Bud Holloway has been returned to AHL St. John's following his first career NHL game.
Holloway's in the books forever, if nothing else. He's posted 20 points in 18 games for AHL St. John's so they'll be happy to have him back as well. Sat, Nov 28, 2015 07:59:00 PM

Bud Holloway is expected to make his NHL debut on Friday.

It's been a long road for Holloway, who is breaking into the NHL at the age of 27. He was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings, but after three campaigns in their minor league system, he went Sweden. He's spent four seasons excelling in Europe before he decided to try to make it with the Montreal Canadiens. He has five goals and 20 points in 18 contests with the St. John's IceCaps this season.

Bud Holloway was informed by Coach Therrien that he plans to get Holloway into his first NHL game this week to reward his work ethic and AHL play.

Holloway has five goals and 20 points through 18 games for St. John's this season, and has apparently impressed the stingy bench boss of late. With Alex Semin now on IR, and the Habs playing a home-and-home series with New Jersey on Friday and Saturday, this is a prime opportunity for the 27-year-old to make his dreams come true and earn a regular NHL ticket.

Bud Holloway and Jarred Tinordi will each be scratched form Sunday's match with the Islanders.

Since being drafted 86th overall in 2006, Holloway has yet to make his NHL debut. Which must be frustrating as he's once again above a point-per-game pace in the AHL with 20 points in 18 games. But he certainly won't complain about the extra digit or two on his per diem checks. Tinordi, remarkably, has yet to play a game for Montreal thus far.

The Montreal Canadiens recalled Bud Holloway from the minors.

Holloway was summoned from the minors because of an injury to Devante Smith-Pelly. The 27-year-old was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the third round of the 2006 draft, but was signed by Montreal after he spent last season in the Swiss League. He has five goals and 20 points in 18 games.

The Los Angeles Kings are still negotiating with prospect Bud Holloway.

"Yeah, we're still plugging away. . .It's like a lot of kids - he's a good prospect," GM Dean Lombardi said of Holloway who had 20 goals and 51 assists in 55 games with Skelleftea of the SEL last season. "I guess it's safe to say, him going over there, are the reports on him were all very good. He's played in the minors. But, until he gets on the NHL rink and you go through the ups and downs then you don't know for sure. But, it's fair to say that given what he did over in Europe, and again it's not an NHL playing field, that this is certainly a guy that is a good prospect. I think if he wants to be an NHL player, which I think certainly most of these kids do, particularly a Canadian kid like this, it makes a lot of sense. So, let's get over here and give it another shot. He's more mature. He's a better player. It's just a good prospect."

Bud Holloway is reportedly close to signing with the Los Angeles Kings.

Holloway was originally drafted by the Kings in 2006, but he could never crack the team's lineup. He ended up signing with Skelleftea HC of the Swedish Elite League and excelling in Europe. He had 20 goals and 71 points in 55 SEL games last season.
