Davis Drewiske will play alongside Andrei Markov on Montreal's second pairing.
The new Canadiens defenseman will fill in for injured blueliner Alexei Emelin, who isn't expected to play again this season. Josh Gorges and P.K. Subban will likely get the majority of the ice time for the team as the top tandem. Apr 9 - 8:14 AM

Los Angeles Kings trade Davis Drewiske to Montreal Canadiens for fifth-round draft pick.

Drewiske is a solid depth defenseman who was pushed out of the lineup by the recently acquired Robyn Regehr. He'll add some size and help fill out the Canadiens' third pairing on defense but is unlikely to rate in your fantasy league.

Defenseman Davis Drewiske scored his first goal of the season Monday in a 4-1 win over St. Louis.

The goal was the first power play goal by a Los Angeles defenseman this season. Drewiske has a goal and three points in 11 games this season with a plus-two rating so he could be taken off the waiver wire in very deep leagues.

Davis Drewiske's goal in Detroit on Thursday was his first of the season and halted a 130:35 minute Kings scoring drought.

Interim coach John Stevens, who by all accounts will be replaced by Darryl Sutter on Tuesday, has used the defensive minded Drewiske in both games since he took over behind the Kings bench as the defenseman was a healthy scratch in 24 of the Kings first 25 games. Drewiske rewarded him with the goal but do not expect much offensively from the former member of the University of Wisconsin player.

Davis Drewiske will draw into the Los Angeles lineup for only the second time this season.

Drewiske has been a healthy scratch in 24 of the Kings 25 games but will play alongside Matt Greene as Willie Mitchell is out of the Kings lineup after suffering an injury in his first shift on Thursday. Do not expect much from Drewiske as he will just try to be a steady defenseman on the Kings blueline.

He will play instead of Kevin Westgarth in the lineup. Brad Richardson will center the line while John Zeiler plays right wing. This is just an FYI considering none of these players has much fantasy value.

Davis Drewiske (shoulder) will not play on Saturday.

Drewiske has been out of the Kings lineup since Jan. 4. It was thought he was ready to return a week ago, but that was not to be. "No, he's not in (Saturday)", coach Terry Murray said. "He's close. He's really close. We're just trying to get him game-ready. As far as his rehab is concerned, it has gone along pretty well, but we just need to get him, in our minds, ready to step in and play at the level of game that we're playing at." He has no fantasy value with only one goal and eight points in 38 games.

Davis Drewiske (shoulder) is due back in the Los Angeles lineup on Sunday.

Drewiske suffered the shoulder injury on Jan. 4. He has been skating for two weeks. "It's getting better," coach Terry Murray said. "The plan, at the beginning of the trip, was that he would get in at the end. I don't see it as a back-to-back. I don't want to go that route. If I decide to put him in, it would probably be the game in New Jersey, and that's been the plan from the very beginning." He has no fantasy value with only a goal and eight points in 38 games.
