May 1 - 9:39 AM

Patrick Maroon scored the game-winning goal in Friday's 2-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks.

Not many people predicted the Oilers would take the first two games of the series in Anaheim, but that's exactly what they've done. With Edmonton on the power play in second period, Jordan Eberle's pass went off Maroon's skate before hitting Ducks goalie John Gibson and falling into the net. The power play goal gave the Oilers a 2-0 lead at the time, and they never looked back. Maroon finished the game with a plus-1 rating, four shots on goal and two hits in 17:16 of ice time. He's up to two goals and two assists in eight games during the postseason. The Oilers are now headed back home with a strong grip on the series.
Apr 29 - 1:30 AM

Patrick Maroon registered two assists in Edmonton's 5-3 win against Anaheim in Game 1 Wednesday night.

Maroon was relatively quiet in the first round with a goal and no assists in six games. He was a significant secondary scorer for Edmonton during the regular season, so it's important to Edmonton that he starts chipping in offensively on a more often.
Apr 27 - 10:55 AM

Patrick Maroon found the back of the net in Edmonton's 4-3 overtime win over San Jose in Game 5 on Thursday.

That was Maroon's first goal and point of the 2017 playoffs. He has 10 goals and 19 points in 34 career postseason games.
Apr 21 - 10:29 AM

Patrick Maroon made four shots on goal against the Sharks Tuesday night, but none of them found the back of the net as the Oilers lost 7-0.

Maroon spent seven minutes in the sin bin, but only two of them were for his own penalty. He served Leon Draisaitl five-minute major for spearing Chris Tierney in the groin and then drew his own penalty almost immediately after returning to the ice. This lack of discipline defined the Oilers game Tuesday night. In total, the Oilers had 28 minutes of penalty compared to the Sharks’ eight.
Apr 19 - 1:01 AM

Patrick Maroon will be rested on Sunday against the Canucks.

It's been a banner year for the power forward, who has scored 27 goals and 42 points plus 142 hits in 81 games.
Apr 9 - 8:41 PM

Patrick Maroon scored twice in the Oilers 3-2 win over San Jose on Thursday.

Maroon was credited with the game winner, tipping in a Kris Russell shot in third period. Earlier in the game he tapped in a beautiful setup from Connor McDavid. He snapped a three game pointless streak with the goals. He's up to 27 goals now on the season.
Mar 31 - 12:35 AM

Patrick Maroon has seven points in his last five games.

Maroon registered a pair of assists on Wednesday, giving him 25 goals and 39 points in 73 contests in 2016-17. This campaign already represents a career-high for him in points as his previous best was in 2014-15 when he finished with 34. His mixture of grit and skill has been a big boost to the Oilers this season and a contributing factor to Edmonton finally moving from being a rebuilding squad to a competitive one.
Mar 23 - 10:28 AM

Patrick Maroon is tied for first in goals and is first in fights with Edmonton.

Maroon has 25 goals and nine fights respectively with Edmonton. He's always been a tough player, but his ability to find the back of the net at that pace is new to this season. Prior to 2016-17, his career-high in goals was the 12 he scored last season. He's becoming more selective when it comes to dropping the gloves though and he might have to trend further in that direction if he continues to develop into more of a skill player. "I probably have to slow down a little bit, my hands are starting to hurt," Maroon noted in reference to his fights. "Maybe hold off until April."
Mar 22 - 9:38 AM

Patrick Maroon scored at the 1:04 mark of the first and as it turned out that was all that was needed to beat the King 2-0 Monday night.

Maroon’s goal tied him for the team lead with Connor McDavid and lifted him one above Leon Draisaitl. Notably McDavid and Draisaitl provided assists on the goal. The pair also assisted on Milan Lucic’s 12:47 insurance goal.
Mar 20 - 11:52 PM

Patrick Maroon scored two goals in a 7-4 victory against Boston Thursday night.

Maroon doubtless wishes that the Oilers had more games against the Bruins as he's scored five goals in two games against them this season. He's also up to 24 goals and 36 points in 70 contests this season. His goal total is double his previous career-high, which was set in 2015-16.
Mar 17 - 9:30 AM

Patrick Maroon scored one goal and had one assist Tuesday night as the Oilers beat the Stars 7-1.

Maroon’s goal at the 11:29 mark of the second was the nail in the coffin for Antti Niemi and his assist in the third helped Connor McDavid take over the point lead for team. While Tuesday night’s points were memorable, they were only his second goal and fifth assist in his last dozen games.
Mar 14 - 11:49 PM

Patrick Maroon scored his 21st goal of the season Saturday.

It certainly does not hurt to be playing alongside Connor McDavid and Maroon has taken full advantage of that with 32 points in 65 games in addition to 75 penalty minutes and a plus=13 rating. He should be in someone's lineup at this time.
Mar 5 - 7:16 AM
