Grant Clitsome saw a specialist Tuesday after having the eye stitched up Monday night, but he was back on the ice in the morning.

He didn't play against the Islanders on Tuesday night, but he appears to be all right. "Once I saw (the specialist) and he fully cleared me and said there were no scratches or damage to my eyeball... that was really good news," said Clitsome. "It feels good. My peripheral vision is not great because of the swelling. Under my eyelid it's split, so it kind of feels like I have eyelashes in my eye and that feeling just makes my eyes water and it makes it hard to get clear vision." It doesn't sound like he'll be out for very long after he took a stick to his eye in Monday's loss to the Rangers.
Apr 3 - 7:20 AM

Grant Clitsome left Monday's game against the Rangers after he took a stick to his eye early in the first period.

His night ended after just two shifts and 48 seconds of ice time, but coach Claude Noel doesn't think the prognosis will be too serious. "It's day-to-day. We're not sure where he's at," said Noel. "It's just swollen shut. I think he's going to be okay. That's what it looks like right now. We're just trying to control the swelling and look further into it." That being said, he probably won't be available for Tuesday's match-up versus the Islanders.

Grant Clitsome could make his Winnipeg debut in Monday's game against Buffalo.

He was claimed off waivers from Columbus last week and coach Claude Noel is strongly considering giving the defenseman his first game in a Jets' uniform due to an injury to Zach Bogosian. "I'm leaning towards Clitsome because we haven't seen him and I'd like to see how he does," Noel said. "That would be about it." Mark Flood is the other option that the Winnipeg bench boss might choose.

Grant Clitsome is excited to be a member of the Winnipeg Jets.

He joined his new teammates on the ice for practice Wednesday after being plucked off waivers from Columbus on Monday. "It's a whole adjustment process," said Clitsome. "(Head coach) Claude (Noel) just told me to come in, get to know the guys, get comfortable in your surroundings and ease your way in. The same group of guys have been together all season and they're doing really well and are in the middle of a playoff push, so I just want to come in and help out if I can. I hope I can help with the transition game, move the puck a little bit and be reliable defensively and just try to do my job out there." With Zach Bogosian returning from injury on Thursday, it is likely that Clitsome may have to wait to make his Winnipeg debut.

Grant Clitsome was certainly caught off guard when he was placed on waivers Saturday.

When asked what he thought about the move, Clitsome had the following to say, "Shocked, I guess. But I think everyone knows that changes are coming. Whatever happens, happens." Blue Jacket GM said that if Clitsome and Ryan Russell, who was also placed on waivers, clear, they will not be demoted to the AHL but will remain with Columbus. That said, Clitsome's role with the club will be diminished even further with the arrival of Jack Johnson. It seems as if Clitsome, who was last season's Cinderalla has now turned back into a pumpkin.
