Date:

Josh Bailey will return to the lineup on Saturday night against the Blackhawks.

He missed Thursday night's game with a lower body injury but appears to be back ready to go. He's expected to line up to the right of Matt Martin and Ryan Strome on the Isles fourth line.
Dec 13 - 6:20 PM

Josh Bailey has a nagging lower-body injury that will keep him out of Thursday's match against St. Louis.

Consider him day-to-day for now. He has recorded four goals and eight points in 18 games this year. Eric Boulton will draw into the lineup in Bailey's place.
Dec 11 - 2:54 PM

Josh Bailey scored his fourth goal of the season Tuesday, but the Islanders were upended by Minnesota by a score of 5-4.

Bailey had been held without a point for six straight games entering the contest so perhaps the tally will get him started on another hot streak. Michael Grabner, Brock Nelson and Matt Martin all found the back of the net in the defeat.
Dec 10 - 12:33 AM

Josh Bailey will be back in the Islanders' lineup on Tuesday.

Bailey missed the Islanders' previous two games due to an undisclosed injury. He'll help fill the void left by Casey Cizikas' (upper body) absence. Bailey is projected to play alongside Mikhail Grabovski and Frans Nielsen.
Dec 9 - 6:30 PM

Josh Bailey returned from a broken hand on Friday and played on the top line with Kyle Okposo and John Tavares.

Bailey replaced Nikolay Kulemin on the line as Kulemin moved to the second unit with Mikhail Grabovski and Frans Nielsen. Bailey set up Tavares for a goal as he forced a Florida turnover and saw Tavares deposit the puck into the net. Bailey has been a disappointment ever since the Islanders took him with the ninth pick of the 2008 Draft but some of that is on the Islanders as they rushed him to the NHL as a 19-year-old rather than letting him develop in junior and the minors. He just turned 25 so there is plenty of time to resurrect his career.
Nov 15 - 8:07 AM

Josh Bailey (hand) will be back in the Islanders' lineup on Friday.

Bailey was activated off of the injured reserve list Thursday, but there was initially some speculation that he might be scratched anyways. That's because Islanders coach Jack Capuano expressed a reluctance to alter his lineup after winning four straight games. Nevertheless, Bailey is expected to play alongside Frans Nielsen and Mikhail Grabovski.
Nov 14 - 12:10 PM

Even though Josh Bailey (hand) has been activated off the injured reserve list, he might not play on Friday.

Islanders coach Jack Capuano isn't in love with the idea of mixing up his lineup after winning four straight games. "If we put Bails back in," Capuano said, "someone has to come out. That's a hard decision right now." If Bailey does play, he'll probably skate on a line with Frans Nielsen and Mikhail Grabovski, based on Thursday's practice lines.
Nov 14 - 11:01 AM

Josh Bailey (hand) has been activated off injured reserve.

He has been sidelined since Oct. 23 because of a broken hand. In seven games prior to getting injured, Bailey notched two goals and two assists.
Nov 13 - 6:51 PM

Josh Bailey (hand) is close to returning to the lineup, but it won't come on Tuesday versus Colorado.

He took part in a full practice on Monday alongside, while taking turns on a line with Mikhail Grabovski, Frans Nielsen and Cal Clutterbuck. Bailey has been out of action with a broken hand since Oct. 23.
Nov 10 - 4:35 PM

Josh Bailey (broken hand) is not using a brace and is expected to return shortly.

Bailey has missed the last seven games but could be ready to go next week. He has four points this season with three coming in his last four games before the injury on October 23.
Nov 9 - 7:37 AM

Josh Bailey (broken hand) is looking to return to action within a week.

Bailey suffered the injury 10 days ago and it was thought he would be out for weeks but the hand is really improving. "I've really noticed a difference the last few days," Bailey said. "A lot of the bruising is gone. It's great to see that it's gotten better so quickly." He will likely have another x-ray in the next day or two and hopes to get clearance to up his on-ice workouts quickly.
Nov 2 - 7:00 AM

It's not much of a surprise, but the New York Islanders placed Josh Bailey on IR Saturday.

He's considered "week-to-week" with a broken hand, so it was a matter of time, and Mikhail Grabovski's return expedited this process. The ninth pick of the 2008 NHL Draft was starting to heat up lately, too, with three of his season's four points in the last four games.
Oct 25 - 12:45 PM

Josh Bailey broke his hand during Thursday's game.

Bailey is expected to be sidelined for several weeks as a result, although we don't have a more specific timetable at this time. He has three assists in six points in 2014-15.
Oct 24 - 11:02 AM

Josh Bailey's position with the New York Islanders might not be secure after his challenging 2013-14 campaign.

Bailey had just eight goals and 38 points in 77 games last season. He's signed through 2017-18, but the offseason additions of Mikhail Grabovski and wing Nikolai Kulemin further marginalized Bailey and he'll also be pressured by up-and-coming forwards Brock Nelson, Ryan Strome, and Anders Lee as they fight for roster spots. For his part, Bailey is hoping to use the fact that he's spot's in jeopardy as motivation. "If someone were to take it the opposite way, it wouldn't work out for them," Bailey said. "There's certainly some points of inconsistency I'd like to correct and my goal totals aren't anywhere what I'm capable of or want them to be."
