Nick Holden is expected to play his fifth consecutive game at Chicago Tuesday.
He had been a healthy scratch for the previous four contests and is trying to reclaim the form he displayed during the 2013-14 campaign. "Last year, it was an unbelievable year," Holden said Monday. "The start of the year, it hasn't gone as planned. You have to keep working hard and do what you can do." In 54 games this year, he generated 10 goals and 25 points. Jan 6 - 10:29 AM

Nick Holden will remain a heathy scratch Saturday against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Holden has scored two goals and four assists this season in 31 games for the Avalanche but will be a healthy scratch for the fourth straight game. A minus 16 rating in those 31 games may be the reason for his continuous scratching.

Nick Holden will be a scratch for the third straight game Tuesday night against the Blues.

No denying it now, he's firmly in Coach Roy's dog house. Holden has six points and 24 PIMs in 31 games so far this season.

Nick Holden and Patrick Bordeleau will sit Sunday night in Detroit, as Dennis Everberg tags in.

Holden has fallen off this season and is not hold much fantasy value unless you need a block or hit in a pinch. In which he might give you one or two respectively. Bordeleau, who's sitting with a slight leg injury, had 115 PIMs and 178 hits in all 82 games last season, but has just two hits in one game so far. Everberg has no fantasy value.

Nick Holden, Dennis Everberg and Jesse Winchester will be healthy scratches against the Sabres Saturday night.

Nothing earth shaking here. Just thought you may want to know who will be snacking up in the press box at the Niagara Center.

Nick Holden will skate as a forward on Thursday night.

"I'll play as hard as I can. But, obviously, I'm being put on forward just because my game is not where it needs to be on D," Holden said. He is slated to play on the fourth line with Michael Sgarbossa and Cody McLeod, which is where he practiced on Wednesday. Holden has four points and a minus-16 rating in 25 games this season.

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Nick Holden is looking to build on the success he had last season.

Holden was a surprise contributor for the Avs last season, and is looking to get even better after a strong rookie season. "Last year I had a good opportunity in the last three quarters of the year and I did well with it, but until I can prove myself consistently on a year-by-year basis, I don't see how you can say I'm a bargain guy yet," he said. " I think the best players, the biggest thing they bring is consistency. I don't think you can judge a player off one season, or in my case, three quarters of a season." The 27-year-old registered 10 goals and 25 points in just 54 regular season games last year.

Colorado defenseman Nick Holden turned in a memorable night Saturday with three points, a plus-2 rating, five shots and nine hits in 18:07 of ice time in a 5-4 triumph over the Nashville Predators.

"That stat line is definitely pretty good. That is probably one of the best ones I have had," he said. "I definitely had the team in front me to help me out. Some good plays to get me those two goals, and then [Matt Duchene] with an unbelievable shot that went in there (the game-winning goal). The hits, I just try and do that every game. Try and hit as much as I can. Try and take time and space away from forwards."

Nick Holden powered the Avalanche to a 5-4 win over the Predators on Saturday night with three points.

Holden, now 26 and originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Blue Jackets, scored twice and had an assist. A great performance, sure, but don't go crazy trying to pick him up just yet -- he had 39 points in the AHL last year, but remember he was also 25 years old. Matt Duchene, Gabriel Landeskog and Jan Hejda also scored. John Mitchell, Paul Stastny and Nathan MacKinnon each notched two helpers apiece.
