Nathan Gerbe is having the best offensive season of his NHL career.
Gerbe has 17 goals and 33 points this season and it's coming off a year in which the Buffalo Sabres decided to buy out the final season of his contract. Gerbe, the smallest player in the NHL at five feet five inches, inked a two-way deal with the Hurricanes and he has been a pleasant surprise. Nathan Gerbe has been moved up to the Carolina Hurricanes' top power-play unit.

Gerbe is set to play alongside Jiri Tlusty and Eric Staal with the man advantage. The Hurricanes are trying to spark their power play, which ranks in the bottom five of the NHL with a 14.1% conversion rate.

Nathan Gerbe scored once and added two assists Saturday as the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Ottawa Senators 6-3.

Gerbe got off to a nice start this season but Saturday's goal was only his second since December 29. Gerbe has 11 goals and 25 points in 51 games with 28 penalty minutes. He was a good off-season signing by the Hurricanes after Buffalo bought out the last year of his contract in the summer.

Nathan Gerbe pulled off a between the legs goal on Wednesday.

Gerbe said it was the first time he had attempted the maneuver in an NHL game, but he frequently tried it in practices. The marker was his first since Dec. 29 and his 10th of the 2013-14 campaign.

Nathan Gerbe scored a goal and add an assist for the Hurricanes in Friday's 4-3 loss to Pittsburgh.

The goal is the eighth of the campaign for Gerbe, who has fit in nicely as a role player with Carolina. Drayson Bowman and Andrej Sekera also tallied for the Canes in the loss.

Nathan Gerbe scored his sixth goal of the season on Sunday.

Gerbe had been a nice surprise for the Hurricanes in the early going but had not found the back of the net in the previous six games before his marker on Sunday. He has 11 points in 27 games this season so he is a fringe player in deep pools.

The Carolina Hurricanes have four shorthanded goals in their last four games.

The Hurricanes did not have one until this recent streak as Nathan Gerbe, Eric Staal, Andrej Sekera and Pat Dwyer have found the back of the net while on the man-disadvantage.

One way or another, Nathan Gerbe is making his presence felt for the Carolina Hurricanes.

Gerbe broke a five-game pointless streak with two assists in Carolina's 2-1 win against the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday. Even with that drought, he's been getting plenty of SOG and alson contributed 10 PIM when he wasn't scoring. It's hard not to like what the undersized forward is doing right now.

The Carolina Hurricanes are in a scoring funk and left winger Nathan Gerbe has only one goal in his past 12 games.

"We’ve got to just keep playing our game, shooting the puck. Just stick with it," Gerbe said. He isn't alone. His teammates are slumping, too. Eric Staal has gone the past eight games without a goal and Jiri Tlusty the past seven. Tuomo Ruutu now has played 11 games without scoring. Alexander Semin has one goal in the past nine games. "We’re going to keep pushing and some guys are going to break out of it," Canes coach Kirk Muller said. The Canes are 28th in the NHL in goals per game at 1.88. Carolina (6-7-3) has scored only eight times in the past seven games.

Nathan Gerbe scored the only goal for Carolina in a 3-1 loss to Pittsburgh Monday night.

Gerbe has been a pleasant surprise for the Hurricanes this season with four goals and three assists in 11 contests. Alexander Semin and Elias LIndholm drew assists on Gerbe's marker.

Nathan Gerbe was placed on the top line in practice Sunday.

Gerbe was on the left wing with Eric Staal and Alexander Semin while Elias Lindholm was placed on Jordan Staal's right side. The move should increase the fantasy value of both Gerbe and Lindholm if they remain there. Gerbe has three goals and six points in the early going.

Nathan Gerbe (lower body) is healthy enough to play on Thursday.

Gerbe took part in Wednesday's practice after staying off the ice on Monday and Tuesday. He has three goals and six points in nine games this season.

Nathan Gerbe has been dealing with a lower-body injury.

Gerbe wasn't on the ice Monday or Tuesday and it was initially thought that was because he absorbed a high hit during Saturday's contest. It looks like that's not the case, but either way he's expected to be back on the ice Wednesday.

Nathan Gerbe missed Monday's skate after absorbing a high hit on Saturday.

Gerbe stayed in that game and is still expected to be on the ice Tuesday, but we're going to err on the side of caution and list him as day-to-day. He has three goals and six points in nine games in 2013-14.
