Viktor Tikhonov and David Rundblad will be scratched for the third straight game on Wednesday when Chicago takes on St. Louis at home

Tikhonov is scoreless in eight games averaging around 10 minutes, which includes the odd promotion to top scoring lines. The Russian will have to be patient and continue to work hard to be reinserted into the lineup. Rundblad will also miss his third straight, going pointless in five games in 2015-16.
Nov 4 - 8:00 PM

Viktor Tikhonov will continue to play on the Blackhawks top line alongside Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa.

He still hasn't registered a point in five games and the jury is out on whether this will be his last chance on the top unit. Proceed with caution here.
Oct 24 - 1:14 PM

Viktor Tikhonov is back on the top with Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa.

"I'm incredibly excited to try again," said Tikhonov, who was a healthy scratch this past Saturday. "I love playing with those guys — they're extremely positive, and they help out with every single play. Those are two guys that can make a scoring chance out of nothing. As long as we have the puck and we outwork the other team, we should get things going." Coach Joel Quenneville has gone through several different players, while searching for someone to play with Toews and Hossa. This will be Tikhonov's second look on the top line and he's hoping to stay there.
Oct 21 - 6:17 PM

It appears that Victor Tikhonov will be a healthy scratch Saturday night against Columbus.

He will be the one sitting in the pressbox in favor of Vince Hinostroza. The third line will now start out as: Teuvo Teravainen-Hinostroza-Ryan Garbutt. Bryan Bickell will start Saturday night's game on the first line alongside Jonathan Toews and Marian Hoss. Adjust your lineup accordingly.
Oct 17 - 12:46 PM

Viktor Tikhonov seems like he's still in the mix to make the Chicago Blackhawks' main roster.

In classic Joel Quenneville vague quote fashion, he said the following about Tikhonov: "He's probably in a group of about seven guys who are competing for about one or two or three spots ..."
Sep 26 - 1:49 PM

The Chicago Blackhawks have signed Viktor Tikhonov to a one-year, $1.04 million contract.

Tikhonov has played in the KHL since 2011-12 and finally became an unrestricted free agent today from the Coyotes. Expect him to be a bottom-six forward without great stats.
Jul 1 - 1:18 PM

Arizona GM Don Maloney is still in contact with Viktor Tikhonov's agent, but it's unclear if the 27-year-old forward will be back in the NHL.

"We would like to bring him back if the price is right," Maloney said. "I don't know whether that's going to happen." Tikhonov has played the past four seasons in the KHL with SKA St. Petersburg, but he is interested in coming back to the NHL. He can become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
Jun 11 - 6:23 PM

Arizona GM Don Maloney says that Viktor Tikhonov wants to return to the NHL.

The Coyotes own his NHL rights but Tikhonov is eligible to become a UFA on July 1. He was drafted 28th overall in the 2008 Draft but has played only in the KHL since the start of the 2011-12 season. "His game has grown," Maloney said. "Certainly, he's a more mature player. Obviously, he's had really good success over in Russia and the World Championship. He was an MVP at the World Championship last year, so his game has grown. I think he's another player you have to look at in regards to some of the holes we have and say, 'Can he come in and fill a role for us and a hole for us and what's the cost? He's not coming back here on a two-way, entry-level contact. That would make it easy if he was. He's been well-paid and deserves to be well-paid and will probably look to be well-paid here. It's still too early to say whether we can entice him back or not, but we're certainly interested in talking to him." He has eight goals and 24 points in 45 games this season.
Feb 14 - 7:39 AM

Viktor Tikhonov will remain in the KHL for the 2014-15 season.

Tikhonov was selected in the first round, 28th overall in the 2008 Draft and played 61 NHL games that season but has not been back in the NHL since as he played some in the minors before the Coyotes loaned him to the KHL. He has one year remaining at $3.1 million in a contract that he apparently cannot get out of. The Coyotes will continue to hold his NHL rights until the summer of 2015 when he will become a UFA.

He registered two goals and one assist in a 4-1 win over Latvia. Russia is 5-0 at the tournament and they already secured themselves a spot in the quarterfinals. Tikhonov, who has spent the last three seasons in the KHL, leads the tournament in scoring with six goals and 12 points.

Viktor Tikhonov has five goals and seven assists in 17 games for St. Petersburg of the KHL.

The Coyotes selected the left winger with the 28th overall pick in the 2008 Entry Draft but he has disapointed so far. Tikhonov appeared in 61 games with Phoenix in 2008-09, but he hasn't been back to the NHL level since.

The Coyotes demoted Viktor Tikhonov to Portland of the AHL on Saturday.

It was to be a make or break camp for Tikhinov and it appears it broke. It looks as Vasily's son will never make it big in the NHL. Other demoted to the AHL by the Coyotes on Saturday were forward Marc-Antoine Pouliot and defensemen Chris Summers and Max Goncharov.

Viktor Tikhonov is heading into training camp with a make-or-break mindset to make the team.

"Absolutely," he said. "Especially for me, you don't know how long you're going to be a prospect, so this could be the last chance right here. You've got to give everything and just got to fight to make the team." He can play center or the wing and with Kyle Turris still unsigned heading into camp there could be an opportunity for him down the middle. Tikhonov appeared in 61 games with Phoenix in 2008-09, but he hasn't been back to the NHL level since.
