The Florida Panthers have assigned Harri Sateri to the AHL.
The move isn't exactly surprising, as Florida will roll with Roberto Luongo and James Reimer between the pipes. Sateri spent the last three years with Podolsk Vityaz in the KHL. The 27-year-old could earn a callup if either of the Panthers' top two goalies suffer an injury. Sep 30 - 10:14 AM

The Florida Panthers have signed Harri Sateri to a one-year, two-way contract.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound native of Toijala, Finland, was named KHL goaltender of the week during the week of Sep. 25. In 132 KHL games (2014-17), Sateri owns a 52-60-16 record, 2.63 goals against average, .923 save percentage and nine shutouts. Harri Sateri stopped all 26 shots he faced to earn a 2-0 shutout against Team USA in the 2017 World Championship Quarterfinals.

Team USA had dominated in the preliminary round, winning six of their seven round robin games, so this early exit for the squad is quite the upset. Sateri, 27, had a 2.50 GAA and .929 save percentage in 42 games with the KHL's Chekhov Vityaz in 2016-17. At one point he was part of the San Jose Sharks' organization, but he only played on their AHL squad.

The San Jose Sharks have provided Harri Sateri with a qualifying offer.

Sateri has already agreed to terms in the KHL, so obviously he won't accept it. All this means is that the Sharks are retaining his NHL rights.

Harri Sateri has agreed to terms with the KHL's Vityaz Podolsk.

Sateri was taken in the fourth round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the San Jose Sharks. He has spent four seasons with the AHL Worcester Sharks and never ended up playing in the NHL.

Harri Sateri is projected to challenge Alex Stalock for San Jose's No. 2 goalie position this campaign.

"To say that Alex has the inside edge on Harri would be unfair to both of them," Sharks coach Todd McLellan said. "We know where [Antti Niemi] stands, and he looks good. Nemo can't play 82 games, and it's not a lockout season, so whoever wins that other job will get a chance to play and really establish themselves in the league." Sateri and Stalock split starts in the AHL last year with Worcester.

The San Jose Sharks have re-signed minor league goalie Harri Sateri to a one-year deal.

No terms were announced. Sateri spent time in the AHL in 2012-13 as he split the net with Alex Stalock. The former fourth round pick in the 2008 Draft, Sateri was 14-21-3 with a 2.89 GAA and a .903 save percentage last season. Sateri is only 23, so he still has time to make it in the NHL.
