Patrick Maroon will have a hearing for his hit on Drew Doughty during yesterday's 5-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings.

Doughty never had the puck but that didn't stop Maroon from putting his shoulder right into Doughty's face, leaving the Kings' defenseman on the ice for a couple of minutes. Maroon received a match penalty and will likely face a one or two game suspension.

Maroon got there by registering an assist in the Oilers' 3-2 win over St. Louis on Thursday. He's currently on pace to record 47 points, which would be a new career-high for him after he scored 27 goals and 42 points in 81 contests last season.

Patrick Maroon found the back of the net and registered an assist in Edmonton's 5-3 loss to San Jose.

Maroon snapped his four-game scoring drought. He's up to nine goals and 19 points in 34 contests in 2017-18. It wouldn't be surprising to see him finish around the 40-point milestone for the second straight campaign.

Patrick Maroon registered an assist in the Flyers' 4-2 loss to Edmonton on Wednesday.

Maroon has eight goals and 16 points in 28 games in 2017-18. That puts him on pace for about 47 points, which would be a modest step up from his performance last season. He might not be able to quite maintain his current pace, but he should reach the 20-goal and 40-point milestones as long as he stays healthy.

Patrick Maroon scored a goal in a 5-2 loss to the Washington Capitals on Saturday night.

Holtby left a juicy rebound off a McDavid chance and Maroon was in the perfect spot to bury his fourth goal of the season. He is now up to eight points in 10 games this season. Any player riding McDavid's wing is well worth picking up in fantasy leagues. Considering Maroon brings a blend of goals and penalty minutes, he should be owned in more than just 56% of yahoo leagues.

Patrick Maroon registered an assist in the Oilers' 5-2 loss to Winnipeg on Monday.

Maroon has recorded an assist in each of his first three games this season. He was more of a goal scorer in 2016-17 as they accounted for 27 of his 42 points. His goals-to-assists ratio might be more balanced this season, but he should still be looked at as more of a goal scorer despite his start.

The Edmonton Oilers and Patrick Maroon may be in contract talks.

This is a tough one as Maroon had 27 goals last season but he was playing with Connor McDavid for a lengthy stretch of the season and that was definitely a contributing factor. The forward is quite valuable in fantasy hockey as he combines his goal scoring and points with plenty of penalty minutes. If he plays with McDavid and/or Leon Draisaitl, Maroon is in for a big fantasy season. He should be drafted in the middle rounds in leagues that use the penalty minute category.

Patrick Maroon admits that playing with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl helped him quite a bit last year.

"Obviously without those two I wouldn't have the success I did, but sometimes you've got to give yourself some credit too," Maroon said. "Those two are very tremendous players, and for me I've just got to keep doing what I'm doing to stay with them. Obviously [Oilers coach] Todd McLellan had a really big part in that. He gave me an opportunity to play with those two. For me, I've just got to continue what I did last year, come [to training camp] in really good shape again, and hopefully good things fall into place again." Maroon scored 27 goals and 42 points in 81 games last season. His production could be in for a steep decline this year if he doesn't get to play with McDavid or Draisaitl.
