Colin Wilson's struggles last season helped spark an off-season shopping spree, as the Preds brought in multiple new centers that will make it tough for the 24 year-old to earn top-six minutes.
Wilson was a scorer during his NCAA days at Boston University, and improved each and every year in his first four NHL seasons. Between 2011-2013, the Greenwich, CT native notched 54 points in 93 games. But the 24 year-old had trouble finding the net last year, managing just 33 points in 81 games. The Preds brought in Derek Roy, Olli Jokinen and Mike Ribiero during the off-season, which will make it difficult for the 24 year-old Wilson to log decent ice-time and play with the team's gifted wingers. If Wilson does win a featured spot on the top two lines, he is capable of putting up good numbers once again, but don't count on it. Aug 24 - 10:30 AM

Colin Wilson admitted that his shoulder stabilization procedures could've held him back this past season.

"It was a tough start to the season and a tough season for myself. I didn't feel quite like myself at the beginning," Wilson said. "I think there were a few factors and (the shoulders) could have been one of them. I think I did everything I could and felt pretty good going into camp and throughout the season, but I tried to not let it get to me." He scored four goals in the first two months of the season and ended up with just 11 markers and 33 points in 81 games. Wilson was moved to his natural position at center this year, but the move didn't help him pick up points. Perhaps Nashville's new coach and a healthier start can give the 24-year-old forward the breakout season that the team and potential fantasy owners have been waiting for.
Apr 21 - 2:42 PM

Colin Wilson snapped a 33-game goalless slump in Thursday's win over the Buffalo Sabres.

"It was a good feeling," said Wilson after he scored his first goal since Dec. 30. "I've just been trying to get the puck to the net. I feel like I've had some good chances lately and they just haven't been going in, so maybe this will open something for the last couple of games here." He has eight goals and 20 assists in 73 games this season.

Colin Wilson will probably be in store for bigger role now that the Predators have traded top center David Legwand to Detroit.

He had been skating on the third line, but he's likely to get a top-six spot with Legwand out of the mix. Wilson hasn't scored a goal since Dec. 30 and he's generated just two assists in his past 18 games.
Mar 6 - 12:43 PM

Colin Wilson has been enjoying his time at center.

"I love it. It's great," he said. "I feel like I'm a lot more defensively responsible than in my first couple of years, and at the same time I'm supporting the puck, I feel more involved in the play and I can use my speed through the middle." Coach Barry Trotz has liked what he's seen from Wilson in the middle as well. However, the 24-year-old forward still has some work to do offensively. He has seven goals and 24 points in 58 games this season and he's collected just one assist in six contests since moving to center.
Feb 26 - 9:10 AM

Colin Wilson played in just his second game at center this season in Tuesday's win over Winnipeg.

"I thought he played really well. I thought Colin played really well," coach Barry Trotz said. "He made plays. More than anything, he was playing with pace, but he was hard on the puck. Once he got it, he wasn't giving it up easily." Wilson received 13:41 and he won 38 percent of his faceoffs. He hasn't scored a goal since Dec. 30 and he has only three assists in his last 15 matches.
Jan 29 - 10:19 AM

Colin Wilson registered two goals and an assist for Nashville in Monday's 6-4 win over the Red Wings.

A recent scratching of Wilson from the Preds lineup seems to have lit a fire under the young forward, as he has now picked up five points during an active three-game point streak. Mike Fisher also experienced a big night, racking up one goal and two helpers while Craig Smith, Nick Spaling and Roman Josi all found the back of the net in the win.

Center Colin Wilson will be back in the Nashville lineup when the Predators entertain the Montreal Canadiens tonight.

But make no mistake about Wilson's status. He needs to show considerable progress. He was a healthy scratch for the Preds' last game on Thursday. Wilson was supposed to be one of Nashville’s top offensive options and a leader. Instead, he has just 15 points in 34 games, and one point in his last six. Of the healthy scratch, Wilson said: "I think it’s them telling me that I need to do better." Coach Barry Trotz says Wilson must play better to remain in the lineup. "Our job as coaches is to try to get him to the next level," Trotz said. "As a coach you try everything from a subtle approach, to a teaching approach, to an in your face approach, to all those things," Trotz said. "Colin has been in the league five years now. He has to figure it out too. There’s a responsibility on the player as there is on the coaches."

Colin Wilson has earned one assist over his last six games.

He also has been credited with just two shots in his past four matches. Wilson has five goals and 15 points in 34 games this season, which puts him on pace for 36 points. That would be a new career high for the 24-year-old forward, but it wouldn't meet the expectations that the team had for him.

Nashville Predators forward Colin Wilson scored his team's lone goal on Tuesday in a 3-1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks.

He now has two tallies in the last two games, hammering 9 SOG in that time. He still only has 14 points in 28 contests, however, so he's not exactly a must-add. It's possible that he can develop into one, though.

Colin Wilson scored for the Predators as they fell 3-2 in a shootout against the Flyers on Saturday night.

The goal is Wilson's first since Nov. 6, a span of 12 games. Wilson only has four goals and nine assists on the season and has disappointed in his young career when you consider he was the seventh pick in the 2008 draft. Mike Fisher netted the other goal for Nashville. Ryan Ellis, Patric Hornqvist and Gabriel Bourque recorded the assists.

Colin Wilson scored two goals and registered two assists to lead the Predators to a 6-4 victory over the Avalanche.

Wilson, who began the night with five points (one goal, four assists) in 14 games, nearly matched that total against the Avalanche. Viktor Stalberg also had a strong game with a goal and an assist, while Ryan Ellis and David Legwand both added two helpers in the victory. Craig Smith, Paul Gaustad and Gabriel Bourque also scored for the Predators.

Colin Wilson picked up an assist Sunday night in a 3-1 win over Winnipeg, while celebrating his 24th birthday.

Colin Wilson scored his first goal of the season Tuesday night.

He scored one of Nashville's two power-play markers in the game. The Predators didn't have a goal with the man advantage entering Tuesday's contest.
Wed, Oct 9, 2013 09:19:00 AM

Colin Wilson has no points and just three shots on goal in his first two games of the season.

He was pegged as player who could help lead the Predators offensively this year, but he's averaged only 12:43 of ice time so far. Wilson had surgery on both his shoulders in the off-season, but it's unclear if that's the problem or if it's something else. Nashville is also looking for goals from Gabriel Bourque, Patric Hornqvist, Craig Smith and Matt Cullen.
