Matt Halischuk played his first game of the regular season on Saturday night because of the injury to Evander Kane.

Halischuk was a healthy scratch in the Jets' first game, but got into the lineup for Saturday's tilt against San Jose because of Evander Kane's knee injury. The 26-year-old played on a line with Mathieu Perreault and Adam Lowry. He has no fantasy value.

Matt Halischuk netted a power-play goal in Wednesday's preseason loss to Edmonton.

He also hit the post inside the final five minutes. It was the kind of performance he needed to keep himself in the mix for a bottom-six forward spot on Winnipeg. Halischuk inked a two-way deal with the Jets in the summer after he collected 10 points in 46 games with the team last season.

Matt Halischuk has inked a one-year, two-way contract with Winnipeg.

Halischuk's new deal comes with a $725,000 annual cap hit. He had five goals and 10 points in 46 games with the Jets in 2013-14.
Jul 30 - 2:23 PM

Matt Halischuk has scored in consecutive outings for Jets.

He picked up his fifth goal of the season in Winnipeg's 5-4 overtime loss to Anaheim. Halischuk has posted just nine points in 40 games.
Apr 1 - 7:10 AM

Matt Halischuk was activated from Winnipeg's injured list on Tuesday night.

Mar 5 - 2:38 AM

Matt Halischuk (arm) has received the green light to return to action.

He underwent surgery to repair a fracture in his forearm back in December. However, he may have to wait a little longer before coach Paul Maurice reinserts him into the lineup. "You've definitely got to earn your way back off the IR," Halischuk said. "I just look at this as an opportunity to come in and see what I can do." He has notched seven points in 30 contests.
Feb 26 - 6:26 AM

Matt Halischuk (wrist) has resumed skating, but he isn't very close to returning.

He sustained a broken wrist on Dec. 14 and most fractures can take up to eight weeks to heal. Halischuk has seven points in 30 games this season.
Jan 10 - 7:22 AM

Matt Halischuk had surgery to repair a fracture in his forearm Sunday.

He is out indefinitely while he recovers. The Jets are expected bring up reinforcements from the minors after losing Anthony Peluso as well on Sunday for the next three games due to a suspension. He has been placed on injured reserve.

Matt Halischuk is the latest member of the walking wounded for the Winnipeg Jets.

Halischuk left Saturday's game with 1:54 left in the first period after blocking a shot in the right arm from Dallas Stars forward Alex Chaisson. The Jets said it was an upper-body injury and that he's more than day-to-day. "We have to get (him) checked out a little further," said Jets head coach Claude Noel. "But he will not be a player, he'll probably be out for a while." Halischuk scored his third goal of the season and collected his seventh point in 30 games on Saturday and has been an effective player on a line with Mark Scheifele and Michael Frolik. If Halischuk is moved to the injured-reserve list, it's possible the Jets could place a call to the minors for center Eric O'Dell, who had 12 goals and 28 points in 27 games with the St. John's IceCaps this season. The Jets are already without Evander Kane (lower-body), Zach Bogosian (groin), Jim Slater (sports hernia) and Paul Postma (blood clot in his leg).

Matt Halischuk was happy to record a goal and an assist Saturday's shootout loss to Minnesota.

"It was definitely nice to contribute on the scoresheet," he said. "I always try to play consistent, and play hard." The former New Jersey draft pick will play against the Devils on Monday night. He has two goals and six points in 21 games this season.

Matt Halischuk is waiting to make his Winnipeg debut after being a healthy scratch for the first three games of the year.

The Jets play three times in the next four nights, beginning with Thursday's game at Minnesota, so Halischuk could get used during that time if coach Claude Noel wants to use a fresh player.

Matt Halischuk scored Winnipeg's only goal in a pre-season loss to Ottawa Sunday night.

He tallied a unassisted goal on a breakaway during the second period. Halischuk signed with the Jets in July after Nashville decided to not given him a qualifying offer. He's trying to earn a spot on one of Winnipeg's bottom-two lines.

Matt Halischuk has agreed to terms with the Winnipeg Jets.

The Jets didn't disclose the terms of the contract. Halischuk had five goals and 11 points in 36 games with Nashville last season. He became an unrestricted free agent after the Predators decided against sending him a qualifying offer.

The Nashville Predators will not extend qualifying offers to Matt Halischuk or Jonathon Blum if they cannot trade them.

It's unlikely the Preds will get any offers of substance since both players will become unrestricted free agents without qualifying offers. The deadline for that is Tuesday, which means GM David Poiile will likely spend the day attempting to procure anything of value for the two disappointments. Halischuk had five goals and 11 points in 36 games in 2013, while Blum had one goal and seven points in 35 contests.
