He has served as a healthy scratch for seven straight games prior to being placed on waivers. Bickel has played forward and defense this season, while picking up 49 penalty minutes in 16 appearances.
Mar 25 - 10:41 AM

Stu Bickel wasn't eager to comment on the Rangers' decision to put him on waivers.

"It is what it is," Bickel said. "It’s been tough for me to get an opportunity to play any minutes on the backend to develop some confidence." Bickel has been a healthy scratch since March 8th and has only averaged 5:31 minutes per game when he does play. If he gets claimed by a team that intends to use him consistently, then he'll have some limited fantasy value because of his tendency to accumulate an average of two or more penalty minutes per game.

With Michael Del Zotto doubtful Saturday due to a hip injury and Marc Staal suffering from the flu, Stu Bickel may draw back in against the Canadiens.

Feb 23 - 12:17 PM

Look for Stu Bickel to be a healthy scratch in Sunday's contest against the Washington Capitals.

Bickel can contribute a little bit in pools that have penalty minutes as a scoring category, but that's about it. Bickell is a natural defenseman but has also been playing on the fourth line when active.
Feb 17 - 9:55 AM

Stu Bickel has been serving as a forward lately, but might shift back to the blueline soon.

The Rangers have been without forwards Chris Kreider and Ryan Callahan sidelined, but both should return in the not too distant future. Bickel has gotten between 1:52 and 5:26 minutes per game as a forward over the last three games.

Stu Bickel will be in the Rangers linuep on Tuesday when they face the Flyers.

Look for Bickel to get into a fight tonight as the Rangers will sit Steve Eminger to get Bickel's toughness in the lineup. If your pool uses the penalty minute category, put Bickel in tonight.
Jan 29 - 11:49 AM

Stu Bickel may line up as a forward on the fourth line on Wednesday of Arron Asham can't play because of a mild groin strain.

The Rangers said Wednesday that Asham is "OK" but they didn't say whether or not he would play. "Playing forward or D? Obviously, I've got to be prepared to play both," said Bickel. "It doesn't really affect my mental preparation. I bring the same elements to the table either way. Obviously, naturally I'm a defenseman, that comes more naturally to me. But yeah, I just want to play."
Jan 23 - 3:05 PM

Tough guy defenseman Stu Bickel has re-signed with the Rangers for two-years and $1.5 million.

The physical rearguard will earn $750,000 for the next two campaigns while he keeps Ranger opponents honest around the likes of Brad Richards. Bickel is a fantasy asset in pools that have penalty minutes as a category.

Stu Bickel will in fact draw into the New York Rangers' lineup as a forward Monday night in Game 4 versus the New Jersey Devils.

Brandon Prust is serving his one-game suspension, and with Brandon Dubinsky (foot) still not ready to go, coach John Tortorella really has no choice but to insert Bickel in at forward, a position he's played a few times this season. Bickel will play on the fourth line with John Mitchell and Mike Rupp and shouldn't be expected to garner more than a handful of minutes. Steve Eminger remains in the lineup for the second straight game.
