Yann Sauve has signed with the Vancouver Canucks.

Vancouver did not release the terms of the deal. Sauve was selected by the Canucks in the second round of the 2008 entry draft. Sauve's a big blueliner with a significant amount of offensive potential, but he should still be looked at as a long-term project. He'll probably spend most of the 2010-11 season in the AHL.

Yann Sauve will get a boost in his final year of junior hockey.

Sauve, the Canucks second round pick in 2008, had a tough time under former coach Jacques Beaulieu. His defensive style of play really hindered the progress of Sauve. "Last season we weren't allowed to bring the puck into the opposition zone, we always had to stay back," the defenseman said. This season the St. John's coach is former NHLer Gerard Gallant and his style of play is more towards offense. "This year we'll be allowed to join the rush and help the forwards. That's something I can do," Sauve said. Sauve has offensive potential but is still more than a few years away from an NHL job.
