Patrick Maroon is showing signs of life in what has largely been a miserable season for him.

Maroon was limited to five points in his first 39 games, but he's registered an assist in each of his last two contests. Maroon often played alongside Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry last season, but he's been bounced around a lot in 2015-16 and that hasn't benefited him, to say the very least. He's playing with Corey Perry and Rickard Rakell now though and that might work out for him. "The opportunity came to me and I just can’t look back now," Maroon said. "I got to start playing good. There’s time running out now. We need to make a push to playoffs and I need to step up. My game hasn’t been as effective as it was last year. And certainly not – I hate bringing up playoffs – but definitely not [like the] playoffs. But for me, I just got keep staying positive."

Korbinian Holzer will join Patrick Maroon as healthy scratches when the Anaheim Ducks host the visiting Ottawa Senators

This will make consecutive scratches for Maroon, who has scored only once in 36 games, averaging 11 minutes per game. This is also Holzer's second consecutive scratch and has only appeared in 15 games averaging 14:48 per game.

Patrick Maroon and Korbinian Holzer will be scratched Sunday against Detroit.

Of the two, only Maroon has managed to amass a modicum of fantasy value. He has five points, 33 PIMs, and 73 hits through 36 games this season. An unfortunate far cry from what was expected of him coming in.

Patrick Maroon practiced on the top line Friday.

The winger has played previously with Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf, so it was no surprise that coach Bruce Boudreau tried the troika again. If Maroon can stick his fantasy value will skyrocket.

Patrick Maroon was scratched again Sunday against the Penguins on Sunday.

This will be Maroon's third straight game in the stands as a healthy scratch, and it's easy to see why. After setting career highs each of the past two seasons in points, Maroon's managed just four points along with 20 PIMs and 43 hits in 24 games thus far.

Patrick Maroon has no goals and just one assist in seven games this season.

Maroon set a new career-high in 2014-15 with 34 points. He's far from the only Ducks player that's off to a cold start and like the team as a whole, he should improve as the campaign goes on. A best case scenario for him this season would only be about 40 points though.

Patrick Maroon made a dent in the scoreboard on Friday night, scoring the eventual winning goal in Anaheim's 2-1 win over Los Angeles.

Much is expected of Maroon following a disappointing 2014-15, despite setting a new career high in games played (71), assists (25), and points (34). The 27-year-old got off to a fine start this pre-season, tipping home a Jayson Megna shot for his first of the warm up games.

Patrick Maroon scored his seventh goal of the playoffs in the Anaheim Ducks' 5-2 loss to the Blackhawks in Chicago Wednesday night.

The Western Conference Final is now tied at 3-3, with the seventh and deciding game to be played in Anaheim Saturday night. Maroon has contributed 10 points in 15 playoff games for the Ducks. Anaheim's other goal Wednesday was produced by Clayton Stoner, his first of the post-season. The Ducks never led in this one and were down by as much as 3-0 in the second period.

Patrick Maroon buried his sixth goal of the playoffs on Monday night in Game 5 of the Western Conference Final.

He gave the Ducks a 4-2 lead late in the third period, but Chicago stormed back to send the game into overtime with two goals in the final two minutes of regulation. Patrick Maroon found the back of the net in the Ducks' 2-1 victory on Thursday.

It was Maroon's first goal of the Western Conference Final and fifth marker of the playoffs. He now has eight points in 12 postseason games. Maroon also registered four hits in 14:41 minutes of ice time Thursday night.

The Anaheim Ducks will need to use their size advantage over the Chicago Blackhawks in the Western Conference Final.

The Ducks have 12 players who weigh over 210 pounds while Chicago has a couple of players who weigh that much. That gives the Ducks a big advantage and they will try to use that in all the battles in the corners and all over the ice. Patrick Maroon is one such player who will not be afraid to throw his weight around.

Patrick Maroon has now scored in three of his last four games.

The goal was of the empty-net variety, but it counts just the same. Maroon led all skaters with six shots, and added a pair of hits during his 18:54 of work in Friday's 4-2 Game Four win over Calgary. He now has four goals and six points in eight games this postseason.

Patrick Maroon notched his third goal of the postseason in Game 3 versus Calgary.

He has produced five points in seven contests during the playoffs. Maroon tied the game at 1-1 after the Flames jumped out to an early 1-0 lead. Calgary ended up rallying to record a 4-3 overtime victory.

Patrick Maroon is seeing plenty of ice time on the first line.

Maroon has been playing alongside Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry and that has to be one of the best gigs in the NHL. "Here’s a big guy a lot of people would argue isn’t the greatest skater in the world, but he’s got really good hands for a big guy," Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau said. "He knows how to play offensively and he can play the physical part, and he sticks up for his teammates. When you’ve only been in this league for a little over two years, the consistency isn’t always there. That’s the only thing that’s plagued him during the course of the year. When he’s on top of his game, he’s a force for us. He’s back on that line because he has been consistent of late. There’s been no letdown in his game." Maroon has two goals and four points in five playoff games this season.
