Claude Julien discussed the possibility of David Schlemko returning to practice on Monday with his Canadiens teammates.
Schlemko has been sidelined due to a hand injury and it has costed him valuable practice time with his new teammates so far. When he returns, don't be surprised to see Claude Julien give him some time alongside Shea Weber. Schlemko excels at moving the puck up the ice and the Canadiens would like to see how that translates to Weber's shutdown style. Regardless, Schlemko likely won't return any fantasy value this season. Sep 23 - 5:24 PM

The good news is that David Schlemko is skating again.

The bad news is that his hand injury isn't fully healed and he is not ready to return to practice. "He is skating, which is great", said Montreal head coach Claude Julien. "I think they just wanted to make sure that his hand heals and heals properly. The last thing you want to do is rush him back and all of a sudden it flares up again and you got another issue there where you set him back for an other week or so. To my understanding, there’s a real good chance you’ll see him in some pre-season games before it starts. I guess that can be some news that I can share with you guys."

David Schlemko (hand) didn't practice on Saturday morning.

The Canadiens have already said that he's day-to-day. This is a big training camp for him, as he might have an opportunity to play on the same pairing as Shea Weber this season. The veteran is capable of moving the puck efficiently, but no matter who he plays with, he won't have value in standard fantasy leagues.

The Montreal Canadiens have acquired David Schlemko from the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for a 2019 fifth-round draft pick.

Vegas got Schlemko from San Jose in the expansion draft. The Golden Knights selected a lot of defensemen in the draft and they're now in the process of flipping some of them. Schlemko had two goals and 18 points in 62 contests while averaging 16:45 minutes last season. He's completed the first season of his four-year, $8.4 million contract.

David Schlemko (lower body) is poised to return to the lineup on Monday night.

He has sat out the last eight games with a lower-body injury. "It's always frustrating when you're watching hockey," Schlemko said. "We've got the last 11 games here before the playoffs and we didn't want to rush it to the point where it becomes a nagging thing with important games coming up. Feeling good now and excited to get back tonight."
Mar 20 - 4:07 PM

David Schlemko (lower body) is still not ready to play as the Sharks take on the Ducks on Saturday.

Mar 14 - 1:50 PM

David Schlemko did not practice on Friday as he has been out of the lineup since March 2 with a lower body injury.

Mar 4 - 4:24 PM

David Schlemko left San Jose's game against Vancouver on Thursday after one period with an undisclosed injury.

According to Kevin Kurz of CSN BayArea, Schlemko tried to come out for the second period but decided he couldn't go. "He tried it, which is a good sign," head coach Pete Deboer said after the game. "He had the ability to get out there and thought he might be able to come back. He didn't obviously so we'll see how he is tomorrow." The Sharks play Minnesota on Sunday night.
Mar 3 - 3:01 AM

David Schlemko provided the OTGWG as the San Jose Sharks managed a 3-2 overtime win against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday.

It was Schlemko's first OT game-winner in the NHL and the fourth GWG of his career. This marks his second tally and 10th point of 2016-17, breaking a seven-game pointless slump. That game featured all rare-scorers (the top scorer hit his fifth goal of the season), so Schlemko seems like an inspired choice to make the difference.
