Jeff Zatkoff and the Penguins know that their work is far from finished.

That might seem obvious, but outside of the Penguins, there are some looking at Pittsburgh's championship with a certain degree of inevitability. Pittsburgh has yet to trail in the Stanley Cup Final and teams that take a 3-1 series lead in the Stanley Cup Final are 31-1 and perfect since the conclusion of World War II. But while the Penguins' victory is now highly probable, things can change quickly.

It'll be Matt Murray and not Jeff Zatkoff in net for the Penguins in Tuesday's Game 3 against the Rangers.

Zatkoff turned away 59 of 65 shots through the first two games of the series, which includes stealing the Game 1 victory. He'll be Murray's backup until otherwise noted.
Apr 19 - 6:38 PM

Jeff Zatkoff could be in goal again for the Penguins on Tuesday night in Game 3.

He started the first two games of the series and was excellent in Game 1. Zatkoff struggled in Game 2 though when he allowed four goals on 28 shots. He was the first goaltender off the ice at the morning skate even though Matt Murray was in the starter's crease for the session. It hasn't been confirmed yet who will start, but it seems probable that Zatkoff will get the nod.
Apr 19 - 12:36 PM

Jeff Zatkoff allowed four goals on 28 shots in Pittsburgh's 4-2 loss to the Rangers on Saturday.

Zatkoff kept the Rangers off the scoresheet in the first period, but he had a tougher time in the second, as New York scored three goals in the middle frame. Starter Marc-Andre Fleury was a game-time decision for this game before being ruled out. It's unclear if he'll be able to make an appearance in Game 3. If he can't go, Zatkoff will be forced to make his third straight start. Zatkoff has a 1-1 record with a 3.07 goals-against-average and a .908 save percentage this postseason.
Apr 16 - 6:48 PM

Jeff Zatkoff will get the start in Saturday's game against the New York Rangers.

Marc-Andre Fleury (concussion) still isn't ready to return to action, which means that Zatkoff gets to make his second straight playoff start. Zatkoff stopped 35 of 37 shots in Pittsburgh's win in Game 1.
Apr 16 - 2:45 PM

Jeff Zatkoff will get the start on Saturday for the Penguins if Marc-Andre Fleury is unable to go again.

Zatkoff started Game 1 after not starting at all since February 20 and was stellar as he stopped 35 of 37 Rangers shots in a 5-2 win. "Aw, that was awesome," Fleury said of Zatkoff's performance. "Very happy for him. He's such a great teammate. He has been all year." Stay tuned as Fleury has been out with a concussion since the beginning of April.
Apr 16 - 8:38 AM

Jeff Zatkoff played extremely well in Pittsburgh's first game of the 2016 playoffs Wednesday night, while filling in for injured netminder Marc-Andre Fleury.

Zatkoff stopped 35 of the Rangers' 37 shots in a 5-2 victory. Only Derek Stepan could beat Zatkoff, as he scored both New York goals. Zatkoff got the start after it was determined that Fleury didn't overcome his concussion symptoms. Fleury missed his sixth consecutive game. After Zatkoff's performance Wednesday, the Pens may not be in any hurry to bring Fleury back for Game 2 on Saturday.
Apr 14 - 12:03 AM

Just to confirm, Jeff Zatkoff will be the Pittsburgh Penguins' starter in Game 1.

That seemed logical given that Marc-Andre Fleury (concussion) wasn't out with the Penguins for the pregame warmup, but now it seems to be decided. Tristan Jarry will serve as the team's backup.
Apr 13 - 7:43 PM

It looks like Jeff Zatkoff will start for Pittsburgh in Game 1.

This is far from the Penguins' ideal, but with Marc-Andre Fleury (concussion) and Matt Murray (head) still sidelined, they'll need to put their faith in Zatkoff. He had a 2.79 GAA and .917 save percentage in 14 regular season games.
Apr 13 - 7:39 PM

Jeff Zatkoff took Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Flyers in relief of Matt Murray.

Zatkoff turned away 22 of 24 shots, including all five on the kill during his 42:06 of play. The loss drops his record to 4-7-1 with a .917 save percentage and a 2.79 GAA.
Apr 9 - 7:21 PM

Jeff Zatkoff will be a healthy scratch in Thursday's game against the Penguins.

Pittsburgh has gone with Marc-Andre Fleury and top prospect Matt Murray as their no. 1 and no. 2 goaltenders over the last few weeks. Zatkoff will continue watching from the sidelines unless one of those two gets hurt. Brian Dumoulin, Olli Maatta and Bryan Rust will miss the game because of injury.

Mar 31 - 7:09 PM

With Matt Murray being recalled from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, it appears that Jeff Zatkoff could be on his way out of Pittsburgh.

Zatkoff has provided decent backup coverage for the Penguins over the last three seasons. Over 29 starts and 34 games, he's posted a 16-13-3 record with a 2.66 GAA and a .915 save percentage. As for who could be interested in the 28-year-old netminder, we're still unclear but he is an UFA at the end of the season making just $600K.
Feb 27 - 7:22 PM

Jeff Zatkoff allowed four goals on 20 shots in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Zatkoff was thrown into the fire at the last minute, as Marc-Andre Fleury (illness) was ruled out just minutes before the start of the game. Zatkoff has a 4-6-1 record with a 2.78 goals-against-average and a .917 save percentage this season. The Penguins have yet to name a starter for tomorrow's game against the Sabres.
Feb 20 - 4:24 PM

Updating a previous item, Jeff Zatkoff will get the start in Saturday afternoon's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Penguins announced that Marc-Andre Fleury would start this game, but they've decided to make a last-minute change. Puck drop is scheduled for 12:30 pm ET, so make sure you adjust your fantasy lineups accordingly. The 28-year-old has a 4-5-1 record with a 2.65 goals-against-average and a .923 save percentage this season.
