He isn't expected to play Thursday, but could dress at some point during his big-league call up. Fortunus just signed an NHL deal with Dallas on Wednesday.

Fortunus had previously been playing on an AHL contract. He has three goals and 16 points in 24 games with the Texas Stars this season. TSN's Bob McKenzie reports that Dallas has also placed the 30-year-old forward on waivers.

Maxime Fortunus has agreed to a two-year deal with the AHL Texas Stars.

It's an AHL contract, so he's obviously not expected to play in the NHL. He had seven goals and 28 points in 67 contests with Texas in 2012-13.

Maxime Fortunus has inked a one-year, two-way contract extension with the Dallas Stars.

Fortunus has only played in eight NHL games and he'll turn 29 on July 28. He'll provide the Stars with some organization depth, but he's not expected to get any playing time at the NHL level in 2012-13.

Fortunus has no points, four penalty minutes, and a minus-six rating in eight games with Dallas. He's 27 years old so at this point, he should be regarded as a career depth defenseman.

No terms were announced. He made his NHL debut last season. playing eight games for the Stars without scoring. He should spend the season in the minors.

Maxime Fortunus has been called up from the minors.

It is unclear if he will suit up right away for the Stars, or serve as a depth defender with the recent injury to Nicklas Grossman (lower body). If Fortunus does end up dressing it will likely come at the expense of Matt Niskanen or Jeff Woywitka, who could serve as healthy scratches.

Maxime Fortunus has been recalled by the Stars.

He is expected to make his NHL debut on Saturday night against the injury-riddled Detroit Red Wings. Fortunus was called up by Dallas roughly a month ago, but did not play. However, now that Trevor Daley (shoulder) and Mark Fistric (concussion) are sidelined he will get his chance.
