Vladimir Zharkov has decided to play for CSKA Moscow in the KHL next season.
He has reportedly agreed to a two-year contract with the KHL club. The Devils will retain his NHL rights after giving him a qualifying offer last week. Zharkov played in only four games with the Devils last season, so his loss won't be a blow to the organization or your fantasy lineup. Wed, Jul 4, 2012 08:22:00 AM

Vladimir Zharkov may play next season in Russia, but the Devils have retained his rights either way by tendering him a qualifying offer.

New Jersey GM Lou Lamoriello said that Zharkov has not made a final decision yet. He skated in just four NHL games in 2011-12 and appeared in 62 contests with the AHL's Albany Devils. He notched 16 goals and 39 points in the minors.

Vladimir Zharkov has been returned to the AHL.

He did not earn a point or register a shot in four games with New Jersey after being called up from the minors last Friday. "[Ilya Kovalchuk] is healthy and we've got (Rod) Pelley as a spare and (Mark) Fraser and that's enough," GM Lou Lamoriello said. "You know the philosophy. No young player is going to sit."

The New Jersey Devils have placed Vladimir Zharkov on waivers.

Vladimir Zharkov has been sent to AHL Albany.

Devils` winger Vladimir Zharkov still has not scored a goal in the NHL.

Despite firing a total of 61 shots on goal thru 45 career games, Zharkov has yet to record his first NHL marker. Obviously the goal will eventually come, but it should come as no surprise that we can`t recommend him as a pickup in fantasy leagues.

Vladimir Zharkov is expected to make his season debut on Wednesday.

Devils coach Jacques Lemaire wasn't sure if he'd use Zharkov when he was initially called up, but the team's decision to put Brian Rolston on waivers has opened up a spot for Zharkov. He practiced on a line with Dainius Zubrus and Tim Sestito on Tuesday.

Devils coach Jacques Lemaire hasn't decided if he'll use Vladimir Zharkov on Tuesday.

Zharkov was called up after he recorded seven goals and 18 points in 29 AHL contests. He had no goals and 10 assists in 40 games with the Devils last season. We’ll see how he developed, see if he improved," Lemaire said. "I can’t tell you we’ll try to get some goals because he hasn't scored a lot, but you never know. He’s old enough now that there could be a time that he’ll come in and start to do something that we’ll like."

The New Jersery Devils have called up Vladimir Zharkov.

Zharkov had no goals and 10 assists in 40 games with the Devils last season. He failed to make the team's opening day roster, but he's scored seven goals and 18 points in 29 AHL contests. He's not expected to have any fantasy value, but he should do better offensively than he did in 2009-10.

Vladimir Zharkov has been cut from the New Jersey Devils' training camp roster.

Zharkov played in 40 NHL games last season, but he failed to score a single goal. He's capable of contributing offensively, but it looks like he'll have to prove it in the minors before he gets another shot with the New Jersey Devils.
Tue, Sep 28, 2010 06:24:00 PM

Vladimir Zharkov pronounced himself ready to go after he blocked a shot with his knee at scrimmage on Thursday.

Zharkov was unable to put a lot of weight on his leg leaving the ice but said afterward that he will be able to practice on Friday. Since the Devils will welcome the veterans to camp on Friday and not go on the ice, Zharkov will get a day's reprieve. He did not score a goal last season in 40 games with the Devils. While it is unlikely that Zharkov will have fantasy significance this season, it will be hard to have a worse season offensively.
