If you are looking for an under-the-radar bounce-back fantasy pick, consider the Sabres' Tyler Myers.
Myers' play has slipped the past three seasons after a very strong rookie campaign in 2009-10 in which he won the Calder Trophy as the league's top first-year player. However, there are a number of reasons to think Myers can bounce back. First, he played much better under Ted Nolan, who took over the team part-way through last season than he did under Lindy Ruff the past few years. Second, he wil be paired with his friend and fellow Kelowna BC native, Josh Gorges. A return to the 40-point level is certainly not out of the question for Myers in 2014-15. Sep 20 - 10:02 AM

Tyler Myers isn't concerned with trade rumors.

"My focus throughout the entire summer was to get better for the Buffalo Sabres," he said. "If a moment ever comes that I hear confirmation I'm not a Buffalo Sabre, then the mindset will change. But as of right now, I'm a Sabre and I want to be a Sabre." He expects off-season additions Josh Gorges and Andrej Meszaros to help Buffalo's young defense corps and serve as leaders for the club.
Sep 15 - 10:10 AM

Tyler Myers is happy with the players Buffalo brought in over the summer.

The Sabres added 35-year-old Brian Gionta and 30-year-old Josh Gorges among others. "The type of guys we got, it's very exciting for us," Myers said. "It was a busy summer for us. Not only the type of players they are, but the veteran presence they bring to the room, I think it’s something we needed." Players like Gionta should help guide the Sabres in their rebuilding efforts, but Buffalo is still likely to miss the playoffs by a significant margin.
Sep 12 - 12:58 PM

There's been speculation as to whether or not the Red Wings will attempt to acquire Tyler Myers.

Detroit wasn't able to upgrade its defense on the free agent market and although Myers hasn't lived up to expectations since winning the Calder Trophy, he's still a solid defenseman with plenty of upside. Buffalo might not be inclined to trade Myers though, especially seeing as freeing up cap space is a non-factor for them at this time.
Jul 6 - 9:27 AM

The Vancouver Canucks might pursue Tyler Myers.

They certainly have the cap space to get him after trading Jason Garrison and Ryan Kesler. Myers is coming off of a decent season, but the 24-year-old has performed well below expectations since winning the Calder Trophy in 2009-10. A change of scenery might benefit him, but the Sabres aren't likely to let him go unless they get a very good offer.
Jun 27 - 3:58 PM

Tyler Myers missed Wednesday's practice because he was feeling under the weather.

However, he's expected to play in the quarterfinals of the 2014 World Hockey Championship on Thursday. Myers has contributed two assists in seven games at the tournament thus far.
May 22 - 9:11 AM

Tyler Myers is one of four Buffalo Sabres who will participate in the World Hockey Championships scheduled to start on May 9th in Belarus.

Myers, along with Cody Hodgson will play for Canada, while Jake McCabe will play for the U.S. Jhonas Enroth is hoping to be healthy enough to play for Sweden. A fifth Sabre, goalie Michal Neuvirth, could suit up for the Czech Republic if he recovers from a hip injury in sufficient time.

Apr 18 - 9:32 AM

Tyler Myers suffered two broken ribs back on Mar. 25 when he slid hard into a goalpost in a game against Montreal.

He sat out the last 10 games of the season due to the ailment. The 24-year-old defender feels he needs to step up after another disappointing season for himself and for the Sabres. "Guys around my age in the room definitely have to step up and be the core of this team," Myers said. "It's a young team and we can definitely take steps this summer and become leaders."
Apr 14 - 3:15 PM

He hasn't played since Mar. 25 against Montreal because of a middle-body injury. Myers struggled again in 2013-14 with 22 points and a minus-26 rating in 62 contests.
