Stoner missed most of the 2016-17 season due to injury and he had abdominal surgery in December, but he played in three preseason games with the Golden Knights. Considere him day-to-day for now.

Clayton Stoner will have to earn his spot on a crowded Golden Knights' defense corps during training camp.

Stoner could be the odd man out with Nate Schmidt, Deryk Engelland, Jason Garrison, Luca Sbisa, Brayden McNabb, Shea Theodore and Jon Merrill vying for roster positions. Griffin Reinhart and Brad Hunt could end up in the mix as well. Stoner hasn't played a game since Nov. 15 and he had abdominal surgery in December.

The Vegas Golden Knights have selected Clayton Stoner from the Anaheim Ducks in the expansion draft.

Vegas also got Shea Theodore from Anaheim in exchange for not taking one of the Ducks' more desirable options. Stoner had three points and 28 penalty minutes in 14 games with Anaheim in 2016-17. He's entering the final season of a four-year, $13 million deal.

Clayton Stoner will be a healthy scratch in Game 4 of the Western Conference Final against Nashville on Thursday night.

Stoner hasn't played a game this postseason because of a lower-body injury, but he was recently deemed healthy by the Ducks medical staff. Korbinian Holzer, Shea Theodore and Sam Carrick will also serve as healthy scratches tonight.

Clayton Stoner will be a healthy scratch in Game 1 of the Western Conference Final on Friday night.

Stoner underwent abdominal surgery and hasn't played a game since Nov. 15. He was cleared for this game, but the Ducks obviously aren't comfortable inserting him into the lineup after such a long layoff. Korbinian Holzer will also watch the game from the press box.

Clayton Stoner (abdominal surgery) is an option for Game 1 of the Western Conference Final.

It will be interesting to see if Stoner is inserted into the lineup. Under ideal circumstances he would be part of the Ducks' playoff push, but he hasn't played since Nov. 15 and this is a risky time of the year to be using a potentially rusty defenseman.

Clayton Stoner (abdominal surgery) isn't likely to be available in the second round.

Stoner last played on Nov. 15 and he's run into problems with his recovery. "I guess it would be up to the doctors," Stoner said. "Just not 100 percent, that’s all. Just tight and sore." Even if he did get the green light, he might be held out of the lineup over concerns about rust.

He hasn't played for the Ducks since Nov. 15 and he has appeared in just 14 games at the NHL level this season.

Clayton Stoner is back with the Ducks, but he's still on injured reserve.

He could be ready for the playoffs, but it appears they're waiting until the veteran defender to show he can withstand the rigors of playing consistently.

The veteran defender just completed his third game with AHL San Diego. He hasn't played with Anaheim since November. Over 14 games he's picked up three points with 17 blocks, 28 PIMs and 35 hits.

Stoner will remain in the AHL a little longer while he gets back on track from abdominal surgery.

Stoner hasn't played since Nov. 15. He might spend three games in the minors and if that goes well then hopefully he'll join the Ducks.
