Zach Bogosian was scratched in Saturday's game because of a nagging lower-body injury.

Bogosian tweaked the injury and the Sabres' coaching staff decided it was better to play it safe in his case. He was acquired in the huge trade that saw Buffalo get Evander Kane from Winnipeg. Bogosian isn't a big point producer but he has played relatively well since joining he Sabres. He has four assists in his last seven contests and a surprising plus-three rating on a bad Buffalo team. He should be considered day-to-day right now.

Zach Bogosian logged 30:53 of ice time in Buffalo's 4-3 shootout loss to Toronto on Wednesday night.

He was credited with six hits, four shots, two penalty minutes and a plus-1 rating in the match. Bogosian has been soaking up big minutes for the Sabres and he has chipped in four assists, along with 30 penalty minutes, in 12 games.

Bogosian suffered a bruised foot when he blocked an Alex Ovechkn shot on Saturday night but will not miss any time due to the injury as he will suit up Wednesday night in Toronto. The former third overall pick in 2008 has four assists in 11 games since being traded to Buffalo this season and has three goals and 17 points in 52 games overall, including a total of 68 penalty minutes.

Bogosian was hurt when he blocked an Alex Ovechkin shot on Saturday. He's still questionable for Wednesday's game, but obviously the fact that he's already rejoined his teammates on the ice is a very good sign.

Zach Bogosian didn't take part in Monday's practice after he took an Alex Ovechkin shot to his foot on Saturday.

It occurred late in the second period and he saw just two shifts early in the third. Coach Ted Nolan is optimistic that Bogosian will be ready to go on Wednesday against Toronto even though the 24-year-old blueliner was seen in a walking boot after the match. We'll mark him as day-to-day for now.

Zach Bogosian said he is trying to be more of a leader in the Sabres' locker room.

"I just try to lead by example, try to play hard every night, try to do the right things," Bogosian said. "There’s plenty of room to grow in my game and everyone’s game, really. These last 17, 18 games, we’ve got to play for something. I know playoffs are out of the picture, but I firmly believe this core group of people – we have good veteran guys, good young guys – if we’re going to play for something, we’ve got to push for the future. We have to find a way to win games."
