McGinn never got a ton of playing time with the San Jose Sharks, but he's a legitimate top-six forward with the lowly Avalanche. With the goal tonight, he has 16 points in 34 games in this 48-game shortened season. He’s worth a look in deeper leagues.

Colorado will sit Jamie McGinn as a healthy scratch Wednesday night.

He won't play against Dallas because he's underachieved on a line with Matt Duchene and P.A. Parenteau. Coach Joe Sacco also said, "He needs to play a physical game consistently all the time, not just parts of the game." He's generated just one goal and one assist in his last 14 matches.

Jamie McGinn will stay on a line with Matt Duchene and P.A. Parenteau despite the fact that Gabriel Landeskog (head) is ready to return.

That's a big vote of confidence for McGinn, who has three goals and 11 points in 15 games this season. He never got a ton of playing time with the San Jose Sharks, but he's a legitimate top-six forward with Colorado.

Jamie McGinn has agreed to a two-year/$3.5 million contract extension.

McGinn excelled in his brief stint with Colorado last season, scoring eight goals and 13 points in 17 games. He went from averaging just 12:33 minutes per game in San Jose to 16:40 with the Avalanche. If Colorado continues to give him that kind of playing time in 2012-13, then he'll have some fantasy value in standard leagues.

Jamie McGinn has decided to file for arbitration.

The Avs forward was acquired from the Sharks in Feburary, and he scored 20 goals and tallied 17 assists in the 78 total games. He made $680,00 this past season, and he could really be due a nice raise with a 20-goal season to his name, despite never showing that ability in years prior.

Jamie McGinn will play against his former team in San Jose on Monday night, with the two clubs locked in a heated race for the final playoff spot.

McGinn has been a great pickup for the Avalanche since he was acquired on deadline day in a five-player trade. He has recorded eight goals and four assists in 13 games, while flourishing in Colorado's top-six forward group. "It's been nice for me to get a little more ice time lately, and to be able to play with such a good center like Paul Stastny and our other guys," he said. "I've felt pretty comfortable here from Day One. It'll be different (tonight) against them I'm sure. I'll probably most feel it when we get to the rink. They've got a lot of talented players and we need to make sure we bring our best effort against them."
