Brett Sutter isn't making a big deal out of the fact that being with the Kings is providing him with an opportunity to play for his father.
Los Angeles acquired Sutter from Minnesota back in February, but he spent the rest of the 2015-16 campaign in the minors. Due to that, Monday's preseason game was the first time that Brett played for his father, Kings head coach Darryl Sutter, since the fourth grade. Still, that wasn't an emotional experience for Brett. "You know, I think the thing that makes it unique and cool is that there aren’t any of those moments," the younger Sutter said. "When I get to the rink, he’s giving me [grief] just like he is the other 40 guys here, and treating me just like every other player, and I think that’s kind of the coolest part. There’s that separation of when you leave the rink we’re family, but when you get here, it’s time to go to work, and I think that’s the part I respect the most about the whole thing. And the way the guys have treated the situation right from day one last year – I think that’s been the coolest thing. It’s been all business once we’re at the rink." Sep 30 - 10:57 AM

His tenure with the Reign produced more goals at five, but fewer points with seven. During regular season play, he has scored only two NHL goals with the most recent coming in the 2013-2014 season for the Carolina Hurricanes.

Brett Sutter has been called up by the Minnesota Wild.

Sutter has three assists in five games over the course of multiple stints with Minnesota in 2014-15. Even with that in mind though, the 27-year-old forward isn't expected to have much fantasy value going forward.

In five games with Minnesota, the 27 year old winger tallied three helpers and four PIMs while average just one nine minutes per night. His AHL season is little more prolific, with 15 points in 30 games. Needless to say, he has no fantasy value. However he does still remain as obscure Sutter-family trivia fodder.
