It will be interesting to see if the Flyers will be able to sign Wayne Simmonds to a long-term contract.
Simmonds has one more year on his current contract at $3.975 million per season and it will be challenge for the Flyers to re-sign him given the deal Evander Kane inked with the Sharks last month. Kane, a comparable player to Simmonds, agreed to a seven-year, $49 million deal. Of course, Simmonds can help himself by rebounding from an injury-plagued and disappointing season in which he registered 46 points in 75 games. Jun 9 - 10:24 AM

Wayne Simmonds is recovering well from pelvis surgery.

Simmonds is expected to be ready for training camp and Flyers GM Ron Hextall doesn't expect him to be limited at all. He is slated to be available to skate later in the summer. Simmonds played through with a torn pelvis for the entire 2017-18 campaign.

As previously reported that Wayne Simmonds played through 2017-18 with a torn pelvis, but that was just the tip of the ice berg.

Simmonds also suffered a fractured ankle, pulled groin, two mouth injuries, and a torn ligament in his thumb. Out of all of those issues, only the torn ligament in his thumb removed him from the lineup and even then, he still played through 75 regular season games and the Flyers' six playoff contests. All we can say is: Wow. He did see his production dip in 2017-18, but that's hardly surprising given all he had to endure. If he can stay healthy next season then he should bounce back.

Wayne Simmonds spent the 2017-18 campaign playing through a torn pelvis.

Simmonds had the issue since training camp, but still went on to play in 75 regular season games and another six playoff contests. That's remarkable under the circumstances, but he felt that he "didn’t play up to expectations" this season. He had 24 goals, 46 points, 57 penalty minutes, and a minus-16 rating in 75 games. He had over 30 goals and 100 penalty minutes in each of his previous two campaigns and perhaps he'll get back to that level in 2018-19 if he stays healthy.

The kid’s a great player and he deserves everything he’s getting." Simmonds will play alongside Travis Konecny and Oskar Lindblom with Ivan Provorov and Travis Sanheim on the points as the Flyers meet Pittsburgh in the battle of Pennsylvania in the first round of the playoffs.
