Michael Del Zotto scored a goal in Friday's 4-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.
Del Zotto got the Canucks on the board at the 3:30 mark of the second period. The goal cut Vancouver's deficit to 3-1 at the time, but that's as close as they'd come to tying the game. He finished the night with a plus-1 rating, two penalty minutes, three shots on goal and six hits in 17:40 of ice time. The 27-year-old four goals, 17 points and a minus-17 rating in 55 games this season. Alex Biega and Sven Baertschi picked up the assists on the Canucks' only goal. Feb 9 - 11:51 PM

Michael Del Zotto posted an even-strength goal with a plus-2 rating, three blocked shots and three hits in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win against the Avalanche.

Del Zotto used to be a solid offensive defenseman early in his career, seeing plenty of time on the power play in stops with the Rangers and the Flyers. However, he has always been a defensive liability and he just hasn't been logging the numbers anymore. He hasn't struck on the power play since the 2014-15 season, and he has just seven assists on the man advantage over the past three years. Del Zotto is only worth a look in the deepest of fantasy leagues at this point and those formats rewarding blocked shots (71) and hits (130).

Michael Del Zotto considers the Canucks' descent to be one of the toughest stretches of his career.

For a time it looked like Vancouver would have a respectable season. The Canucks were 14-10-4 through Dec. 5, but have gone 2-11-2 since that date. "We can play flipping sandals and I would want to win," Del Zotto said. "It’s the competitive nature you have. It’s frustrating. It’s not easy on you when you lose consecutively and go on a stretch like this. That’s why it’s been the toughest of my career." The Canucks never had a great chance of making the playoffs this season, but whatever hope there was is basically gone now. This was a rebuilding season, so while losing is tough on the players, it can't come as a major surprise. Vancouver will likely get a good draft pick to complement its emerging core that includes rookie Brock Boeser, who has put up Calder Trophy-worthy numbers so far.
Jan 12 - 7:26 AM

Michael Del Zotto recorded two assists in the Canucks' 5-2 win over Pittsburgh Wednesday night.

Del Zotto hadn't recorded a point in his prior six contests. He now has a goal and nine points in 22 games in 2017-18. He's been getting plenty of playing time with Vancouver, including some power-play minutes, so it wouldn't be shocking to see him end up with around 30 points.

Michael Del Zotto registered an assist in a 5-3 win over Calgary Tuesday night.

Del Zotto also had a point on Monday as he put some distance between himself and his previous six-game scoring drought. He has a goal and seven points in 15 contests this season.

Michael Del Zotto scored his first goal of the season in Monday's game against the Red Wings while also blocking two shots and delivering a pair of hits.

Del Zotto struck midway through the final period with a game-tying goal, and the contest appeared destined for overtime until Tomas Tatar snuck one by Jacob Markstrom for the game-winning tally with 1:14 to go. His last marker came April 8, or last season, as a member of the Philadelphia Flyers. He isn't much of an offensive force for fantasy owners, but he has posted 28 hits and 30 blocked shots through 14 contests.

Michael Del Zotto continues to get plenty of ice time on the Canucks' number one power-play unit.

Alex Edler started the season as the quarterback on the top unit, but he is now injured. Other candidates to assume that role were Troy Stecher (also injured) and Ben Hutton, but Travis Green has opted to use Del Zotto. Keep this in mind if you are looking to pick up a useful depth defenseman.

Michael Del Zotto was scoreless with a minus-1 rating in Monday's 2-1 overtime setback against Dallas, but he did post three blocked shots and a hit.

Del Zotto has managed just five assists with a minus-4 rating at the offensive end, but he helps fantasy owners and DFS players with 18 hits and 27 blocked shots through 11 outings.

Michael Del Zotto wants to put his past injury woes behind him.

"A big thing I've been working on, more rest and treatment this off-season, not trying to push myself too much so I can last a little bit longer in the season," said Del Zotto. He signed a two-year contract with Vancouver in the summer and should fit into the team's top-four defense group. Del Zotto will probably get a look on the Canucks' power play as well.

Michael Del Zotto has signed a two-year contract with Vancouver.

Del Zotto will get $3 million per season. The offensively talented defenseman had only 18 points in 51 games with Philadelphia but look for Del Zotto to get more power play time with the offensively-challenged Canucks.

Michael Del Zotto scored sixth goal of the season during Saturday's 4-2 win over Columbus.

That gives Del Zotto 18 points in 50 games with the Flyers this season.

Michael Del Zotto will be scratched against the Wild on Thursday.

Through 43 games this season Del Zotto has posted five goals and 15 points along with 72 blocks and 144 hits.

Michael Del Zotto knows that he might be dealt before the deadline.

"It happens every year," Del Zotto said. "It’s not like it’s the first time. I’ve been traded before. It is what it is. It’s a business. You realize that pretty early in your career. I understand where I’m at as far as my contract, being a UFA this summer. Same thing with taking each game one day at a time. You take each day one day at a time. Go home, make dinner, get ready for tomorrow and whatever happens, happens." Del Zotto has been traded before with his previous move coming in 2014 when the Rangers shipped him to Nashville, but that was a January move rather than a deadline trade. Philadelphia might still keep Del Zotto, especially seeing as the squad isn't out of the playoff race yet.

The Philadelphia Flyers might end up trading Michael Del Zotto prior to the deadline.

Del Zotto is in the final season of a two-year, $7.75 million deal and can become an unrestricted free agent this summer. The offensive defenseman would likely bring a decent return for the Flyers as a rental, but the question is if the Flyers see themselves as sellers. They're only three points back in the Wild Card race, but given the tight competition for that spot, Philadelphia's chances of making the playoffs aren't great.

Michael Del Zotto (ankle) returned to action on Thursday February 16.

It was Del Zotto's first game since Jan. 21. He had a minus-two rating in 13:03 minutes of ice time.
