Jesse Joensuu will probably be back in the Oilers' lineup on Tuesday.

Joensuu spent back-to-back games in the press box. Right winger Jesse Joensuu (back) hopes to return to the Edmonton Oilers for their game against the Philadelphia Flyers tonight.

Joensuu has been out of the lineup since mid-October with a lower back issue. He’s only been able to dress in four games for the Oilers this season. "I feel good, this is the best I’ve felt so far on the ice," Joensuu said Friday. "I don’t know if it’s confirmed yet, but I sure want to play. I need a challenge in my life. I’m tired of working out and doing these movement (exercises) in the gym." Acquired from the New York Islanders this off-season, Joensuu had an impressive training camp for the Oilers. He brings the team much needed size and grit to their bottom two lines. "We missed his size, he competes extremely hard," Edmonton coach Dallas Eakins said. "He goes to the net hard. We have to keep trying to find an element of heaviness in our game and he provides that. Once he is healed and we hope that is very soon, if not by (Saturday). Hopefully we can keep him healthy."

Jesse Joensuu (back) participated in Saturday's morning skate and he may be able to play against Toronto.

Coach Dallas Eakins would welcome him back with open arms if he's available to return. "If he's ready to go, we have to put him in," said Eakins. "That's something we've missed in our lineup — a big body who works like that, who can flex his muscles. Since he got hurt, we've missed him terribly. He plays a hard hard game and we need more of that in our lineup right now." Joensuu did say afterward that he's ready top play, so look for him to be back in. Joensuu suffered a back injury in the Oilers' second game of the year.
