Grant Clitsome suited up in his first game of the season Tuesday night.
He picked up an assist and a plus-1 rating in Winnipeg's 3-1 win against Carolina. Clitsome replaced Adam Pardy in the lineup and coach Paul Maurice was pleased with his performance. "That was a pretty impressive step from his exhibition schedule," said Maurice. "That was a different player we saw. Confident, physical." It may have earned Clitsome another appearance on Friday. Grant Clitsome says he has completely recovered from a back injury that forced him to miss the last 46 games of the regular season last year.

"We took it nice and slow this summer. I progressed gradually throughout the spring and summer to make sure I didn’t aggravate it," said Clitsome. "[I] kept on top of my rehab and came to see the doctors here in July and got the green light saying everything was basically as good as it could be." Clitsome was limited to 32 games last year and registered 2 goals and 12 points.

Grant Clitsome (back) has been skating every other day.

He sat out the Jets' last 46 games after having surgery on the herniated disc in his back. Doctors also removed a bone fragment during the procedure. "At least it's fixed now and it will be good for next year," he said.

Defenseman Grant Clitsome notched a goal and two assists as the Winnipeg Jets upset the visiting San Jose Sharks 5-4 in a shootout.

The Sharks led 2-0 after one period. But the Jets tied it a 3-3 in the second with Clitsome scoring his second goal of the season and assisting on Dustin Byfuglien's first goal of the season. Clitsome then assisted on Andrew Ladd's goal (his fifth of the season) late in regulation to send the game into overtime. Michael Frolik (fourth) also scored for the Jets.

Grant Clitsome was activated from the IL on Sunday October 6.

He made his season debut against the Ducks after missing the first two games of the year with a lower-body injury. Clitsome posted two shots, four penalty minutes and a minus-1 rating in his return to action.
