The Vegas Golden Knights have selected Clayton Stoner from the Anaheim Ducks in the expansion draft.
Vegas also got Shea Theodore from Anaheim in exchange for not taking one of the Ducks' more desirable options. Stoner had three points and 28 penalty minutes in 14 games with Anaheim in 2016-17. He's entering the final season of a four-year, $13 million deal. Jun 21 - 10:16 PM

Clayton Stoner will be a healthy scratch in Game 4 of the Western Conference Final against Nashville on Thursday night.

Stoner hasn't played a game this postseason because of a lower-body injury, but he was recently deemed healthy by the Ducks medical staff. Korbinian Holzer, Shea Theodore and Sam Carrick will also serve as healthy scratches tonight.
May 18 - 8:02 PM

Clayton Stoner will be a healthy scratch in Game 1 of the Western Conference Final on Friday night.

Stoner underwent abdominal surgery and hasn't played a game since Nov. 15. He was cleared for this game, but the Ducks obviously aren't comfortable inserting him into the lineup after such a long layoff. Korbinian Holzer will also watch the game from the press box.
May 12 - 9:02 PM

Clayton Stoner (abdominal surgery) is an option for Game 1 of the Western Conference Final.

It will be interesting to see if Stoner is inserted into the lineup. Under ideal circumstances he would be part of the Ducks' playoff push, but he hasn't played since Nov. 15 and this is a risky time of the year to be using a potentially rusty defenseman.
May 11 - 5:06 PM

Clayton Stoner (abdominal surgery) isn't likely to be available in the second round.

Stoner last played on Nov. 15 and he's run into problems with his recovery. "I guess it would be up to the doctors," Stoner said. "Just not 100 percent, that’s all. Just tight and sore." Even if he did get the green light, he might be held out of the lineup over concerns about rust.
Apr 25 - 10:17 AM

Clayton Stoner (abdominal surgery) hasn't received the green light to play yet.

He hasn't played for the Ducks since Nov. 15 and he has appeared in just 14 games at the NHL level this season.
Apr 5 - 3:43 PM

Clayton Stoner is back with the Ducks, but he's still on injured reserve.

He could be ready for the playoffs, but it appears they're waiting until the veteran defender to show he can withstand the rigors of playing consistently.
Apr 2 - 6:05 PM

Clayton Stoner is expected to join the Ducks on Saturday or Sunday.

The veteran defender just completed his third game with AHL San Diego. He hasn't played with Anaheim since November. Over 14 games he's picked up three points with 17 blocks, 28 PIMs and 35 hits.
Apr 1 - 3:23 PM

The Ducks will not be recalling Clayton Stoner from his conditioning assignment in San Diego prior to Saturday night's game against the Oilers.

Stoner will remain in the AHL a little longer while he gets back on track from abdominal surgery.
Apr 1 - 11:48 AM

Clayton Stoner (abdominal surgery) has joined AHL San Diego on a long-term conditioning stint.

Stoner hasn't played since Nov. 15. He might spend three games in the minors and if that goes well then hopefully he'll join the Ducks.
Mar 24 - 3:06 PM

Clayton Stoner (abdominal surgery) could be heading to the minors soon on a conditioning assignment.

He has been making progress in his recovery from abdominal surgery, which he had back in December. Stoner hasn't played since Nov. 15.
Mar 22 - 2:02 PM

Clayton Stoner has not been happy with the way his body has progressed after undergoing abdominal surgery December 21.

Stoner was hoping to return after the All-Star break but Saturday marked the second day in a row that he has been able to practice. "It’s just taken longer than you would like," Stoner said. "At certain points, you try and get back on the ice. You feel like maybe you can start building and getting on the ice incorporated back with the team. And then you have a setback. So it’s been frustrating. At the same time trying to stay positive and look ahead. Hopefully I can get my strength back and kind of help the team out in the future." Once Stoner is 100 percent, he will be sent down to San Diego to get in some playing time. He had only three points in 14 games before the injury so his fantasy value is negligible.
Mar 5 - 6:42 AM

Clayton Stoner (abdominal surgery) might begin an AHL conditioning assignment soon.

Stoner hasn't played since Nov. 15, so it'd make sense for him to shake off the rust in the minors before returning. He has a goal and three points in 14 games this season.
Feb 14 - 4:49 AM

Clayton Stoner underwent abdominal surgery on Dec. 21 and Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle expects him to be out four-to-six weeks.

Stoner has missed each of his team's last 19 games and it sounds like he won't be back anytime soon. He last played on Nov. 15 against Edmonton. If all goes well in his recovery, Stoner should be back in late-January.

Stoner may not return until the start of the month but at least he has begun skating. He was hurt on November 15 and coach Randy Carlyle stated that he will be back seven-10 days after he starts practicing. He has three points in 14 games.
