Alex Pietrangelo moved to the left side on Thursday versus Los Angeles.
He was paired with Colton Parayko and Jay Bouwmeester skated alongside Kevin Shattenkirk. "Our feeling is right now that we need to be better transition," coach Ken Hitchcock said. "These are our four best transition defensemen, playing them all together. I'm not sure whether this is going to be the defined combination as we work through the games. Pietrangelo’s assists were to Alexander Steen at the 5:16 minute mark and Dmitrij Jaskin’s at 7:26. This lifts him to nine assists for the season and 14 points—decent marks for a defenseman. Pietrangelo has scored points in four of his last five games.

Alex Pietrangelo suffered an injury scare in Tuesday's game against the Rangers, but he was able to return to the contest.

He his right leg tangled up with the left leg of the Rangers forward J.T. Miller late in the first period. Pietranglo left the ice gingerly, but he was ready to go for the start of the second frame. Still, he finished with a season-low 21:11 of ice time.

Alex Pietrangelo was humbled to be named captain of the St. Louis Blues.

The Blues made the announcement official during a news conference on Thursday. "Humbling is a good word," Pietrangelo said. "I’m excited, I’m nervous, I think it’s every emotion you can come up with. This group of guys who have worn the ‘C’ have carried themselves in a way that I want to carry myself. They still to this day carry themselves in a great way." He replaces David Backes, who went to Boston in free agency.
