Luca Sbisa (hand) had five hits in his return to the Canucks' lineup on Sunday.

Sbisa also logged 19:33 minutes of ice time to help Vancouver earn a 2-1 shootout victory over the New York Islanders. It was his first game since Dec. 1. "That was definitely a battle," said Sbisa. "But it’s good to have one like this the first game back and have everything you could ask for. The shots were lopsided (48-26) but we battled and I felt better as the game wore on. The first two (periods), I was gassed. A lot of it had to do with a little anxiety in the first game back. You waste a lot of energy because you’re so excited."

Confirming an earlier report, Luca Sbisa will indeed return to Vancouver's blue line on Sunday against the Islanders.

Sbisa has missed the last 19 games with a hand injury, and will be a happy addition to the back end of their D-corps. Through 18 games this season, he's posted four points, 17 PIMs, 28 hits, and 31 hits.
Jan 17 - 3:03 PM

Luca Sbisa (hand) is expected to return to action Sunday.

He has missed the last 19 games with the hand injury. When Sbisa was injured at the start of December it was thought that the injury was short term. It was not. Sbisa had a goal and four points in 18 games before the injury. He has no real fantasy value. He is on the injured reserved list and there will have to be another move made when he is activated.
Jan 16 - 10:11 AM

Luca Sbisa (hand) skated before practice Saturday, but he didn't use a stick.

That probably means that he isn't close to returning from a hand injury. Sbisa hasn't played since Dec. 1 because of what was initially believed to be a short-term injury.

Luca Sbisa missed his second consecutive game with a hand injury Saturday.

Sbisa is not a great fantasy player as he has only a goal and four points in 18 games. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

The Vancouver Canucks consider Luca Sbisa's hand injury to be short-term.

It's not clear when Sbisa might be available, but the best bet would probably be to consider him day-to-day. He has a goal and three assists in 18 games in 2015-16.

Luca Sbisa (hand) is not in Vancouver's lineup for Thursday's game against Dallas.

Luca Sbisa left Wednesday night's game against the Jets in the second period according to the Canucks twitter account and will not return

Sbisa had played six minutes in his return to the lineup from a foot injury, but also took on Anthony Peluso in a first period scrap as a retaliation for an illegal hit to the head of the Jets Nikolai Ehlers earlier in the period. No word has been given as to the specifics of his injury. More to come.

Luca Sbisa (foot) is getting close to returning to action.

It likely won't be on the current road trip as Sbisa has yet to practice with the team. He has been out of action since October 30 when he managed two helpers. Sbisa has a goal and three assists in 11 games this season but his value to the Canucks is his toughness on the blueline.

Luca Sbisa has an undisclosed injury that is considered to be longer than "day-to-day."

He has been moved to injured reserve. Sbisa was just starting to produce before the injury. He had one goal and two assists in his last three games.

Vancouver Canucks GM Jim Benning sees a lot of value in what Luca Sbisa has brought to the team.

Benning signed Sbisa to a three-year, $10.8 million contract extension on Wednesday. "In this division, L.A., San Jose and Anaheim are big, heavy teams and he plays his best in those heavy games," Benning said of Sbisa. "He separates forwards from puck and has the strength. And we burned two years of him being a UFA. I feel it's a good deal for him and the team. He's kind of an old, throwback defenseman and he's showing more confidence with the puck skating out of his zone and is making good decisions with the puck. He's getting good confidence." Sbisa doesn't do much offensively, but he does have 149 hits and 127 blocked shots in 2014-15. It's worth noting that he looks bad from an analytics perspective as the Canucks tend to do significantly better when it comes to possessing the puck when he's off the ice.

Luca Sbisa has agreed to a three-year, $10.8 million contract with the Vancouver Canucks.

Sbisa was eligible to become a restricted free agent this summer. He has three goals and 11 points in 74 contests in 2014-15. He has also recorded 149 hits and 127 blocked shots while averaging 18:46 minutes per game. His new $3.6 million cap hit represents a significant increase over his current hit of $2.175 million.
