Columbus has recalled defenseman Nick Holden from Springfield of the AHL.

Holden has a total of five career NHL games to his name, but he'll be forced into action due to injuries across the Columbus blue line. He has racked up 22 points in 44 games with Springfield, but isn't worth a waiver claim in your league.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed Nick Holden to a one-year, two-way contract.

Holden had three goals and nine points in 25 AHL contests in 2011-12. He'll be competing for a roster spot in training camp, but it wouldn't be surprising if he started the season in the minors.

Nick Holden has agreed to a one-year, two-way contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Blue Jackets declined to disclose the financial terms of the agreement. Holden had four goals and 25 points in 67 AHL games last season. He also made his NHL debut on October 20th, 2010 and ended up playing in five games with Columbus.

Nick Holden has been solid in two games since being called up by the Columbus Blue Jackets.

"He's real smooth back there," coach Scott Arniel said. "He did some nice things. He seems confident. He doesn't look like a nervous kid. I know it's a big step for him, but both games he's come in and looked very comfortable." Holden will probably return to the minors once Anton Stralman and Kris Russell are healthy, but he'll probably enjoy another NHL stint before the season is over.

Nick Holden has been called up by the Columbus Blue Jackets.

He may end up drawing into the lineup on Wednesday should Kris Russell (lower body) and Anton Stralman (shoulder) be unable to play. They are both questionable and will be evaluated in the morning.

Nick Holden is finally healthy after spending nearly two months on the sidelines with mononucleosis.

He has two points in four games with the Jackets' AHL affiliate in Syracuse and is waiting for the chance to show the big club he can compete in the NHL. Holden should not be on your fantasy radar.

Nick Holden has been diagnosed with mononucleosis.

He may be forced to sit out the beginning of training camp as a result, but is projected to start the 2009-10 season in the minors. Holden appeared in 61 games with the Jackets' AHL affiliate in Syracuse last campaign, totaling 22 points and 46 penalty minutes.
