Michael Del Zotto wants to put his past injury woes behind him.
"A big thing I've been working on, more rest and treatment this off-season, not trying to push myself too much so I can last a little bit longer in the season," said Del Zotto. He signed a two-year contract with Vancouver in the summer and should fit into the team's top-four defense group. Del Zotto will probably get a look on the Canucks' power play as well. Michael Del Zotto knows that he might be dealt before the deadline.

"It happens every year," Del Zotto said. "It’s not like it’s the first time. I’ve been traded before. It is what it is. It’s a business. You realize that pretty early in your career. I understand where I’m at as far as my contract, being a UFA this summer. Same thing with taking each game one day at a time. You take each day one day at a time. Go home, make dinner, get ready for tomorrow and whatever happens, happens." Del Zotto has been traded before with his previous move coming in 2014 when the Rangers shipped him to Nashville, but that was a January move rather than a deadline trade. Philadelphia might still keep Del Zotto, especially seeing as the squad isn't out of the playoff race yet.
Feb 22 - 5:13 AM

The Philadelphia Flyers might end up trading Michael Del Zotto prior to the deadline.

Del Zotto is in the final season of a two-year, $7.75 million deal and can become an unrestricted free agent this summer. The offensive defenseman would likely bring a decent return for the Flyers as a rental, but the question is if the Flyers see themselves as sellers. They're only three points back in the Wild Card race, but given the tight competition for that spot, Philadelphia's chances of making the playoffs aren't great.

"It’s frustrating with it being a contract year," Del Zotto said. "Injuries are going to happen. It is what it is." In 30 games for the Flyers he's provided four goals and 10 points along with 59 blocks and 110 hits. He's targeting Philadelphia's game in Calgary on Wednesday, Feb. 15th as his potential return date.

See how I feel tonight and tomorrow morning." The Flyers have won their last three games, so coach Dave Hakstol might decline to change their lineup on Tuesday.
