Coach Bruce Boudreau enjoys putting Pat Maroon on the fourth line because of his size and toughness.
Boudreau likes playing Maroon with Nate Thompson and Tim Jackman as the trio gives the Ducks a very good fourth unit. "They’re a hard line to play against," Boudreau said. "And when they’re skating, they make it difficult. When they’re on and they’re pinning teams in the other zone, it really adds to the next line that comes on. I think it’s vitally important that you have four lines that can play. We’ve been lucky the last couple of years." While Maroon has far more fantasy value when a top-six forward, this could be the best thing for the Ducks as a team. Dec 21 - 6:25 AM

Patrick Maroon had a goal and an assist in Thursday's 5-4 shootout win over Philadelphia.

Maroon has recorded a point in three of the Ducks' last four contests. With two goals and 10 assists in 19 games, he's well on his way to comfortably surpassing his 2013-14 total of 29 points.
Dec 4 - 8:44 AM

Patrick Maroon scored a goal and an assist in Anaheim’s 2-1 win over Arizona.

The goal was Maroon’s first of the season. The 26-year-old picked up a rebound in front of the net and buried it by Coyotes’ goaltender Mike Smith. Maroon also picked up an assist on Kyle Palmieri’s first period goal. He now has eight points in 14 games this season. He doesn’t have much (if any) fantasy value. Ryan Kesler assisted on both Anaheim goals in the game.

Patrick Maroon (knee) was activated from the injured reserved list on Friday.

Maroon was back on the top line alongside Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf as coach Bruce Boudreau sat Dany Heatley. Maroon will be a nice combination of penalty minutes and some points and is worth picking up at this time if available in deeper pools.
Nov 1 - 1:51 AM

Patrick Maroon (knee) is being regarded as a game-time decision on Friday.

Maroon has missed eight straight contests. Before being sidelined, he had three assists in three games this season.
Oct 31 - 4:57 PM

Patrick Maroon (knee) might be ahead of schedule, according to Andy Strickland.

Maroon told Strickland that he could be ready to play as soon as Friday's game in Dallas. If he isn't available for that contest then he should play in Sunday's match against Colorado. Maroon was projected to miss four weeks with a sprained MCL, but he's missed just over two. Stay tuned.
Oct 30 - 4:42 PM

Patrick Maroon (knee) will be out of action for four weeks.

The Ducks announced Thursday that the winger has a sprained MCL. Maroon had been playing on Anaheim's top line with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. He had three assists in three games.
Oct 16 - 2:24 PM

Patrick Maroon (leg/knee) has been placed on injured reserve by the Ducks.

He opened the season with an assist in each game, but he was injured during Monday's game versus Buffalo.
Oct 15 - 4:02 PM

Patrick Maroon's lower-body injury is related to his leg.

Maroon sustained the injury on Monday and was kept out of Tuesday's game as a result. He needs to undergo further tests, but for now he's wearing a brace to keep his leg immobilized.
Oct 15 - 5:16 AM

Patrick Maroon (lower body) will be kept out of the Ducks' lineup on Tuesday.

Beyond that, Maroon's status remains unclear. The Ducks don't think this he suffered a torn ACL or something that will end his seasoon, but they are still looking into his condition. He suffered the injury when he was hit into the boards by Josh Gorges during Monday's game.
Oct 13 - 6:31 PM

Patrick Maroon left Monday's game due to a lower-body injury.

Maroon needed help getting off the ice after he was slammed into the boards due to a hit from Josh Gorges. It looked like it might be a knee injury, but the Ducks haven't confirmed that.
Oct 13 - 4:41 PM

Patrick Maroon is practicing alongside Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry.

Maroon is filling in for Dany Heatley, who is out with a groin injury. This situation is worth watching closely because there's no timetable for Heatley's return beyond the assertion that he'll miss at least a week and his presence on the top line wasn't set in stone to begin with. If Maroon gels with Getzlaf and Perry, then he might simply stick with them even once Heatley returns.
Sep 29 - 3:24 PM

Patrick Maroon and the Anaheim Ducks have reached an agreement on a three-year, $6 million contract extension.

Maroon is scheduled to make $1.15 million in the final year of his current deal, but has now tacked three more seasons onto that pact, keeping him in Anaheim through the 2017-18 season. The winger amassed 29 points and 101 penalty minutes in 62 games last year.
Aug 2 - 2:38 PM

Patrick Maroon and the Anaheim Ducks are reportedly making progress towards a contract extension.

Maroon has a season left on his two-year, $1.15 million contract. He should get a significant raise after recording 11 goals, 18 assists, and 101 penalty minutes in 62 games last season.
Aug 1 - 9:12 PM

Kyle Clifford led the 2014 playoffs with 39 PIM, but Patrick Maroon was second with 38 despite playing 11 fewer games.

The Anaheim Ducks power forward also had 101 PIM during the regular season, certainly worth noting since he also scored 11 goals and 29 points in that 62-game span. He could be a nice lower-tier PIM option in that he's showing potential to produce decent points.
