Deryk Engelland picked up an assist, a plus-1 rating, two blocked shots, a minor penalty and a hit in Tuesday's 5-2 win against Chicago.

Engelland put the brakes on an eight-game scoreless skid dating back to Jan. 23. The rearguard isn't the most gifted on the offensive end, but he picked up plenty of hits and blocked shots to make him worth a look in deeper fantasy formats.

Deryk Engelland's recently signed one-year, $1.5 million deal includes an additional $1 million in performance bonuses.

In other words, Engelland could end up coming with a $2.5 million cap hit in 2018-19 if he meets his performance bonus requirements. That's a moderate improvement over his 2017-18 contract, which has a $1 million base salary and another $1 million that can be earned in performance bonuses. Engelland has played a valuable role for the Golden Knights this season as he has three goals, 13 points, and a plus-nine rating in 41 contests while averaging 19:39 minutes per game.

Jan 15 - 4:25 PM

Deryk Engelland scored a goal with a plus-1 rating and a hit in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout loss against the Hurricanes.

Engelland showed no ill effects of the hand injury he suffered last week. The goal was his first since Nov. 6 in Toronto, and his first marker at home in 14 games dating back to Oct. 10. The Vegas resident has slowed down on the offensive end, but he continues to be a solid source of hits (45) and blocked shots (56) through 29 contests.

He blocked a shot with his hand. We are not sure if there is a fracture, break or just a bone bruise. For now, consider Engelland day-to-day.

Deryk Engelland posted an assist with a plus-1 rating in 18:56 of ice time in Tuesday's 4-2 win against Chicago.

Deryk Engelland posted a goal with a plus-3 rating, a blocked shot and a hit in Tuesday's 5-2 win against the visiting Coyotes.

It was a special night for Engelland and the Vegas crowd after the terrible events of the past week. Engelland, who lives in Las Vegas, gave an emotional pre-game speech and carried over the momentum into the team's inaugural home game. Don't expect too much more in the way of offense from Engelland, but he always has been a pest capable of racking up plenty of penalty minutes, hits and blocked shots.

Golden Knights President Kerry Bubolz would like to see longtime Las Vegas resident Deryk Engelland score the team's first ever goal.

Bubolz said that would make the goal all the more "special." Engelland played in all 81 games with the Calgary Flames last season and he scored four times. He has 22 markers in 469 career contests, so picking him as the first goal scorer would likely be a long shot.

The Vegas Golden Knights have signed pending UFA Deryk Engelland, which will count as their pick from the Calgary Flames.

Engelland will earn $1 million in base salary, but he can pick up another $1 million in bonuses. Vegas was granted an early window to negotiate with UFAs, but anyone they signed during that time would be counted as an expansion draft pick tied to their former team. Engelland had 16 points and 85 penalty minutes in 81 games last season. He played for the ECHL's Las Vegas Wranglers at the start of his pro career, which might make him an early fan favorite.

The Flames will rest Deryk Engelland in Saturday's season finale against the Sharks.

Through 81 games his season ends with four goals and 16 points along with 85 PIMs, 134 blocks and 135 hits. He'll be ready for the playoffs.

With Troy Brouwer out of the lineup with a hand injury, Deryk Engelland will wear an "A" on his jersey.

The 34-year-old isn't known for his offensive production, but he's shown that he can be a leader both on and off the ice. Engelland has played in 425 career NHL games and regularly sticks up for teammates. He's also a calming presence on a young blue line that features Brett Kulak, Tyler Wotherspoon and Jyrki Jokipakka. We don’t make the decisions, the players do," head coach Glen Gulutzan said. "He’s stepped up for a lot of guys this year and stepped up for our team. That wasn’t a decision the coaches had to deliberate over."

Deryk Engelland (undisclosed) might miss Calgary's season finale on Saturday.

Calgary has already been eliminated from the playoffs anyways, but it would be unfortunate to have Engelland's season end with him on the sidelines given how hot he's been lately. He has two goals and five points in his last five games after recording seven points in his first 64 contests.
