Michael Del Zotto scored his first playoff goal of this season Monday.

It was a big one, too, as it gave the Rangers a commanding 3-0 lead with just over 14 minutes left in the second period. "We’ve believed in our club all year," Del Zotto said. "It wasn’t the smoothest year for us, but we’ve had a lot of fun working hard for each other and we’ve never given up. With the lockout, we knew from day one it was going to be a different year."

Michael Del Zotto has been dropped to New York's second power-play unit due to the emergence of John Moore.

"It's healthy competition," Del Zotto said. "He's played well since he's come here. I thought the power play was good [Monday]. If you have two good units, it definitely helps spreading out the minutes." The two of them played on the team's third defense pairing in Game 3 Monday night.

The NHL will not conduct a hearing regarding Michael Del Zotto's elbow to the head of the Penguins' James Neal.

The incident took place in Friday night's game but was not deemed worthy of NHL review. As a result, Del Zotto will be in the lineup against the Hurricanes Saturday night.
Apr 6 - 11:11 AM

Michael Del Zotto notched a shorthanded goal and earned an assist to help lead the Rangers to a 3-2 win over New Jersey Tuesday.

His last goal came all the way back on Jan. 29 versus Philadelphia. Del Zotto's marker snapped a 20-game goal drought and it opened the scoring in the first period. He also picked up an assist on Rick Nash's game-winning goal in the second. Carl Hagelin had the team's other goal in the win.

Michael Del Zotto (lower body) will be back in New York's lineup on Thursday night.

He sat the past two games with a lower-body injury, but will return to the fold along with Rick Nash and Ryan McDonagh. Del Zotto has seven points and a plus-4 rating in 16 games this season.

Michael Del Zotto (lower body) skated Wednesday but isn't sure if he'll be available for Thursday night's clash with Tampa Bay.

He said he was making progress from his lower-body injury though. Del Zotto also commented that he thought he would be ready to play Tuesday, but he wasn't able to play against Winnipeg.
Feb 27 - 2:44 PM

Michael Del Zotto (lower body), Rick Nash (undisclosed) and Ryan McDonagh (undisclosed) won't play Tuesday night against the Winnipeg Jets.

The Rangers also announced that Arron Asham (back) will not dress either. Out of the four, only Del Zotto was an option to play Tuesday. Nash skated this morning but appears a few days out, while McDonagh didn't even participate in the morning skate.
Feb 26 - 5:19 PM

Michael Del Zotto (lower body) and Daniel Girardi (ankle) both participated in Tuesday's morning skate.

It's unclear whether either will play Tuesday night against Winnipeg, although if we had to bet we'd put Girardi as the more likely option. Check back closer to game time for an update.
Feb 26 - 4:20 PM

Michael Del Zotto practiced on Monday after missing Saturday's game with a lower-body injury.

The ailment, which is believed to be a hip issue, doesn't look like it will keep him out of Tuesday's match versus Winnipeg. However, we'll keep him on the sidelines for now until more information comes out of the team's morning skate.
Feb 26 - 9:04 AM

Michael Del Zotto will likely not play Saturday against the Canadiens Saturday due to a hip injury.

He injured his hip and was limping around Thursday night after the game against the Senators. This is the same hip Del Zotto injured last season that caused him to miss four games. He also left Saturday morning's optional skate early. If you have a reasonable replacement for Del Zotto, we would insert him into the lineup in the Ranger rearguard's place.
Feb 23 - 11:55 AM

Michael Del Zotto suffered what appeared to be a hip injury against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday.

Del Zotto went to the ice in pain after taking a hard hip check from Marc Methot about halfway through the third period. He had a noticeable limp after the game, but the Rangers had no official word on his injury. We'll let you know as soon as we hear more. The Rangers play in Montreal on Saturday.

Michael Del Zotto scored a goal and added an assist for the Rangers in a 2-1 win over Philadelphia Tuesday.

The blueliner opened the scoring in the first period with his first of the campaign and later picked up an assist on Ryan Callahan's power play marker in the second frame. In other news, Callahan left the game in the third period with an undisclosed injury and did not return.

Michael Del Zotto's new contract with the Rangers is reportedly a two-year/$5.1 million deal.

Del Zotto will earn $2.55 million in each of the next two seasons. He was a restricted free agent going into the lockout, but signing this deal prevented him from missing the start of training camp.
Jan 13 - 12:25 PM

According to TSN's Bob McKenzie, the Rangers and RFA Michael Del Zotto have reached a contract agreement.

This is somewhat surprising after it was reported yesterday that the two sides may not reach a deal in time for the blue liner to begin training camp with the Blueshirts. Terms of the deal are not yet available, but we believe McKenzie, who is one of the most trusted reporters in the game.
