so, he became just the second St. Louis-born player to play for the Blues, with Cam Janssen being the first. Butler registered one shot, two penalty minutes and a block in 13:24 of ice time in a 4-2 win over Winnipeg.

The St. Louis Blues have recalled Chris Butler from the AHL.

Butler is joining the Blues because they have a roster opening after they traded Jordan Leopold away to Columbus. Butler played in all 82 games for Calgary last season, but he has yet to see any action in the NHL this season. He is nothing more than a depth defenseman right now.
