Michael Del Zotto scored his 10th goal of the season on Sunday.
It was a power play marker and the goal gave the defenseman six points in his last five games as well as 22 in his last 28. He now has 32 points this season. Del Zotto should be in line for a nice pay raise as he inked a one-year $1.3 million deal as a UFA in the off-season. Apr 6 - 8:12 AM

Left for dead as a guy who barely got a contract for 2014-15, Michael Del Zotto continues to produce nice offense for the Philadelphia Flyers.

By grabbing two assists on Saturday, "MDZ" now has 31 points, crossing the 30 mark for the third time in his career. Say what you will about his defensive skills, it's hard to imagine him being ignored by GMs again next summer.

Michael Del Zotto wants to return to the Flyers next season.

The defenseman inked a one-year deal as an unrestricted free agent in the off-season and is a restricted free agent this season. "I don't know what's going to happen," Del Zotto said. "I love it here. I love the group of guys here, I strongly believe in this room. It's kind of a weird year, an inconsistent year. I feel we have a team that could do some damage if we stayed consistent. I love everything about it here. It's an unbelievable sports city. I love the fans. It's the closest group of guys I've ever played with." He has nine goals and 29 points in 59 games this season.
Apr 4 - 9:09 AM

Michael Del Zotto played 30:18 in Saturday's 3-2 shootout loss to San Jose.

The Flyers were in big trouble as Mark Streit and Carlo Colaiacovo were out with the flu and Luke Schenn and Andrew MacDonald were out with injuries so Del Zotto picked up a lot of the slack. Rookie Brandon Manning played 25:07 while the Flyers called up a couple of rookies in Mark Alt and Oliver Lauridsen to fill out the blueline.

Michael Del Zotto (upper body) will rejoin the Flyers' lineup on Thursday.

Philadelphia defenseman Michael Del Zotto will be sidelined from 7 to 10 days because of an upper-body injury, the Flyers said Sunday.

Brandon Manning, recalled by the Flyers on Saturday, will replace Del Zotto in the lineup. Manning is working alongside Andrew MacDonald Sunday in the Flyers' game against the New Jersey Devils. Del Zotto, 24, had seven goals and 16 points in his past 21 games and nine goals and 26 points in 54 games overall this season.
Mar 8 - 7:28 PM

Michael Del Zotto hurt his foot in the first period Saturday when he blocked a shot.

Del Zotto sat out the remainder of the first period but returned for the start of the second and managed to play 22:31 in the overtime loss to Boston. Del Zotto has been the Flyers top offensive defenseman of late with seven goals and 16 points in 21 games while Mark Streit has four goals and 12 points in the same time frame. If Del Zotto is unable to go on Sunday, you now know why as he wasn't skating well during the remainder of the game.
Mar 8 - 9:28 AM

Michael Del Zotto scored his ninth of goal of the year, sparking the Flyers' late come-from-behind 3-1 win over the Blues on Thursday night.

After Matt Read dug the puck out of the left corner, he fed Del Zotto a pass with tons of time and space to work with. A look, a wind-up, and a laser through a maze of bodies, Del Zotto had tied the game at one midway into the third period. The goal was Del Zotto's second in three games, and his third point in the last four. Giving him 26 for the season.
Mar 5 - 10:21 PM

Michael Del Zotto has been very impressive of late and should be in line for a nice salary increase.

Del Zotto is an RFA at the end of the season after he signed a one-year/$1.3 million contract with the Flyers in the off-season. He has eight goals and 25 points this season including three goals and seven points in his last eight games. Not only that, but coach Craig Berube is using him in all kinds of situations. "He is playing against top lines, defending well and that’s the biggest thing for me," Berube said. "You know, he’s defending well and then he’s jumping in the play when he can and making good plays with the puck."

Del Zotto kept his team’s faint playoff hopes alive, while knocking off the team that drafted and then traded him away. He has eight goals and 25 points this season, with four points over his past five games. Matt Read, Michael Raffl and Wayne Simmonds (empty netter) got the other goals. Sean Couturier had two helpers.
Feb 28 - 11:03 PM

With the way Michael Del Zotto has played lately, the Philadelphia Flyers are expected to re-sign him.

Del Zotto has 10 points in his last 13 games, giving him seven goals and 16 assists in 48 contests this season. "I think it is just a matter of playing and being able to go out there and play 20-plus minutes and feeling comfortable," Del Zotto said. "Not over thinking and playing on instinct, believing in myself and that’s about it." He's averaging 21:03 minutes of ice time per contest. He'll only be restricted free agent this summer, so Philadelphia doesn't have to rush to get him locked up.
