It looks like Deryk Engelland will get back into the lineup for Game 1 against Ottawa Tuesday night.
His inclusion makes sense since the Senators played a physical series versus Montreal in Round 1 and he enjoys playing that kind of game. He was paired with Doug Murray in the morning skate after he skated in the team's top-six group in Monday's practice as well. With Engelland likely to play, Simon Despres will head to the press box. Deryk Engelland is a scratch for the Penguins in Game 6 on Saturday night.

Engelland played in Games 1 and 2, registering three hits, four blocked shots and four penalty minutes. Simon Despres, who has gone pointless with a hit and three blocked shots in two games of this series, will draw into the lineup in his place.

Deryk Engelland may get the nod to play in Game 1 against the New York Islanders Wednesday night.

Brooks Orpik didn't practice Monday due to a lower-body injury and his status is questionable for Pittsburgh's playoff opener. If Orpik can't play then Engelland is the next most physical option available and he did play in six postseason contests with the Penguins last year.

Deryk Engelland has returned to Pittsburgh from Norway for Christmas.

He was playing for Rosenborg of Norway's first division. The Pens' tough guy may return to Norway after the holidays if a new CBA has not been finalized.

Deryk Engelland set up the winning goal in RIHK's 5-2 win over Get-Ligaen on Thursday.

Engelland is a rugged stay-at-home defenseman who had 17 points in 73 games last season with the Penguins, so it's nice to see him get in on the scoring act in Norway.

Deryk Engelland made his debut with RIHK in Norway on Thursday and went pointless.

He did have three shots on goal in the 3-0 loss to Lorenskog. More of a physical defenseman than anything else, Engelland has never been much of a point producer in the NHL, but it still wouldn't be surprising to see him fare better against lesser-skilled competition.

Deryk Engelland has agreed to play for Rosenborg IHK.

Engelland will be joining Jack Skille, who also recently signed with the squad. Rosenborg IHK plays in the GET-ligaen, which is the top hockey league in Norway.

Deryk Engelland would like to get a contract to play somewhere during the NHL lockout.

He and teammate Tanner Glass said on Sunday that they were actively looking for another place to play. "We all want to play hockey," he said. "We want to play in Pittsburgh, obviously. But I would definitely like to find someplace to play, no matter what that is." Engelland posted 17 points, 56 penalty minutes, 174 hits and a plus-10 rating in 73 games with the Penguins last season. He transitioned into being more of a defensive-minded blueliner in 2011-12, but it hurt his value in fantasy leagues that count minutes spent in the sin bin.

Deryk Engelland was able to return from his lower-body injury sooner than expected, so he was in the lineup on Sunday versus Boston.

The defenseman thought he would be out until Thursday, but he was able to log nearly 20 minutes of ice time and earn an assist in Pittsburgh's decisive victory. Engelland sat out three games with the injury.

The NHL's Department of Player Safety has suspended Deryk Engelland for three games for his hit to the head of Chicago's Marcus Kruger.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night when the big Pittsburgh defenseman launched himself into Kruger and made the head his principle point of contact. Engelland will be eligible to return on Saturday, December 31st when the Penguins play on the road against New Jersey. Click the link to check out Brendan Shanahan's explanation of the decision.

Deryk Engelland might be facing a suspension for his hit on Chicago's Marcus Kruger at about the halfway point of the first period.

The physical blueliner appeared to leave his feet and connect his forearm to Kruger's head on the play, but it wasn't penalized by the officials. Engelland dropped the gloves with behemoth rearguard John Scott, who came to his teammate's defense, after the hit.
