Peter Regin hopes to play a bigger role in 2014-15 than he had after being acquired by Chicago in February.
Regin signed a one-year, $650,000 contract with the Blackhawks. "It's up to me that prove that I belong in the lineup every night," Regin said. "That's kind of all I've been asking is to get a shot and I think with a full season it's going to benefit my chances." He had four goals and 11 points in 61 games last season. Jul 2 - 8:58 AM

The Chicago Blackhawks have re-signed Peter Regin to a one-year/$650,000 contract.

Regin was acquired from the Islanders in February and was mostly a depth player, especially during the playoffs. He played 61 regular season games in the NHL last season, scoring four and adding seven assists. He could have a bigger role in 2014-15 as he has a very friendly salary cap hit and the Blackhawks could be up against the cap.
Jul 1 - 2:36 PM

Peter Regin isn't sure if he factors into the Blackhawks' future plans.

Chicago acquired Regin from the Ottawa Senators, but didn't use him much during the playoffs. He's scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. For what it's worth, Regin would like to re-sign with Chicago.

Peter Regin could get back into Chicago's lineup for Game 6.

It's being speculated that the Blackhawks will scratch Kris Versteeg, so Regin or Jeremy Morin may get the nod for Friday's game instead. Regin has appeared in five games this postseason, but he hasn't dressed since Game 4 against Los Angeles.
May 29 - 4:27 PM

The Blackhawks will likely scratch Peter Regin for Game 3 Saturday night against the Kings to create an active roster spot for Andrew Shaw.

Shaw practiced with Kris Versteeg and Brandon Saad in practice on Friday, while Regin did not scrimmage on any of the top four lines. The well-travelled Regin played in the Hawks' last four playoff games after being a healthy scratch for Chicago's first 10 post-season matches. As he has yet to register a point, Regin's stint in the press box is not really big news.
May 24 - 9:12 AM

After starting the season with the New York Islanders, Peter Regin has a chance to win the Stanley Cup with Chicago.

The Blackhawks acquired him to bolster their team's depth and Peter Regin has gotten some playing time with Andrew Shaw sidelined. "I knew it was going to be tough to crack the lineup," Regin said. "I knew I wasn't coming here to be a first line center and that I would have to earn my ice time. It's exciting to be part of it, even when you're not playing. Even practice is fun. The expectation is to win. It's up to me to play well to stay in and I think it has gone well the last three games." He's scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
May 21 - 11:22 AM

Peter Regin skated on the fourth line in Game 5 and coach Joel Quenneville like what he saw.

He joined Kris Versteeg and Brandon Saad on the new-look combination. "He [Regin] came in and gave us good presence. Speed in the middle," Quenneville said. "Steeger, too. That line was effective for us — gave us more balance, a four-line rotation. It was a good response [from Regin] in the first playoff game for him. We liked what we saw." It was Regin's first playoff in four years and his first appearance in Chicago's lineup since April 12th.
May 12 - 7:33 AM

After waiting patiently through nearly two full rounds of action, it appears as if the Chicago Blackhawks will insert Peter Regin into the lineup for Game 5 against the Minnesota Wild.

An injury to Andrew Shaw and suspension for Brandon Bollig opens the door for Regin, who hasn't played since an April 12 regular season game and hasn't scored a goal since March 14. He's unlikely to make a huge long-term impact, yet sometimes players can take advantage of fresher legs and a renewed opportunity in their first games back.
May 11 - 2:02 PM

Peter Regin may center Chicago's third line when he returns to the lineup on Tuesday night.

It's possible that Andrew Shaw will be moved to the wing to necessitate the change. Regin was a healthy scratch for Saturday's Stadium Series tilt versus Pittsburgh. He has one goal in two games with the Blackhawks since he was acquired from the New York Islanders.
Mar 3 - 1:01 PM

Peter Regin was the lone goal scorer for Chicago in a 2-1 loss to the New York Rangers on Thursday night.

Regin's goal came with just 12 seconds remaining in the third period and while it had no impact on the final result, it was enough to break Cameron Talbot's shutout bid. Ben Smith and Brent Seabrook picked up assists on the goal.
Feb 27 - 10:23 PM

Peter Regin skated with Patrick Kane during Wednesday's practice.

Regin played with Kris Versteeg and Brandon Saad in his Chicago debut prior to the Olympic break because Kane was absent to attend his grandfather's funeral. "He seems very skilled just with little plays, how to draw defensemen's sticks in and get the puck to you with a little bit more time and space," Kane said. If the pairing works out then Regin could get a significant fantasy value boost.
Feb 27 - 12:28 PM

Peter Regin, who was acquired Thursday night from the Islanders, centered the Blackhawks' second line between Brandon Saad and Kris Versteeg.

Of course the Hawks were short Patrick Kane, who left the team to attend his grandfather's funeral. It remains to be seen if Regin can hold on to this job, but if he does, he will certainly be worth keeping an eye on.

Feb 8 - 12:28 PM

Peter Regin and Pierre-Marc Bouchard were acquired by Chicago from the New York Islanders on Thursday night for a fourth-round draft pick in 2014.

In 44 games with the Islanders this season, Regin has produced two goals and seven points. There's a chance that he could see second-line action with Chicago at some point because the Blackhawks still need someone to fill that slot. However, his acquisition is mainly to add more depth for the remainder of the season.
Feb 7 - 8:39 AM

Peter Regin was in the New York Islanders lineup Saturday after being a healthy scratch in three of the previous four games.

Regin has only a goal and four points in 30 games and has not picked up a point since October 26. If he is still in your fantasy lineup, you would probably be better off trying another fantasy sport.

Peter Regin has not had a point in his last 16 games.

The Islanders have a lot of players slumping but no one as much as Regin. He has a goal and four points this season and obviously should not be on your fantasy team, nevermind being in your lineup.
