Nathan Gerbe scored a goal in Sunday's 2-1 overtime loss to Boston.

Gerbe's second period goal tied the game at one but rookie David Pastrnak eventually scored the game-winning goal in overtime. Chris Terry and Danny Biego picked up the assists on Gerbe's goal. The 27-year-old now has eight goals and 25 points in 71 games this season. Gerbe is a useful NHL player but his fantasy upside is extremely limited.

Nathan Gerbe is the Carolina Hurricanes nominee for the Bill Masterton Trophy.

The Masterton is given to the NHL player who best exemplifies perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey. The diminutive forward has overcome severe back problems to play the last two seasons with the Hurricanes after the Sabres bought out his contract. He has seven goals and 24 points this season and played last game on the first unit with Eric and Jordan Staal.

Gerbe ended his seven-game point drought. He has six goals and 20 points in 51 contests. He's more-or-less met expectations so far this season.
Feb 17 - 10:42 AM

Nathan Gerbe doesn't have a goal in his last 18 games.

Gerbe is far from the only Hurricanes' forward that's slumping, but that's not a consolation from a fantasy perspective. With three goals and 13 points in 36 contests in 2014-15, you would need to be in a fairly deep league to justify owning him.

Nathan Gerbe recorded two assists to help Carolina earn a 4-1 win against Toronto on Thursday.

Gerbe hadn't recorded a point since Nov. 29. He now has three goals and 12 points in 27 games in 2014-15.

Nathan Gerbe scored a power play goal on Friday in the 'Canes 5-3 loss to the New York Islanders.

Gerbe's goal 1:25 into the third period, put the Hurricanes on the board as they trailed 3-1 but they could not come back all the way. Gerbe signed a two-year deal in the off-season after a 16 goal, 31 point effort last season. Look for 30-35 points this year.

Nathan Gerbe went into the 2013-14 campaign figuring it might be his last chance to earn a regular spot in the NHL.

Gerbe signed a two-way contract with Carolina after being bought out by Buffalo and made the most of the opportunity, scoring 16 goals and 31 points in 81 contests. The Hurricanes rewarded him over the summer with a two-year, $3.5 million deal. That gives him a bit more security, but he still needs to prove himself. He's certainly capable of living up to that contract, but his fantasy value in standard leagues will be limited.

Nathan Gerbe is having the best offensive season of his NHL career.

Gerbe has 16 goals and 31 points this season and it's coming off a year in which the Buffalo Sabres decided to buy out the final season of his contract. Gerbe, the smallest player in the NHL at five feet five inches, inked a two-way deal with the Hurricanes and he has been a pleasant surprise. He will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season, but it's likely that he's earned himself another contract with the Hurricanes.
