Matt Hendricks (knee) practiced with the Oilers on Wednesday and appears to be nearing his return.

Coach Todd McLellan noted that Saturday against Dallas is the next probable date for Hendricks to make his season debut. The 35-year-old posted 12 points with 68 blocks, 82 PIMs and 175 hits. A beast in reverse leagues, in other words.
Nov 17 - 9:19 PM

Matt Hendricks (knee) is seven-ten days away from a return to the lineup.

The winger was injured during the pre-season and has yet to return. The Oilers miss his ruggedness as he had 82 penalty minutes last season and chipped in with five goals and 12 points. Stay tuned.
Nov 13 - 7:11 AM

Matt Hendricks is week-to-week with a lower-body injury.

It's believed that the lower-body injury in question is related to Hendricks' knee, but that hasn't been confirmed. He had 12 points and 82 penalty minutes in 68 games last season.
Oct 7 - 10:00 AM

Matt Hendricks stood up for his teammate on Friday and fought behemoth Dustin Byfuglien of the Winnipeg Jets.

"Byfuglien's a big body and he plays the right way ... I like that brand of hockey but I didn't like how that play (Klefbom) happened," said Hendricks, who stepped in to defend Oscar Klefbom. Byfuglien, who took a shot off his foot earlier, skated off and didn't return after the fight with Hendricks as a precaution.
Oct 1 - 12:04 PM

Matt Hendricks scored a goal in a 3-2 loss to the Avalanche on Sunday.

Hendricks scored 2:53 into the third period. It was his first goal since January 13, but he now has points in three straight games. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins added a late goal for the Oilers assisted by Connor McDavid.
Mar 21 - 12:09 AM

Thanks to his goal in Friday's 2-0 win over Vancouver, Matt Hendricks now has points in consecutive games.

The heart-and-soul leader for the Oilers is up to four goals and 11 points in 60 games thus far, so we'd let the six hits he threw speak a bit louder for his stat line.
Mar 19 - 12:35 AM

Matt Hendricks (undisclosed) returned to action on Monday March 14.

Hendricks missed Saturday's game. He dished out five hits and blocked a shots in 10:19 minutes of ice time in his return.
Mar 15 - 1:58 AM

Matt Hendricks, who described himself as "beat up," missed Wednesday's practice.

Hendricks is still hoping to play on Thursday, but his availability for that contest is in question. He has three goals and nine points in 56 games this season.
Mar 10 - 8:51 AM

Matt Hendricks practiced alongside Connor McDavid and Jordan Eberle on Wednesday.

That would be a big opportunity for Hendricks, but he's not counting on that line staying intact. "I think (head coach Todd McLellan) is just trying to send a message to a few other guys that we have to be a little smarter on the ice," said Hendricks on Wednesday. "I think that’s probably more what it is. It’s just practice; tomorrow could easily change." Benoit Pouliot is the man that had been playing alongside McDavid and Eberle, but even if Hendricks isn't the one that ends up in that role, it doesn't mean Pouliot will slide back in. It could end up being Zack Kassian that plays on that line, provided that Kassian is over his illness in time.
Feb 18 - 10:56 AM

Matt Hendricks potted a goal for the Oilers, who fell 2-1 in the shootout to the Jets on Saturday.

Hendricks scored a shorthanded goal in the third period to tie up the game. He also had five penalty minutes. Hendricks is nothing but a role player; thus, he has no fantasy value. The goal was his first since Dec. 2. He has three goals, nine points and 63 penalty minutes. Mark Fayne had the helper.
Feb 14 - 1:04 AM

Matt Hendricks is going to play between Benoit Pouliot and Jordan Eberle on Tuesday night.

He is taking the place of injured center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, who is projected to miss at least six-to-eight weeks due to a hand injury.
Jan 19 - 12:20 PM

Matt Hendricks sat out the last game of his three game suspension Saturday.

Hendricks got the three games for a boarding incident with Aaron Ekblad of the Panthers. Hendricks can return to the lineup on Monday. Hendricks has seven points and 44 penalty minutes in 33 games this season so if you don't need penalty minutes, Hendricks is not a good choice for your fantasy team.
