Nick Johnson was returned to Providence of the AHL Sunday.

He was called up to play in Saturday's game against Ottawa due to an injury to Carl Soderberg but was on the ice for only 7:06 in the Bruins' 4-3 loss. Johnson's demotion is not something those in fantasy pools should concern themselves with.

Nick Johnson has been called up from the minors.

He will fill in for the battered Bruins on Saturday night after Carl Soderberg was injured in Friday's win over Ottawa. Johnson was up with Boston before the Christmas break and he has no points in seven games this year.

The Boston Bruins have demoted Nick Johnson.

Johnson is 28 years old and has established himself as a top player at the AHL level. He's participated in 111 NHL contests too, but he doesn't do enough to make him worth owning in fantasy leagues.

Nick Johnson has been called up by the Boston Bruins.

Johnson has 11 goals and 20 points in 23 AHL games this season. If he's used at all, he will probably play on Boston's third or fourth line on Tuesday.

The Boston Bruins decided that Nick Johnson wasn't quite up to snuff for the 13th forward spot, waiving him on Sunday.

It looks like former first-rounder Jordan Caron edged Johnson for that last gig. Johnson showed flourishes in Boston's more dominating moments, but it looks like he'll remain a part-time NHL player and spend more time in the minors.

Nick Johnson and Jordan Caron are competing for Boston's 13th forward spot.

"It's a tough decision because there's three or four guys who had good camps," GM Peter Chiarelli said. "I know there are two guys who you've been focusing on, Johnson and Caron, and I think they both played well." Both players would need to clear waivers to be sent down to the minors.

Coach Claude Julien said that Nick Johnson is "in the mix" for a third-line spot with the team.

His leading competition for the position is believed to be Reilly Smith, who was acquired from Dallas as part of the Tyler Seguin trade. Jordan Caron hasn't received favorable reviews from onlookers at camp and Ryan Spooner is viewed as more of an option at center than on the wing. "You naturally want to think about it, but you can't," Johnson said. "Every day you've got to go hard. Every day could be your last. So that's the way it is and, if you can, you’ve got to embrace that for the season."

Nick Johnson may have inserted himself into the conversation for Boston's vacant third-line spot.

He scored two goals in the Bruins' preseason win against Montreal Monday night. It probably didn't hurt that Carl Soderberg, who is expected to play on the third unit, had an up-and-down performance. Still, it's too early to tell what will happen and decisions won't be swayed one way or the other based on one exhibition contest.

Nick Johnson has signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Bruins.

The winger played with the Coyotes last season, managing to get into 17 games (six points). In the AHL, he had nine points. He'll play in the AHL with the Bruins and provide depth to the parent club.

Johnson has nine points in 14 AHL games this season. He also has four goals and two assists in 17 contests with the Phoenix Coyotes in 2013.

The Phoenix Coyotes have placed Nick Johnson on waivers.

Johnson has four goals and six points in 17 games this season. He inked a one-year, two-way contract that's valued at $725,000 annually at the NHL level.

Nick Johnson scored a game-tying goal with 19 seconds left, but the Phoenix Coyotes eventually lost to the Edmonton Oilers in overtime on Wednesday 2-1.

Johnson might be the beneficiary of Steve Sullivan's injury, as his time on ice jumped from 8:18 on Monday to 18:02 tonight. Then again, he has the hot hand, scoring two points on Jan. 28 and the Coyotes' only tally on Wednesday. He's scored twice on four SOG so far, so it's unlikely he'll keep this luck up very long.
