Kaspars Daugavins skated on Boston's third line at practice Tuesday.

Coach Claude Julien was quick to say that the lines he used in the session are not necessarily ones he will use in Game 1 against Toronto Wednesday night. Still it was interesting that Daugavins was with Chris Kelly and Jaromir Jagr, while Rich Peverley joined Jay Pandolfo and Carl Soderberg on the Bruins' fifth line. Daugavins said he is ready to play if he gets the call.

Kaspars Daugavins may make his Boston debut Tuesday night.

If he does play then it will be against his former team, as the Bruins are set to host the Ottawa Senators. Daugavins, who was claimed off waivers from the Senators last week, hasn't been eligible to play while finalizing his work visa.
Apr 2 - 7:42 AM

The Boston Bruins have claimed Kaspars Daugavins off waivers from Ottawa.

He produced one goal and two assists in 19 games for the Senators, but made waves for his unique shootout attempt against the Bruins on March 11. Boston must've been impressed with the move because they picked him up off waivers. Daugavins' only goal this season also came versus the Bruins on March 21 and he picked up an assist against them as well. He was practicing with Ottawa Wednesday, so he won't join the team in time for Wednesday's match-up with Montreal.

Ottawa Senators place Kaspars Daugavins on waivers.

Daugavins has one goal and three points this season, but you may remember him for his creative shootout attempt on March 13 that was the talk of the league. A team looking for depth and shootout help could put in a claim on him. If Daugavins goes unclaimed, he'll like be assigned to AHL Binghamton.
Mar 26 - 12:27 PM

Ottawa's Kaspars Daugavins scored his first goal of the season Thursday, but it wasn't enough as the Senators dropped a 2-1 decision to Boston.

The goal was the lone marker for the Sens on the night and was assisted by Mika Zibanejad and Sergei Gonchar. The goal is the sixth for Daugavins in his short career.
Mar 22 - 1:20 AM

Kaspars Daugavins' creative shootout attempt was a popular topic of discussion Tuesday.

He placed the tip of his stick blade on top of the puck and skated toward Boston goaltender Tuukka Rask Monday night. When he reached the crease he did a full spin-o-rama, but failed to slide the puck between the post and Rask's pad. Boston scored on their next shot to win the shootout. Most people though the move was great, but there were others who weren't impressed. "Nobody has done it before, so somebody will talk about it. Obviously, there's going to be somebody that doesn't like it," said Daugavins. "The way I came up with it was watching guys in Europe and guys spinning around. There was some talk about it being illegal, but spin-o-rama's are allowed and the puck is under my stick as I spin with it."

Kaspar Daugavins was able to play against the Ducks Saturday afternoon.

He had injured his leg in Thursday's contest and his status for Saturday's contest was in doubt. Of course, Daugavins' fantasy value is limited as he played only 6:57, much of it while the Sens' were shorthanded.
