Josi has really developed into one of the great young blueliners in the game. His offensive game has grown this season, with eight goals and 25 points. Even more eye-popping is the game-high 30:32 he logged, surpassing Shea Weber by almost four minutes. Mike Fisher and Paul Gaustad picked up the other goals.

Jan 6 - 12:19 PM

Defenseman Roman Josi is turning into an important two-way player for the Nashville Predators.

On Saturday, in a win against San Jose, Josi scored a power-play goal near the end of the second period — his second score of the year. He also appeared to block a San Jose opportunity with less than 30 seconds left that was headed into the Predators net. If San Jose had scored, the game would have been tied. "It was just a scramble in front of the net," Josi said of his big block. "(Goaltender Carter) Hutton was kind of down, and I saw (Joe) Pavelski getting the puck. I knew he was going to try to shoot it high, so I just tried to stay in the net and was lucky it hit me."

Roman Josi was reunited with Shea Weber on Tuesday night.

"We played together all year basically, so it wasn't a problem for us. We know each other pretty well," Josi said. "If you play with Webs, it's always good for a defenseman. He makes all the right plays and makes it easy for you, and that helps." Josi had been playing with Kevin Klein since returning from a concussion on Oct. 31. He had a minus-1 rating and three shots in 26:05 of ice time.

Roman Josi will return Thursday night after being sidelined since Oct. 4 due to a concussion.

He will be paired with Kevin Klein in the contest. "Both of them understand what they both do," coach Barry Trotz said. "Josi looks like he's excited to be back in the lineup, and that's good for us. We need our pairings to be strong and I think it's pretty diverse now."
