Josh Bailey got to the 70-point milestone on Tuesday.

Bailey had been held off the scoresheet in his previous three games and missed time due to an upper-body injury, so he had been stuck at 69 points since March 22nd. Regardless, this is the first time that he's hit the 70-point milestone after he finished 2016-17 with what was at the time a career-high 56 points.

Josh Bailey (upper body) will be back in the lineup on Tuesday night.

Bailey has missed the Islanders' last two games. He has 18 goals and 69 points in 73 contests this season. Consider him questionable for Tuesday's game.
Apr 3 - 9:22 AM

Josh Bailey (upper body) has been dealing with a mysterious ailment for the past few weeks that finally sidelined him Friday.

The Islanders are calling this an upper-body injury. "He just hasn't felt himself," coach Doug Weight said. "Now, people read into that concussion. Sometimes you have these injuries, your neck or your head or just upper body things that are progressively getting worse and you think they’re not that bad . . . But it's been an extended period of time. Bails had a really good year. He's shown up every day and worked and to be completely honest, something is not right and we want to figure it out."

Mar 30 - 12:24 PM

Josh Bailey is on a three-game point streak.

Bailey's goal on Monday was his 17th of the season, which represents a new career-high for him. When it comes to points, he's already well past his previous best as he has 65 points in 63 games.
Mar 6 - 6:34 AM

Josh Bailey played in his 700th game on Friday.

Bailey scored a goal in the milestone game, but the Islanders suffered a 6-3 loss to Montreal. He's spent his entire career with the Islanders and ranks eighth on the franchise's all-time games played list. Given that he recently signed a six-year, $30 million extension, it's fair to expect him to continue to climb up that list.
Mar 3 - 6:13 AM

Josh Bailey has agreed to a six-year, $30 million contract extension with the New York Islanders.

The Islanders didn't release the financial terms of the deal, but TSN's Bob McKenzie revealed them. Bailey has 15 goals and 62 points in 58 games this season so if he continues to play anything like that over the years to come then this will be a terrific signing for the Islanders. Even if he regresses a bit though, which seems likely, this will still be a decent price. The X-Factor of course is what this will mean for John Tavares. Bailey has been playing on a line with Tavares this season and we imagine the Islanders hope that re-signing Bailey will make Tavares more inclined to stick around too. If this deal helps them in their efforts to re-sign Tavares then that alone will make this worth it.

The New York Islanders and Josh Bailey are reportedly close to a multi-year agreement.

The final terms will reportedly be in the ballpark of five or six years with an annual cap hit of about $5 million. If that ends up being what happens, it seems pretty reasonable. Bailey is enjoying a huge season with 15 goals and 62 points in 57 contests, so if he manages to stay at that level then the Islanders will be getting a big bargain. Of course, they're also assuming a risk given that for most of his career, Bailey has been a 30-40ish point player. That being said, he did have 13 goals and 56 points in 2016-17, so while he's reaching new heights this season, it didn't come completely out of nowhere. Plus, if re-signing him helps convince his frequent linemate John Tavares to stay with the Islanders, then this will be money well spent.
Feb 22 - 5:59 PM

Josh Bailey found the back of the net in a 3-0 win over the Rangers on Thursday.

Bailey has only been held off the scoresheet once in his last seven games. He has 15 goals and 62 points in 55 contests in 2017-18. The puts him in a tie with teammate Mathew Barzal for 12th place in the NHL scoring race.
Feb 16 - 10:48 AM

Josh Bailey reached the 60-point milestone on Friday.

Bailey, who was playing in his 52nd game of 2017-18, got there by scoring a goal and registering an assist in the Islanders' 7-6 overtime win against Detroit. This is the first time that the 28-year-old has ever reached the 60-point milestone and of course there's still a good chunk of the season left to go. He's tied with Sidney Crosby for 11th place in the scoring race.
Feb 10 - 7:24 AM

Josh Bailey is on a three-game point streak.

Bailey has also managed to record at least a point in seven of his last nine games. That extends his superb season as he's up to 13 goals and 58 points in 51 contests. Before 2017-18, he had never recorded more than 56 points in a single season.
Feb 9 - 11:00 AM

Bailey held up the play beautifully at the blueline before getting the puck over to Adam Pelech who fired the puck in behind a screened Harri Sateri. Since returning from a lower-body injury that cost him four games, Bailey has picked up five points in five games and has brought his total up to 55 points in 47 games.
