The New York Rangers came to the conclusion that it was best to waive defenseman Stu Bickel on Sunday.
He was already marginalized in John Tortorella's system, so it's no surprise that Alain Vigneault decided that he wasn't worth having on the everyday roster. Injuries could force him in, though. Sun, Sep 29, 2013 05:16:00 PM

Stu Bickel wasn't eager to comment on the Rangers' decision to put him on waivers.

"It is what it is," Bickel said. "It’s been tough for me to get an opportunity to play any minutes on the backend to develop some confidence." Bickel has been a healthy scratch since March 8th and has only averaged 5:31 minutes per game when he does play. If he gets claimed by a team that intends to use him consistently, then he'll have some limited fantasy value because of his tendency to accumulate an average of two or more penalty minutes per game.
