Paul Szczechura was given Wednesday's practice off for maintenance, but he is projected to play on Thursday night.

Coach Lindy Ruff called the Sabres center "a little banged up," which is why he didn't have to participate in the session. Szczechura has one goal and three assists in eight games with Buffalo in 2011-12.

Paul Szczechura scored his first goal of the season in the Sabres' 3-2 loss to the Senators Tuesday.

Paul Szczechura is projected to center Buffalo's top line on Tuesday night against Ottawa.

He played between Thomas Vanek and Jason Pominville during Saturday's 4-1 loss to the New York Rangers. Szczechura was held scoreless in the contest, but he has collected three assists in three previous games with the Sabres this season. "We really need somebody that can make some plays in there, has some offensive talent and can be a little creative," coach Lindy Ruff said. "There wasn't a lot of other options, really. I liked the way that [Ville] Leino and Luke [Adam] and [Zack] Kassian have been playing, so it was really the only spot for him." We wouldn't expect this move to last, but it is an interesting lineup note heading into Tuesday's action.

Paul Szczechura, who was called up just hours before Friday's game, assisted on the Sabres' game-winning goal.

Szczechura was called up as a reinforcement because Ville Leino was serving a one-game suspension. Obviously, Leino will be available on Saturday, but Jochen Hecht and Corey Tropp sustained injuries during Friday's contest. With that in mind, we wouldn't be surprised if Szczechura is in the lineup Saturday.

Paul Szczechura has been returned to the minors.

He was called up for Tuesday's game after playing in Saturday's contest as well, but the Sabres don't play again until Friday and the move will save them cash on their salary cap. If Patrick Kaleta and Tyler Ennis aren't ready to return from their respective injuries by then, Szczechura could be in line for another recall.

Paul Szczechura was brought back up from the minors for Tuesday's match-up against the Islanders.

It marked his second straight appearance with the Sabres following his demotion to Rochester on Monday after suiting up on Saturday versus Washington. Patrick Kaleta wasn't ready to return from a groin injury, so Szczechura played in his place.

He filled in for an injured Drew Stafford in the contest. The points were his first in the NHL since March 25, 2010 when he scored two goals for Tampa Bay in a 5-3 win at Boston. Szczechura has seven points in nine games with Rochester in the AHL this campaign.
