Luke Adam's goal against Ottawa Friday night was his first in the NHL since December 17, 2011.
Adam was once regarded as a hot prospect. That is not the case any longer. Although he may garner some additional ice time over the last three weeks of the season as the Sabres have cleaned house, Adam can be ignored for fantasy purposes. Apr 6 - 9:14 AM

Date:

Luke Adam has been summoned from the minors.

He might be up in case Ville Leino (lower body) or Thomas Vanek (upper body) can't play Tuesday night, but his presence on the team could also be a safeguard for a possible trade. With the deadline just a day away this type of speculation should be expected. Adam had 10 goals and 10 assists in 52 games with the Sabres last season.

The fact that the Sabres opted to promote Brian Flynn Friday over Luke Adam is telling for how the franchise now regards Adam.

He has registered a disappointing 24 points in 49 games in the AHL this season and seems to be the forgotten man. If you have been waiting for Adam, a top pick, to break out it may be time to cut him loose.

Luke Adam and Marcus Foligno each potted goals in Rochester's 4-3 shootout loss to Toronto on Saturday night.

Adam remains a bit mystifying as he's really struggled to produce over the past two years after such a promising 2010-11 campaign. He has just 11 points on the season, after recording 33 in 79 between the AHL and NHL last year. Foligno, on the other hand, has thrived with 24 points in as many games.

Luke Adam scored a goal in the Rochester Americans 3-2 win over Abbottsford Tuesday night.

The goal was only the fourth of the campaign and eight point for Adam in 19 games, which has caused some of the luster to come off his prospect status. Considering he played 52 games with the Sabres last season after registering better than a point per game in the AHL with Portland the year before, this can only be viewed as a disappointment.

Luke Adam scored for Rochester in its 4-3 loss to Toronto on Saturday night.

It was just his third goal and seventh point of the season. Adam had 20 points in 52 games with the Sabres last season but needs to keep producing in the AHL to assure himself of a spot once the lockout ends.

Luke Adam is off to a slow start with Rochester of the AHL.

Although Adam had 20 points in 52 games with Buffalo last season, he has yet to be a consistent offensive force with the Americans thus far this year. In 14 games, he has scored only two goals and registered three assists, while recording a minus two rating. He is one of only two Rochester forwards to have a minus rating this campaign. Adam is going to pick up his game if he wants to play in the NHL this season. That is, of course, if there is an NHL this season.

Luke Adam scored the first goal of the game Friday night, but Rochester came up short in its 5-4 loss to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Adam hasn't found the AHL too difficult in his young career. He has four points in seven games this season. The 22-year-old has been a bit inconsistent during his time in the NHL, though. Zemgus Girgensons had an assist and a penalty as well.

Luke Adam has been assigned to the AHL by the Sabres on Friday.

Adam had 10 goals and 10 assists in 52 games before he was sent down the AHL. He is one of 20 players Buffalo has loaned to Rochester.

Luke Adam will face stiff competition to make the Buffalo Sabres out of training camp.

Adam is perhaps more widely regarded as a center, but he's also capable of serving as a winger and hopes that versatility will help him crack the Sabres' lineup. "I don't feel like one position is more suitable for me, but I feel comfortable at both and I'll play where ever Lindy asks me," Adam said, referring to Sabres coach Lindy Ruff. Adam had a great start to the 2011-12 campaign, but he went cold and eventually got sent down to the minors. He had 10 goals and 20 points in 52 NHL games.

Luke Adam has been reassigned to AHL Rochester.

Adam was a healthy scratch on Friday after failing to record a point in his previous 20 games. "Right now [Adam's] confidence level is low," Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said. "He needs to go play a lot of minutes, he needs to get back on the scoresheet. And I don't think this is unlike a lot of young players. It's been a tough stretch for him."

Luke Adam spent Friday's game in the press box.

Adam had a strong start to the season, but he's pointless in his last 20 games. At this point, we shouldn't be surprised if the Sabres decide to send him down to the AHL. "It's a thought just to get him going, get him back on the scoresheet," said coach Lindy Ruff said. "He's definitely had his struggles but it isn't something we've discussed yet."

Luke Adam was a healthy scratch on Tuesday night.

"Luke has had a tough run," coach Lindy Ruff said. "Like any young player, he's going to have his ups and downs. He had a couple tough games on the road. I actually though that [Matt] Ellis and [Cody] McCormick had been playing better and the puck possession was good. It's not earth-shattering that a young player sits out a game. I think it's the trials and tribulations a lot of time, but he's got to stay around the puck more." Adam doesn't have a point in his past 17 games.

Luke Adam has seen his ice time drop and coach Lindy Ruff believes that the rookie's confidence has been shaken.

"It isn't about the defensive shortcomings. It's about the amount of plays he's made," Ruff said. "If Luke was getting 4-5 chances a game, that part of the ice time would go up, if he was making plays or setting up people. That part has to be better. He's probably lost a lot of confidence right now and it's tough. So you turn to your veteran guys and hope they can turn it for you. In the meantime, you hope Luke can find some confidence." Adam posted 11 points in the first 11 games of the year, while seeing the majority of that time between Jason Pominville and Thomas Vanek, but of late that assignment has gone to Jochen Hecht and Adam has been relegated to the wing as a bottom-six forward. Adam has one point in his last 15 games, but his 10 goals are surprisingly the third most on the team.

Luke Adam recorded a goal and an assist as the Buffalo Sabres edged the Nashville Predators on Saturday night 3-2.

With 18 points in 26 games, the youngster has had a very nice rookie season. He's been a bit quiet lately, however, tallying only two points (both goals) in his five games prior to this one. The other goal scorers for the Sabres included Zach Kassian (second) and Tyler Ennis (first). It was also nice to see Ville Leino show some signs of life, getting two helpers (just his ninth point) in the win.
