When the Edmonton Oilers announced over the summer that they’d acquired Ryan Hamilton, it barely caused a ripple.
He's being noticed early in training camp, though. He's starting off on a line with Sam Gagner and Jordan Eberle. "It’s pretty special to play with two talented players like that," said the former Toronto Marlies captain. "Those guys are exceptional players and it’s a lot of fun to play with skill like that, but I’m not trying to change my game and play like they do — I’m just trying to play my own game." But Eberle says Hamilton, who had 30 goals in 58 AHL games last year, is "a big, strong guy who can skate and play the game. He’s fast, he can move, he can stick handle. He gets in on the forecheck well, he works hard. I’m excited to see what he can do.Sam and I are not big guys, so if you can add somebody with a little weight and physicality who can get in on the forecheck and help with puck retrieval... he could be a good addition."
