Jeff Zatkoff will get the start in Saturday's game against the New Jersey Devils.

He will go head-to-head with Cory Schneider. The Penguins are opting to give Marc-Andre Fleury some rest after he dropped a 2-1 decision to Columbus on Friday. Zatkoff has a 2-0-0 record with a 1.96 goals-against-average and a .952 save percentage. He last started on Nov. 6 against Edmonton.
Nov 14 - 5:13 PM

Jeff Zatkoff out-dueled Edmonton's Anders Nilsson 2-1 with 27 saves on Friday night.

Zatkoff was stellar all night long, only getting beat by a rising clapper by Oscar Klefbom from bout 40 feet. Zatkoff has won both of his starts while stopping 57 of 61 shots thus far this season.
Nov 7 - 12:14 AM

Jeff Zatkoff will start for the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday.

This is just Zatkoff's second game of the season. His first contest was on Oct. 29 when he turned aside 50 of 53 shots in a 4-3 victory over Buffalo.
Nov 6 - 3:40 PM

Jeff Zatkoff had a sensational game against Buffalo on Thursday night, making 50 saves on 53 shots to earn the Penguins a 4-3 victory.

Zatkoff shined in his first start since spending the majority of last season in the AHL. The 28-year-old managed a .910 save percentage and 2.45 goals against average for Wilkes-Barre in 2014-15, and would be a good value play in daily fantasy leagues the next time Marc-Andre Fleury gets a night off.
Oct 29 - 10:08 PM

Jeff Zatkoff will get his first start of the 2015-16 campaign on Thursday.

Marc-Andre Fleury has gotten off to a superb start this season, but Pittsburgh also played on Wednesday, so it makes sense to give him a breather. Zatkoff had a 2.45 GAA and .910 save percentage in 37 AHL contests in 2014-15.
Oct 29 - 12:29 PM

Jeff Zatkoff has been sent to the minors.

Zatkoff has been serving as Marc-Andre Fleury's understudy while Thomas Greiss battled the mumps. This move presumably means that Greiss is ready to return to the Penguins' lineup.

The Pittsburgh Penguins recalled Jeff Zatkoff from the minors.

Zatkoff backed up Marc-Andre Fleury as the usual backup Thomas Greiss is out with the mumps. Both Penguin goalies have been tested for the mumps with Fleury's results coming back negative. Zatkoff will remain until Greiss is able to return.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have returned Jeff Zatkoff to the minors.

The netminder was recalled when the Penguins were unsure as to whether or not Thomas Greiss had the mumps. When it was determined that Greiss was mumps-free, he was able to practice on Friday enabling the Penguins to return Zatkoff to the Baby Pens.

Pittsburgh has summoned Jeff Zatkoff from the minors.

Marc-Andre Fleury is being tested for the mumps, so Zatkoff will join the big club as a precaution. He could back up Thomas Greiss on Thursday if Fleury is unable to play.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have place Jeff Zatkoff on waivers.

The move was needed to send Zatkoff to the minors and it is expected that Zatkoff will pass by the noon Sunday deadline. Zatkoff was a longer shot to stick this season after spending last season as Marc-Andre Fleury's back up as the Penguins inked Thomas Greiss to a contract during the off-season. Nevertheless, Zatkoff was strong last season with a 12-6-2 record to go with a 2.61 GAA and a .912 save percentage. He will be recalled if there is an injury to the Penguins goaltending duo.

Jeff Zatkoff and Thomas Greiss will split the net on Monday against the Minnesota Wild.

Both are looking to be the backup netminder behind Marc-Andre Fleury and they are now getting down to the nitty-gritty. Look for Zatkoff to be sent to the minors if the Penguins decide to start the season with two goaltenders.
Sun, Sep 28, 2014 10:55:00 AM

Jeff Zatkoff will have to contend with free agent signing Thomas Greiss for Pittsburgh's backup goalie job.

Zatkoff posted a 12-6-2 record with a 2.61 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage last year as Marc-Andre Fleury's understudy. He earned a two-year, one-way contract worth $1.2 million, but that came long before GM Jim Rutherford took over and Greiss was brought on board. Greiss has appeared in 69 NHL contests, which eclipses Zatkoff's total of 20 from a year ago. Zatkoff is ready to battle for his spot, but the odds don't appear to be in his favor.
