Jeff Zatkoff made just 15 saves in a 3-1 loss to Carolina on Thursday.
Allowing three goals on just 18 shots isn't going to get it done for fantasy owners. Despite playing well in his last two appearances, he has just a 3.05 GAA and .887 GAA in six appearances this season as the backup to the backup option for the Kings this season with Jonathan Quick out. He's not a fantasy option right now. Dec 9 - 1:48 AM

Date:

Jeff Zatkoff will probably play between the pipes on Thursday.

That's based on the fact that Zatkoff was the first goalie off the ice following the morning skate, which is usually a good indicator of who the starter will be. He has a 3.04 GAA and .896 save percentage in five contests this season.
Dec 8 - 3:31 PM

Kings backup Jeff Zatkoff stopped 25-of-26 shots in relief, backstopping Los Angeles to a come from behind 4-3 win.

Starter Peter Budaj allowed two goals on six shots and was lifted in favour of Zatkoff to start the second period. The win was the first of the year for the Zatkoff who has appeared in five games. He's 1-3 with a 3.04 GAA and .896 save percentage.
Dec 2 - 1:36 AM

Jeff Zatkoff might get into his first game since Nov. 11 on Thursday.

It's the second half of a back-to-back set for the Kings. Zatkoff has returned from a groin injury, but with Peter Budaj playing well, Zatkoff has had to wait patiently to get into a game. "I’ve been around long enough, you’ve just got to stay patient and wait your turn," Zatkoff said. "We play 82 games, right? We’re [23] games in. We need both guys to make it to the end. I’m at a point now where I’m just working on kind of getting back to full speed and maintaining that strength to make sure I don’t have any more setbacks the rest of the year."
Dec 1 - 11:10 AM

Jeff Zatkoff (groin) feels ready to return to the lineup.

Zatkoff attempted to return on Nov. 11, but he left that game after 40 minutes of play. At this point though, it seems he's available for whenever the coaching staff wants to start him.
Nov 18 - 4:34 PM

Jeff Zatkoff suffered a lower-body injury in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators.

Zatkoff left the game right before the end of the second period with the Kings leading 2-1. Peter Budaj, who played against Montreal last night, entered the game in relief. He allowed two goals in the final four minutes of the game and the Kings eventually lost. Zatkoff didn't factor into the decision.
Nov 11 - 11:51 PM

Jeff Zatkoff will face Ottawa on Friday night.

Through three games Zatkoff had seen 10 pucks beat him before going down with an injury. For his career, he's posted a .910 save percentage and a 2.77 GAA.
Nov 11 - 7:04 PM

Jeff Zatkoff is full recovered from his groin injury and he is no longer listed on injured reserve for the Kings.

"I felt really good," he said after Monday's practice. "… First full day, no pain, nothing. I feel like I'm 100 percent ready to go, so real positive. I think a little day off yesterday and kind of the rest I've had [was beneficial] – that little extra rest from Saturday really made a difference." He will look to battle Peter Budaj for playing time with Jonathan Quick still on the sidelines.
Nov 7 - 3:10 PM

Jeff Zatkoff (lower body) skated on Tuesday.

Zatkoff did face some shots, but they weren't mirroring a game scenario, so at some point he has to face more difficult shots. "You know, a little more reactionary and just make sure I can have that and kind of go from there. That’s kind of the next big step for me is not that pre-planned shot but just kind of going into a little something, just going with the flow and reacting and seeing how I handle it," Zatkoff explained. He's making progress, but his return isn't imminent.
Nov 1 - 6:37 PM

Jeff Zatkoff (lower body) is expected to skate Tuesday morning, according to goalie coach Bill Ranford.

There was no update on Zatkoff's status Monday, but one could come if he skates during Tuesday's session. He hasn't played since Oct. 18 because of a lower-body injury.
Oct 31 - 2:58 PM

Jeff Zatkoff (lower body) might be ready to return around when he's eligible to be activated off the injured reserve list.

Zatkoff was injured on Saturday and he has to stay on the IR for at least seven days. "You know what, I think a week is pretty much normal for that," Kings coach Darryl Sutter said. "…It’s not extended or anything like that. So I just look at it like the schedule we play every other day and then back-to-back to finish this week, so he wouldn’t be eligible to come off til after we come home from that trip." With Jonathan Quick hurt too, the Kings' goaltenders are currently Peter Budaj and Jack Campbell.
Oct 24 - 6:17 PM

The LA Kings have placed Jeff Zatkoff on injured reserve with a lower-body injury.

The move allows them to swap Zatkoff's cap hit for, at least for the time being, Jack Campbell's who's already been called up to the big club. We'll keep you posted on Zatkoff's status as it develops, until then Peter Budaj is the main man in The City of Angels.
Oct 22 - 6:22 PM

Jeff Zatkoff suffered a lower body injury in practice on Saturday morning, and will not play against the Canucks.

He needed help off the ice and into the locker room as well. Ouch. That's a tough blow to the 29-year-old who was being offered the Kings' crease in Jonathan Quick's absence. Peter Budaj will step in tonight. We'll keep you posted on Zatkoff's prognosis.
Oct 22 - 4:35 PM

Jeff Zatkoff was pulled after allowing five goals on just 16 shots in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Minnesota Wild.

Zatkoff has been forced into the starter's role because of the injury to Jonathan Quick and it hasn't gone very well. The 29-year-old has dropped both of his starts and all three of his appearances this season. The Kings' opponents have scored nine goals on Zatkoff in their last two games. It's obvious that Los Angeles will have to go find themselves another goalie if they want to turn things around. Peter Budaj stopped all nine shots he faced in relief of Zatkoff. They now own an 0-3-0 in 2016-17. Zatkoff isn't an option in standard fantasy leagues.
Oct 19 - 12:11 AM

Jeff Zatkoff was the first goalie off the ice during Tuesday's morning skate.

That usually indicates that he'll be between the pipes for tonight's contest. The Kings will be taking on the Wild on the road in Minnesota. Zatkoff will be making his third straight appearance because Jonathan Quick is sidelined with an injury. He has an 0-2 record with a 3.08 goals-against-average and a .891 save percentage. There are much better fantasy options tonight.
